Proverbs 23
1 When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before thee:
ಆಳುವವನ ಸಂಗಡ ನೀನು ಊಟಕ್ಕೆ ಕುಳಿತಿರುವಾಗ, ನಿನ್ನ ಎದುರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಏನಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಶ್ರದ್ಧೆಯಿಂದ ಗಮನಿಸು.
2 And put a knife to thy throat, if thou art a man given to appetite.
ನೀನು ಹೊಟ್ಟೆಬಾಕನಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ, ನಿನ್ನ ಕುತ್ತಿಗೆಗೆ ಖಡ್ಗವನ್ನು ಇಟ್ಟುಕೋ.
3 Be not desirous of his dainties: for they are deceitful food.
ಅವನ ರುಚಿ ಪದಾರ್ಥಗಳನ್ನು ಅಪೇಕ್ಷಿಸಬೇಡ; ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅದು ಮೋಸದ ಆಹಾರವು.
4 Labour not to be rich: cease from thy own wisdom.
ಐಶ್ವರ್ಯವಂತನಾಗುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರಯಾಸಪಡಬೇಡ; ಅದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಸ್ವಬುದ್ಧಿಯನ್ನೇ ಆಶ್ರಯಿಸಬೇಡ.
5 Wilt thou set thy eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make to themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.
ಕಣ್ಣು ಮಿಟುಕಿಸುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ಐಶ್ವರ್ಯ ಕಣ್ಮರೆಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಅದು ನಿಸ್ಸಂದೇಹವಾಗಿ ರೆಕ್ಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಂಡು ಹದ್ದಿನಂತೆ ಆಕಾಶದ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಹಾರಿಹೋಗುವುದು.
6 Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his delicacies:
ಜಿಪುಣನ ಆಹಾರವನ್ನು ತಿನ್ನಬೇಡ; ಅವನ ರುಚಿ ಪದಾರ್ಥಗಳನ್ನು ಆಶಿಸಬೇಡ.
7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
ಏಕೆಂದರೆ, ಅವನು ಎಲ್ಲದಕ್ಕೂ ಬೆಲೆ ಕಟ್ಟುವ ಯೋಚನೆಯುಳ್ಳವನಂತೆ ಇದ್ದಾನೆ; ಅವನು, “ತಿನ್ನು, ಕುಡಿ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ; ಆದರೆ ಅವನ ಹೃದಯವು ನಿನ್ನೊಂದಿಗಿಲ್ಲ.
8 The morsel which thou hast eaten shalt thou vomit up, and lose thy sweet words.
ನೀನು ತಿಂದ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ತುತ್ತನ್ನು ಕಕ್ಕಿಬಿಡುವೆ; ನಿನ್ನ ಸವಿಮಾತುಗಳೆಲ್ಲಾ ವ್ಯರ್ಥವೇ.
9 Speak not in the ears of a fool: for he will despise the wisdom of thy words.
ಬುದ್ಧಿಹೀನರ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತಾಡಬೇಡ; ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಜ್ಞಾನದ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಅವರು ತಿರಸ್ಕರಿಸುವನು.
10 Remove not the old landmark; and enter not into the fields of the fatherless:
ಪೂರ್ವಕಾಲದ ಮೇರೆಯನ್ನು ತೆಗೆಯಬೇಡ; ಅನಾಥರ ಹೊಲಗಳನ್ನು ಅತಿಕ್ರಮಿಸಬೇಡ.
11 For their redeemer is mighty; he shall plead their cause with thee.
ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅವನ ವಿಮೋಚಕನು ಬಲಶಾಲಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ; ಅವರ ವ್ಯಾಜ್ಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಆತನು ವಾದಿಸುವನು.
12 Apply thy heart to instruction, and thy ears to the words of knowledge.
ಶಿಸ್ತಿಗೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಹೃದಯವನ್ನೂ ತಿಳುವಳಿಕೆಯ ಮಾತುಗಳಿಗೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಕಿವಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ಕೊಡು.
13 Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.
ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಶಿಕ್ಷಿಸಲು ಹಿಂದೆಗೆಯಬೇಡ; ಬೆತ್ತದಿಂದ ಹೊಡೆದರೆ, ಅವರು ಸಾಯುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
ಅವರನ್ನು ಬೆತ್ತದಿಂದ ಹೊಡೆದು, ಪಾತಾಳದಿಂದ ಅವರ ಮರಣವನ್ನು ತಪ್ಪಿಸುವೆ. (Sheol h7585)
15 My son, if thy heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine.
ಮಗನೇ, ನಿನ್ನ ಹೃದಯವು ಜ್ಞಾನವುಳ್ಳದ್ದಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ, ನನ್ನ ಹೃದಯವು ಹರ್ಷಿಸುವುದು.
16 Yea, my reins shall rejoice, when thy lips speak right things.
ನಿನ್ನ ತುಟಿಗಳು ಯಥಾರ್ಥವಾದವುಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾತಾಡಿದರೆ, ನನ್ನ ಅಂತರಾತ್ಮವು ಸಂತೋಷಿಸುವುದು.
17 Let not thy heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the LORD all the day long.
ಪಾಪಿಗಳನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಹೃದಯವು ಅಸೂಯೆಪಡದಿರಲಿ; ಆದರೆ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಭಯದಲ್ಲಿರಲು ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ಆಸಕ್ತನಾಗಿರು.
