Proverbs 13
1 A wise son heareth his father’s instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.
Мудрый сын слушает наставление отца, а буйный не слушает обличения.
2 A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence.
От плода уст своих человек вкусит добро, душа же законопреступников - зло.
3 He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.
Кто хранит уста свои, тот бережет душу свою; а кто широко раскрывает свой рот, тому беда.
4 The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
Душа ленивого желает, но тщетно; а душа прилежных насытится.
5 A righteous man hateth lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame.
Праведник ненавидит ложное слово, а нечестивый срамит и бесчестит себя.
6 Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.
Правда хранит непорочного в пути, а нечестие губит грешника.
7 There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.
Иной выдает себя за богатого, а у него ничего нет; другой выдает себя за бедного, а у него богатства много.
8 The ransom of a man’s life is his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke.
Богатством своим человек выкупает жизнь свою, а бедный и угрозы не слышит.
9 The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.
Свет праведных весело горит, светильник же нечестивых угасает. Души коварные блуждают в грехах, а праведники сострадают и милуют.
10 Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.
От высокомерия происходит раздор, а у советующихся - мудрость.
11 Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase.
Богатство от суетности истощается, а собирающий трудами умножает его.
12 Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.
Надежда, долго не сбывающаяся, томит сердце, а исполнившееся желание - как древо жизни.
13 Whoever despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.
Кто пренебрегает словом, тот причиняет вред себе; а кто боится заповеди, тому воздается. У сына лукавого ничего нет доброго, а у разумного раба дела благоуспешны, и путь его прямой.
14 The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
Учение мудрого - источник жизни, удаляющий от сетей смерти.
15 Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is hard.
Добрый разум доставляет приятность, путь же беззаконных жесток.
16 Every prudent man dealeth with knowledge: but a fool layeth open his folly.
Всякий благоразумный действует с знанием, а глупый выставляет напоказ глупость.
17 A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health.
Худой посол попадает в беду, а верный посланник - спасение.
18 Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured.
Нищета и посрамление отвергающему учение; а кто соблюдает наставление, будет в чести.
19 The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul: but it is abomination to fools to depart from evil.
Желание исполнившееся - приятно для души; но несносно для глупых уклоняться от зла.
20 He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
Общающийся с мудрыми будет мудр, а кто дружит с глупыми, развратится.
21 Evil pursueth sinners: but to the righteous good shall be rewarded with prosperity.
Грешников преследует зло, а праведникам воздается добром.
22 A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.
Добрый оставляет наследство и внукам, а богатство грешника сберегается для праведного.
23 Much food is in the fallow ground of the poor: but there is that is destroyed for lack of judgment.
Много хлеба бывает и на ниве бедных; но некоторые гибнут от беспорядка.
24 He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him early.
Кто жалеет розги своей, тот ненавидит сына; а кто любит, тот с детства наказывает его.
25 The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall want.
Праведник ест до сытости, а чрево беззаконных терпит лишение.
