Psalms 64
1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy.
Au maître-chantre. — Psaume de David. Dieu, écoute ma voix, quand je gémis; Protège ma vie contre l'ennemi qui m'épouvante!
2 Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity:
Mets-moi à l'abri des complots des méchants, De la foule bruyante des ouvriers d'iniquité.
3 Who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words:
Ils aiguisent leur langue comme une épée; Ils ajustent comme une flèche leur parole amère,
4 That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.
Pour tirer en cachette sur l'innocent. Ils tirent sur lui à l'improviste: aucune crainte ne les retient.
5 They encourage themselves in an evil matter: they speak of laying snares secretly; they say, Who shall see them?
Ils s'affermissent dans leur mauvais dessein; Ils ne parlent que de tendre des pièges. Ils disent: «Qui nous verra?»
6 They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: both the inward thought of every one of them, and the heart, is deep.
Ils ne songent qu'à commettre des crimes: «Nous voilà prêts, disent-ils; l'embûche est bien dressée!» Oui, les pensées secrètes, le coeur de l'homme, sont un abîme.
7 But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded.
Mais Dieu leur lance un trait; Soudain les voilà frappés!
8 So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves: all that see them shall flee away.
Ils chancellent; leur calomnie retombe sur eux. Tous ceux qui les voient hochent la tête.
9 And all men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of his doing.
Les hommes sont tous saisis de crainte; Ils racontent l'oeuvre de Dieu, Et ils comprennent ce qu'il a fait.
10 The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.
Le juste se réjouira en l'Éternel, Et il cherchera son refuge en lui. Tous ceux qui ont le coeur droit seront pleins d'allégresse.