18 For surely there is an end; and thy expectation shall not be cut off.
ಖಂಡಿತವಾಗಿಯೂ ನಿನಗೆ ಮುಂದಿನ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆಯಿದೆ; ನಿನ್ನ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆಯು ನಿರರ್ಥಕವಾಗದು.
19 Hear thou, my son, and be wise, and guide thy heart in the way.
ಮಗನೇ, ಕೇಳಿ ಜ್ಞಾನವಂತನಾಗು; ನೀತಿ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಹೃದಯವನ್ನು ನಡೆಸು.
20 Be not among winebibbers; among gluttonous eaters of flesh:
ಅತಿ ಮದ್ಯಪಾನ ಮಾಡುವವರಲ್ಲಿ ಅತಿ ಮಾಂಸಭಕ್ಷರಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಸೇರಬೇಡ.
21 For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags.
ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಕುಡುಕರೂ ಹೊಟ್ಟೆಬಾಕರೂ ದುರ್ಗತಿಗೆ ಬರುವರು; ತೂಕಡಿಕೆಯು ಹರಕು ಬಟ್ಟೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊದಿಸುವದು.
22 Hearken to thy father that begat thee, and despise not thy mother when she is old.
ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಹೆತ್ತ ತಂದೆಯ ಮಾತಿಗೆ ಕಿವಿಗೊಡು, ನಿನ್ನ ತಾಯಿ ಮುಪ್ಪಿನವಳಾದಾಗ ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ಅಸಡ್ಡೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಡ.
23 Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.
ಸತ್ಯವನ್ನೂ ಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನೂ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣವನ್ನೂ ವಿವೇಕವನ್ನೂ ಕೊಂಡುಕೋ; ಆದರೆ ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾರಬೇಡ.
24 The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him.
ನೀತಿವಂತನ ತಂದೆಯು ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಸಂತೋಷಪಡುವನು; ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯಾದ ಮಗುವನ್ನು ಪಡೆದವನಿಗೆ ಅವನಿಂದ ಆನಂದವಾಗುವುದು.
25 Thy father and thy mother shall be glad, and she that bore thee shall rejoice.
ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆತಾಯಿಗಳು ಸಂತೋಷಿಸುವರು; ನಿನ್ನ ಹೆತ್ತ ತಾಯಿ ಆನಂದಿಸುವಳು.
26 My son, give me thy heart, and let thy eyes observe my ways.
ಮಗನೇ, ನಿನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ಕೊಡು; ನನ್ನ ಮಾರ್ಗಗಳನ್ನು ಅನುಸರಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳು ಆನಂದಿಸಲಿ.
27 For an harlot is a deep ditch; and an adulteress is a narrow pit.
ವೇಶ್ಯೆಯು ಆಳವಾದ ಕುಣಿ; ವ್ಯಭಿಚಾರಿಣಿಯು ಇಕ್ಕಟ್ಟಾದ ಗುಂಡಿ.
28 She also lieth in wait as for a prey, and increaseth the transgressors among men.
ಕಳ್ಳನಂತೆ ಅವಳು ಹೊಂಚು ಹಾಕಿ ಮನುಷ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ದ್ರೋಹಿಗಳನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸುತ್ತಾಳೆ.
29 Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes?
ಯಾರಿಗೆ ಕಷ್ಟ? ಯಾರಿಗೆ ದುಃಖ? ಯಾರಿಗೆ ಕಲಹಗಳು? ಯಾರು ಗೊಣಗುಟ್ಟುತ್ತಾರೆ? ಯಾರು ಸುಮ್ಮಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ಗಾಯಪಡುತ್ತಾರೆ? ಯಾರಿಗೆ ಕೆಂಪೇರಿದ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳು?
30 They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine.
ಮದ್ಯಪಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಸಕ್ತರಾಗಿ, ಮಿಶ್ರ ಮದ್ಯಪಾನವನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಯ ಬಯಸುವವರೇ ಅಲ್ಲವೇ!
31 Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth its colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright.
ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸವು ಕೆಂಪಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಪಾತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಥಳಥಳಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಚಲಿಸಿದರೆ, ಅದನ್ನು ನೋಡಬೇಡ.
32 At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder.
ಕೊನೆಗೆ ಅದು ಹಾವಿನಂತೆ ಕಚ್ಚುವುದು ಮತ್ತು ಸರ್ಪದಂತೆ ವಿಷವುಕ್ಕಿಸುವುದು.
33 Thy eyes shall behold strange things, and thy heart shall utter perverse things.
ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳು ವಿಚಿತ್ರ ದೃಶ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ನೋಡುತ್ತವೆ. ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮನಸ್ಸು ಗೊಂದಲಮಯ ವಿಷಯಗಳನ್ನು ಕಲ್ಪಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
34 And thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast.
ನೀನು ಸಮುದ್ರದ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಲಗಿರುವವನಂತೆ ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಹಡಗಿನ ಕಂಬದ ತುದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವಿ.
35 They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.
“ಜನರು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದರೂ ನನಗೆ ನೋವಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ; ನಾನು ಎಚ್ಚರವಾಗುವುದು ಯಾವಾಗ? ಪುನಃ ನಾನು ಅದನ್ನು ಕುಡಿದೇನು?” ಎಂದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವೆ.
