< Psalms 71 >

1 In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.
Psalmus David, Filiorum Ionadab, et priorum captivorum. In te Domine speravi, non confundar in æternum:
2 Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline thy ear to me, and save me.
in iustitia tua libera me, et eripe me. Inclina ad me aurem tuam, et salva me.
3 Be thou my strong habitation, where I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.
Esto mihi in Deum protectorem, et in locum munitum: ut salvum me facias. Quoniam firmamentum meum, et refugium meum es tu.
4 Deliver me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.
5 For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou art my trust from my youth.
Quoniam tu es patientia mea Domine: Domine spes mea a iuventute mea.
6 By thee have I been sustained from the womb: thou art he that took me out of my mother’s womb: my praise shall be continually of thee.
7 I am as a wonder to many; but thou art my strong refuge.
tamquam prodigium factus sum multis: et tu adiutor fortis.
8 Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day.
Repleatur os meum laude, ut cantem gloriam tuam: tota die magnitudinem tuam.
9 Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth.
Ne proiicias me in tempore senectutis: cum defecerit virtus mea, ne derelinquas me.
10 For my enemies speak against me; and they that lay wait for my soul take counsel together,
Quia dixerunt inimici mei mihi: et qui custodiebant animam meam, consilium fecerunt in unum,
11 Saying, God hath forsaken him: persecute and take him; for there is none to deliver him.
12 O God, be not far from me: O my God, make haste for my help.
Deus ne elongeris a me: Deus meus in auxilium meum respice.
13 Let them be confounded and consumed that are adversaries to my soul; let them be covered with reproach and dishonour that seek my hurt.
14 But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more.
15 My mouth shall show forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day; for I know not their numbers.
Os meum annuntiabit iustitiam tuam: tota die salutare tuum. Quoniam non cognovi litteraturam,
16 I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.
introibo in potentias Domini: Domine, memorabor iustitiæ tuæ solius.
17 O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and to this day have I declared thy wondrous works.
Deus docuisti me a iuventute mea: et usque nunc pronuntiabo mirabilia tua.
18 Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shown thy strength to this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.
Et usque in senectam et senium: Deus ne derelinquas me, Donec annunciem brachium tuum generationi omni, quæ ventura est: Potentiam tuam,
19 Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high, who hast done great things: O God, who is like thee!
et iustitiam tuam Deus usque in altissima, quæ fecisti magnalia: Deus quis similis tibi?
20 Thou, who hast shown me great and many troubles, wilt revive me again, and shalt bring me again from the depths of the earth.
Quantas ostendisti mihi tribulationes multas, et malas: et conversus vivificasti me: et de abyssis terræ iterum reduxisti me:
21 Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side.
Multiplicasti magnificentiam tuam: et conversus consolatus es me.
22 I will also praise thee with the psaltery, even thy truth, O my God: to thee will I sing with the harp, O thou Holy One of Israel.
Nam et ego confitebor tibi in vasis psalmi veritatem tuam: Deus psallam tibi in cithara, Sanctus Israel.
23 My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing to thee; and my soul, whom thou hast redeemed.
24 My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long: for they are confounded, for they are brought to shame, that seek my hurt.
