Proverbs 10
1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.
ソロモンの箴言。知恵ある子は父を喜ばせ、愚かな子は母の悲しみとなる。
2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.
不義の宝は益なく、正義は人を救い出して、死を免れさせる。
3 The LORD will not allow the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.
主は正しい人を飢えさせず、悪しき者の欲望をくじかれる。
4 He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.
手を動かすことを怠る者は貧しくなり、勤め働く者の手は富を得る。
5 He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.
夏のうちに集める者は賢い子であり、刈入れの時に眠る者は恥をきたらせる子である。
6 Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
正しい者のこうべには祝福があり、悪しき者の口は暴虐を隠す。
7 The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall perish.
正しい者の名はほめられ、悪しき者の名は朽ちる。
8 The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.
心のさとき者は戒めを受ける、むだ口をたたく愚かな者は滅ぼされる。
9 He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.
まっすぐに歩む者の歩みは安全である、しかし、その道を曲げる者は災にあう。
10 He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall.
目で、めくばせする者は憂いをおこし、あからさまに、戒める者は平和をきたらせる。
11 The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
正しい者の口は命の泉である、悪しき者の口は暴虐を隠す。
12 Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.
憎しみは、争いを起し、愛はすべてのとがをおおう。
13 In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.
さとき者のくちびるには知恵があり、知恵のない者の背にはむちがある。
14 Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.
知恵ある者は知識をたくわえる、愚かな者のむだ口は、今にも滅びをきたらせる。
15 The rich man’s wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty.
富める者の宝は、その堅き城であり、貧しい者の乏しきは、その滅びである。
16 The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.
正しい者の受ける賃銀は命に導き、悪しき者の利得は罪に至る。
17 He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.
教訓を守る者は命の道にあり、懲しめを捨てる者は道をふみ迷う。
18 He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.
憎しみを隠す者には偽りのくちびるがあり、そしりを口に出す者は愚かな者である。
19 In the multitude of words there lacketh not sin: but he that holdeth his lips is wise.
言葉が多ければ、とがを免れない、自分のくちびるを制する者は知恵がある。
20 The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.
正しい者の舌は精銀である、悪しき者の心は価値が少ない。
21 The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for lack of wisdom.
正しい者のくちびるは多くの人を養い、愚かな者は知恵がなくて死ぬ。
22 The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
主の祝福は人を富ませる、主はこれになんの悲しみをも加えない。
23 It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.
愚かな者は、戯れ事のように悪を行う、さとき人には賢い行いが楽しみである。
24 The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.
悪しき者の恐れることは自分に来り、正しい者の願うことは与えられる。
25 As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.
あらしが通りすぎる時、悪しき者は、もはや、いなくなり、正しい者は永久に堅く立てられる。
26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.
なまけ者は、これをつかわす者にとっては、酢が歯をいため、煙が目を悩ますようなものだ。
27 The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
主を恐れることは人の命の日を多くする、悪しき者の年は縮められる。
28 The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.
正しい者の望みは喜びに終り、悪しき者の望みは絶える。
29 The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.
主は、まっすぐに歩む者には城であり、悪を行う者には滅びである。
30 The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.
正しい者はいつまでも動かされることはない、悪しき者は、地に住むことができない。
31 The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the perverse tongue shall be cut out.
正しい者の口は知恵をいだし、偽りの舌は抜かれる。
32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh perverseness.
正しい者のくちびるは喜ばるべきことをわきまえ、悪しき者の口は偽りを語る。
