Proverbs 25
1 These are also proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out.
| هَذِهِ أَيْضاً أَمْثَالُ سُلَيْمَانَ الَّتِي نَسَخَهَا رِجَالُ حَزَقِيَّا مَلِكِ يَهُوذَا: | ١ |
2 It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.
| مِنْ مَظَاهِرِ مَجْدِ اللهِ كِتْمَانُ أَسْرَارِهِ، أَمَّا مَظَاهِرُ مَجْدِ الْمَلِكِ فَالْكَشْفُ عَنْ بَوَاطِنِ الأُمُورِ. | ٢ |
3 The heaven for height, and the earth for depth, and the heart of kings is unsearchable.
| كَمَا أَنَّ السَّمَاوَاتِ لِلْعُلُوِّ، وَالأَرْضَ لِلْعُمْقِ، فَإِنَّ قَلْبَ الْمَلِكِ لَا يُسْبَرُ غَوْرُهُ. | ٣ |
4 Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the refiner.
| نَقِّ الْفِضَّةَ مِنْ شَوَائِبِهَا، فَيَخْلُصَ لِلصَّائِغِ مَا يَصْنَعُ مِنْهُ إِنَاءً. | ٤ |
5 Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness.
| أَبْعِدِ الشِّرِّيرَ مِنْ حَضْرَةِ الْمَلِكِ، يَتَثَبَّتُ عَرْشُهُ بِالْعَدْلِ. | ٥ |
6 Put not forth thyself in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of great men:
| لَا تَتَبَاهَ أَمَامَ الْمَلِكِ، وَلا تَقِفْ فِي مَوْضِعِ الْعُظَمَاءِ، | ٦ |
7 For better it is that it be said to thee, Come up here; than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince whom thy eyes have seen.
| لأَنَّهُ خَيْرٌ أَنْ يُقَالَ لَكَ: ارْتَفِعْ إِلَى هُنَا مِنْ أَنْ يُحَطَّ مَقَامُكَ فِي حَضْرَةِ الرَّئِيسِ، الَّذِي شَاهَدَتْهُ عَيْنَاكَ. | ٧ |
8 Go not forth hastily to strive, lest thou know not what to do in its end, when thy neighbour hath put thee to shame.
| لَا تَتَسَرَّعْ بِالذَّهَابِ إِلَى سَاحَةِ الْقَضَاءِ، إِذْ مَاذَا تَفْعَلُ فِي النِّهَايَةِ إِنْ أَخْزَاكَ قَرِيبُكَ؟ | ٨ |
9 Debate thy cause with thy neighbour himself; and reveal not a secret to another:
| قُمْ بِمُنَاقَشَةِ دَعْوَاكَ مَعَ قَرِيبِكَ، وَلا تُفْشِ سِرَّ غَيْرِكَ، | ٩ |
10 Lest he that heareth it put thee to shame, and thy infamy turn not away.
| لِئَلّا يُعَيِّرَكَ السَّامِعُ، وَلا تُمْحَى فَضِيحَتُكَ. | ١٠ |
11 A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.
| كَلِمَةٌ تُقَالُ فِي أَوَانِهَا مِثْلُ تُفَّاحٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فِي مَصُوغٍ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ. | ١١ |
12 As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.
| الْمُوَبِّخُ الْحَكِيمُ لأُذُنٍ صَاغِيَةٍ مِثْلُ قُرْطٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ وَحَلِيٍّ مِنْ إِبْرِيزٍ. | ١٢ |
13 As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.
| الرَّسُولُ الأَمِينُ لِمُرْسِلِيهِ مِثْلُ بُرُودَةِ الثَّلْجِ فِي يَوْمِ الْحَصَادِ، لأَنَّهُ يُنْعِشُ نُفُوسَ سَادَتِهِ. | ١٣ |
14 Whoever boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain.
| الْمُتَفَاخِرُ بِإِغْدَاقِ هَدَايَا كَاذِبَةٍ هُوَ كَالسَّحَابِ وَالرِّيحِ بِلا مَطَرٍ. | ١٤ |
