Proverbs 25
1 These are also proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out.
Сия притчи Соломони бывшыя нерасположенны, яже списаша друзие Езекии царя Иудейска.
2 It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.
Слава Божия крыет слово, слава же царева почитает повеления Его.
3 The heaven for height, and the earth for depth, and the heart of kings is unsearchable.
Небо высоко, земля же глубока: сердце же царево необличително.
4 Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the refiner.
Куй неискушенное сребро, и очистится чисто все.
5 Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness.
Убивай нечестивыя от лица царева, и исправится в правде престол его.
6 Put not forth thyself in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of great men:
Не гордися пред лицем царевым и на месте сильных не стани:
7 For better it is that it be said to thee, Come up here; than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince whom thy eyes have seen.
лучше бо ти есть, егда речет: взыди ко мне: нежели смиритися тебе пред лицем сильнаго.
8 Go not forth hastily to strive, lest thou know not what to do in its end, when thy neighbour hath put thee to shame.
Иже видеста очи твои, глаголи. Не впадай в тяжбу скоро, да не раскаешися послежди, егда тебе досадит друг твой.
9 Debate thy cause with thy neighbour himself; and reveal not a secret to another:
Вступай вспять, не неради, да не поносит убо тебе друг:
10 Lest he that heareth it put thee to shame, and thy infamy turn not away.
свара же твоя и вражда твоя не отступит, но будет ти равна со смертию. Благодать и любы свобождает, в нихже утверди себе, да не в поношении будеши, но сохрани пути твоя добре устроены.
11 A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.
(Якоже) яблоко злато во усерязи сардийскаго камене, сице рещи слово при приличных ему.
12 As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.
И (якоже) во усерязь златый сардийский камень многоценный вяжется, (сице) слово премудро во ухо благопослушно.
13 As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.
Якоже исходище снега в жатву зноя пользует, тако вестник верен пославших его: душы бо употребляющих его пользует.
14 Whoever boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain.
Якоже ветри и облацы и дождеве являющиися, тако и хвалящийся о даянии ложнем.
15 By long forbearing is a prince persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone.
В долготерпении благополучие царем: язык же мякок сокрушает кости.
16 Hast thou found honey? eat so much as is sufficient for thee, lest thou be filled with it, and vomit it.
Мед обрет яждь умеренно, да не како пресыщен изблюеши.
17 Withdraw thy foot from thy neighbour’s house; lest he be weary of thee, and so hate thee.
Не учащай вносити ногу твою ко другу твоему, да не когда насыщься тебе, возненавидит тя.
18 A man that beareth false witness against his neighbour is a club, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.
Дреколь и мечь и стрела остра, тако и муж свидетелствуяй на друга своего свидетелство ложное.
19 Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.
Путь злаго и нога законопреступнаго погибнут в день зол.
20 As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon soda, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart.
Якоже оцет неполезен вреду и дым очима, тако припадшая страсть в телеси сердце оскорбляет.
21 If thy enemy shall hunger, give him bread to eat; and if he shall thirst, give him water to drink:
Якоже молие в ризе и червие в древе, тако печаль мужу вредит сердце.
22 For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee.
Аще алчет враг твой, ухлеби его: аще ли жаждет, напой его:
23 The north wind driveth away rain: so doth an angry countenance a backbiting tongue.
сие бо творя, углие огненное собираеши на главу его, Господь же воздаст тебе благая.
24 It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman and in a wide house.
Ветр северный воздвизает облаки, лице же безстудно язык раздражает.
25 As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.
Лучше жити во угле непокрытем, неже во храмине общей со женою клеветливою.
26 A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring.
Якоже вода студеная души жаждущей благоприятна, тако весть благая от земли издалеча.
27 It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory.
Якоже аще кто источник заграждает и исходище воды губит, тако не лепо праведнику пасти пред нечестивым.
28 He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.
Ясти мед много не добро: почитати же подобает словеса славна. Якоже град стенами разорен и не огражден, тако муж творяй что без совета.
