Psalms 115

1 Not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth’s sake.

Non pas à nous, Yahweh, non pas à nous, mais à ton nom donne la gloire, à cause de ta bonté, à cause de ta fidélité!

2 Why should the heathen say, Where is now their God?

Pourquoi les nations diraient-elles: « Où donc est leur Dieu? »

3 But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatever he pleased.

Notre Dieu est dans le ciel; tout ce qu'il veut, il le fait.

4 Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.

Leurs idoles sont de l'argent et de l'or, ouvrage de la main des hommes.

5 They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not:

Elles ont une bouche, et ne parlent point; elles ont des yeux, et ne voient point.

6 They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not:

Elles ont des oreilles, et n'entendent point; elles ont des narines, et ne sentent point.

7 They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat.

Elles ont des mains, et ne touchent point; elles ont des pieds, et ne marchent point; de leur gosier elles ne font entendre aucun son.

8 They that make them are like them; so is every one that trusteth in them.

Qu'ils leur ressemblent ceux qui les font, et quiconque se confie à elles!

9 O Israel, trust thou in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.

Israël, mets ta confiance en Yahweh! Il est leur secours et leur bouclier.

10 O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.

Maison d'Aaron, mets ta confiance en Yahweh! Il est leur secours et leur bouclier.

11 Ye that fear the LORD, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.

Vous qui craignez Yahweh, mettez votre confiance en Yahweh! Il est leur secours et leur bouclier.

12 The LORD hath been mindful of us: he will bless us; he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron.

Yahweh s'est souvenu de nous: il bénira! Il bénira la maison d'Israël; il bénira la maison d'Aaron;

13 He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great.

il bénira ceux qui craignent Yahweh, les petits avec les grands.

14 The LORD shall increase you more and more, you and your children.

Que Yahweh multiplie sur vous ses faveurs, sur vous et sur vos enfants!

15 Ye are blessed of the LORD who made heaven and earth.

Soyez bénis de Yahweh, qui a fait les cieux et la terre!

16 The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD’S: but the earth hath he given to the children of men.

Les cieux sont les cieux de Yahweh, mais il a donné la terre aux fils de l'homme.

17 The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence.

Ce ne sont pas les morts qui louent Yahweh, ceux qui descendent dans le lieu du silence;

18 But we will bless the LORD from this time forth and for evermore. Praise the LORD.

mais nous, nous bénirons Yahweh, dès maintenant et à jamais. Alleluia!
