Psalms 54

1 To the chief Musician on Neginoth, Maschil, A Psalm of David, when the Ziphims came and said to Saul, Doth not David hide himself with us? Save me, O God, by thy name, and judge me by thy strength.

Dem Sangmeister, mit Saitenspielbegleitung. Eine Betrachtung Davids.

2 Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth.

Als die Sifiter gekommen waren und Saul gemeldet hatten: "David hält sich bei uns verborgen."

3 For strangers have risen up against me, and oppressors seek after my soul: they have not set God before them. (Selah)

Elohim, hilf mir durch deinen Namen, / Durch seine Stärke schaffe mir Recht!

4 Behold, God is my helper: the Lord is with them that uphold my soul.

Elohim, höre doch mein Gebet, / Horch auf die Worte meines Mundes!

5 He shall reward evil to my enemies: cut them off in thy truth.

Denn Fremde erheben sich wider mich, / Und Grausame trachten mir nach dem Leben, / Sie haben Gott nicht vor Augen. (Sela)

6 I will freely sacrifice to thee: I will praise thy name, O LORD; for it is good.

Wahrlich, mein Helfer ist Elohim, / Adonái ist meines Lebens Halt.

7 For he hath delivered me out of all trouble: and my eye hath seen its desire upon my enemies.

Das Böse muß fallen auf meine Feinde — / Nach deiner Treue vernichte sie! Dann bring ich dir freiwillige Opfer, / Deinem Namen, o Jahwe, dank ich, daß er so hold. Denn er hat mich errettet aus aller Not, / Und an meinen Feinden erfreut sich mein Auge.