15 By long forbearing is a prince persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone.
| بِالصَّبْرِ يَتِمُّ إِقْنَاعُ الْحَاكِمِ، وَاللِّسَانُ اللَّيِّنُ يَكْسِرُ الْعِظَامَ. | ١٥ |
16 Hast thou found honey? eat so much as is sufficient for thee, lest thou be filled with it, and vomit it.
| إِنْ عَثَرْتَ عَلَى عَسَلٍ فَكُلْ مِنْهُ مَا يَكْفِيكَ، لِئَلّا تَتَّخِمَ فَتَتَقَيَّأَهُ، | ١٦ |
17 Withdraw thy foot from thy neighbour’s house; lest he be weary of thee, and so hate thee.
| أَقْلِلْ مِنْ زِيَارَةِ قَرِيبِكَ لِئَلّا يَمَلَّ مِنْكَ وَيَمْقُتَكَ. | ١٧ |
18 A man that beareth false witness against his neighbour is a club, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.
| شَاهِدُ الزُّورِ ضِدَّ قَرِيبِهِ هُوَ مِثْلُ مِطْرَقَةٍ وَسَيْفٍ وَسَهْمٍ مَسْنُونٍ. | ١٨ |
19 Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.
| الاعْتِمَادُ عَلَى الْغَادِرِ فِي وَقْتِ الضِّيقِ مِثْلُ سِنٍّ مَهْتُومَةٍ أَوْ رِجْلٍ مُخَلَّعَةٍ. | ١٩ |
20 As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon soda, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart.
| مَنْ يَشْدُو بِالأَغَانِي لِقَلْبٍ كَئِيبٍ يَكُونُ كَنَزْعِ الثَّوْبِ فِي يَوْمٍ قَارِسِ الْبُرُودَةِ، أَوْ كَخَلٍّ عَلَى نَطْرُونٍ. | ٢٠ |
21 If thy enemy shall hunger, give him bread to eat; and if he shall thirst, give him water to drink:
| إِنْ جَاعَ عَدُوُّكَ فَأَطْعِمْهُ، وَإِنْ عَطِشَ فَاسْقِهِ، | ٢١ |
22 For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee.
| فَإِنْ فَعَلْتَ هَذَا تَجْمَعْ جَمْراً عَلَى رَأْسِهِ، وَالرَّبُّ يُكَافِئُكَ. | ٢٢ |
23 The north wind driveth away rain: so doth an angry countenance a backbiting tongue.
| رِيحُ الشِّمَالِ تَجْلِبُ الْمَطَرَ، وَاللِّسَانُ النَّمَّامُ يَسْتَأْثِرُ بِالنَّظَرَاتِ الْغَاضِبَةِ. | ٢٣ |
24 It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman and in a wide house.
| الإِقَامَةُ فِي رُكْنِ سَطْحٍ خَيْرٌ مِنْ مُشَاطَرَةِ بَيْتٍ مَعَ زَوْجَةٍ نَكِدَةٍ. | ٢٤ |
25 As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.
| الْخَبَرُ الطَّيِّبُ مِنْ أَرْضٍ بَعِيدَةٍ مِثْلُ مَاءٍ بَارِدٍ لِلنَّفْسِ الظَّامِئَةِ. | ٢٥ |
26 A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring.
| الصِّدِّيقُ الْمُتَخَاذِلُ أَمَامَ الشِّرِّيرِ هُوَ عَيْنٌ عَكِرَةٌ وَيَنْبُوعٌ فَاسِدٌ. | ٢٦ |
27 It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory.
| كَمَا أَنَّ الإِكْثَارَ مِنِ الْتِهَامِ الْعَسَلِ مُضِرٌّ، كَذَلِكَ الْتِمَاسُ الْمَجْدِ الذَّاتِيِّ مَدْعَاةٌ لِلْهَوَانِ. | ٢٧ |
28 He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.
| الرَّجُلُ الْمُفْتَقِرُ لِضَبْطِ النَّفْسِ مِثْلُ مَدِينَةٍ مُنْهَدِمَةٍ لَا سُورَ لَهَا. | ٢٨ |
