Proverbs 12
1 Whoever loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is stupid.
| کسی می‌تواند دانا شود که تأدیب را دوست داشته باشد. هر که از اصلاح شدن نفرت داشته باشد نادان است. |
2 A good man obtaineth favour from the LORD: but a man of wicked devices he will condemn.
| خداوند از اشخاص نیک خشنود است، اما کسانی را که نقشه‌های پلید می‌کشند محکوم می‌کند. |
3 A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.
| انسان با کارهای بد نمی‌تواند برای خود امنیت به وجود آورد، اما اشخاص درستکار پا برجا خواهند ماند. |
4 A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.
| زن نجیب، تاج سر شوهرش است، ولی زن بی‌حیا مانند خوره جان او را می‌خورد. |
5 The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.
| انسان نیک فکرش پر از درستکاری است، اما فکر آدم بدکار انباشته از دروغ و نیرنگ است. |
6 The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
| سخنان بدکاران مردم را به دام هلاکت می‌کشاند، اما سخنان نیکان مردم را رهایی می‌بخشد. |
7 The wicked are overthrown, and are not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.
| بدکاران نابود می‌شوند، اما نیکان پایدار می‌مانند. |
8 A man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.
| آدم عاقل را همه می‌ستایند، اما شخص کوته‌فکر را حقیر می‌شمارند. |
9 He that is despised, and hath a servant, is better than he that honoureth himself, and is destitute of bread.
| بهتر است انسان شخص مهمی به حساب نیاید اما دستش به دهانش برسد تا اینکه خود را آدم بزرگی نشان دهد ولی محتاج نان باشد. |
10 A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
| شخص خداشناس حتی به فکر آسایش چارپایان خود نیز هست، اما رحم و مروت خدانشناسان چیزی به‌جز ستمگری نیست. |
11 He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.
| هر که در زمین خود زراعت کند نان کافی خواهد داشت، اما کسی که وقت خود را به بیهودگی بگذراند آدم احمقی است. |
12 The wicked desireth the net of evil men: but the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.
| اشخاص خدانشناس چشم طمع به اموالی که بدکاران غارت کرده‌اند دارند، اما اعمال خداشناسان، میوۀ خود را می‌دهد. |
13 The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.
| دروغ انسان را در دام گرفتار می‌کند، ولی شخص درستکار از تنگنا خلاصی می‌یابد. |
14 A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: and the recompence of a man’s hands shall be rendered to him.
| پاداش تو بستگی به گفتار و رفتار تو دارد. هر چه بکاری همان را درو خواهی کرد. |
15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth to counsel is wise.
| آدم نادان فکر می‌کند هر کاری می‌کند درست است و احتیاج به نصیحت ندارد، اما شخص دانا به نصایح دیگران گوش می‌دهد. |
16 A fool’s wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame.
| آدم نادان در مقابل توهین دیگران زود خشمگین می‌شود، ولی شخص دانا خونسردی خود را حفظ می‌کند. |
17 He that speaketh truth showeth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.
| وقتی که حقیقت را می‌گویی عدالت اجرا می‌گردد، اما دروغ به بی‌عدالتی منجر می‌شود. |
18 There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.
| هستند کسانی که با سخنان نسنجیدهٔ خود زخم زبان می‌زنند، ولی سخنان مرد دانا تسکین دهنده و شفابخش است. |
19 The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.
| عمر دروغ کوتاه است، اما حقیقت تا ابد پایدار می‌ماند. |
20 Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace is joy.
| افکار توطئه‌گران پر از نیرنگ است، اما دلهای آنانی که خیراندیش هستند آکنده از شادی می‌باشد. |
21 There shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.
| هیچ بدی به خداشناسان نمی‌رسد، اما بدکاران همیشه گرفتار بلا می‌شوند. |
22 Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.
| خدا کسانی را که به قول خود وفا می‌کنند دوست دارد، ولی از اشخاص بدقول بیزار است. |
23 A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.
| آدم عاقل علم و دانش خود را به نمایش نمی‌گذارد، ولی شخص نادان حماقت خود را آشکار می‌سازد. |
24 The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be put to forced labour.
| کار و کوشش، انسان را به قدرت می‌رساند؛ اما تنبلی، او را نوکر دیگران می‌سازد. |
25 Heaviness in the heart of man weigheth it down: but a good word maketh it glad.
| غم و غصه انسان را گرانبار می‌کند، اما سخن دلگرم کننده او را سبکبار و شاد می‌سازد. |
26 The righteous is more excellent than his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduceth them.
| شخص درستکار مردم را به راه راست هدایت می‌کند، اما آدم بدکار آنها را منحرف می‌سازد. |
27 The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious.
| آدم تنبل حتی دنبال شکار خود نیز نمی‌رود. تلاش و کوشش، گنج گرانبهای انسان است. |
28 In the way of righteousness is life; and in the pathway of it there is no death.
| راهی که خداشناسان در آن گام برمی‌دارند به حیات منتهی می‌شود و در آن مرگ نیست. |
