Luke 2
1 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.
అపరఞ్చ తస్మిన్ కాలే రాజ్యస్య సర్వ్వేషాం లోకానాం నామాని లేఖయితుమ్ అగస్తకైసర ఆజ్ఞాపయామాస|
2 ( And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)
తదనుసారేణ కురీణియనామని సురియాదేశస్య శాసకే సతి నామలేఖనం ప్రారేభే|
3 And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.
అతో హేతో ర్నామ లేఖితుం సర్వ్వే జనాః స్వీయం స్వీయం నగరం జగ్ముః|
4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; ( because he was of the house and lineage of David: )
తదానీం యూషఫ్ నామ లేఖితుం వాగ్దత్తయా స్వభార్య్యయా గర్బ్భవత్యా మరియమా సహ స్వయం దాయూదః సజాతివంశ ఇతి కారణాద్ గాలీల్ప్రదేశస్య నాసరత్నగరాద్
5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
యిహూదాప్రదేశస్య బైత్లేహమాఖ్యం దాయూద్నగరం జగామ|
6 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
అన్యచ్చ తత్ర స్థానే తయోస్తిష్ఠతోః సతో ర్మరియమః ప్రసూతికాల ఉపస్థితే
7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
సా తం ప్రథమసుతం ప్రాసోష్ట కిన్తు తస్మిన్ వాసగృహే స్థానాభావాద్ బాలకం వస్త్రేణ వేష్టయిత్వా గోశాలాయాం స్థాపయామాస|
8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
అనన్తరం యే కియన్తో మేషపాలకాః స్వమేషవ్రజరక్షాయై తత్ప్రదేశే స్థిత్వా రజన్యాం ప్రాన్తరే ప్రహరిణః కర్మ్మ కుర్వ్వన్తి,
9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them: and they were in great fear.
తేషాం సమీపం పరమేశ్వరస్య దూత ఆగత్యోపతస్థౌ; తదా చతుష్పార్శ్వే పరమేశ్వరస్య తేజసః ప్రకాశితత్వాత్ తేఽతిశశఙ్కిరే|
10 And the angel said to them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
తదా స దూత ఉవాచ మా భైష్ట పశ్యతాద్య దాయూదః పురే యుష్మన్నిమిత్తం త్రాతా ప్రభుః ఖ్రీష్టోఽజనిష్ట,
11 For to you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord.
సర్వ్వేషాం లోకానాం మహానన్దజనకమ్ ఇమం మఙ్గలవృత్తాన్తం యుష్మాన్ జ్ఞాపయామి|
12 And this shall be a sign to you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
యూయం (తత్స్థానం గత్వా) వస్త్రవేష్టితం తం బాలకం గోశాలాయాం శయనం ద్రక్ష్యథ యుష్మాన్ ప్రతీదం చిహ్నం భవిష్యతి|
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
దూత ఇమాం కథాం కథితవతి తత్రాకస్మాత్ స్వర్గీయాః పృతనా ఆగత్య కథామ్ ఇమాం కథయిత్వేశ్వరస్య గుణానన్వవాదిషుః, యథా,
14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
సర్వ్వోర్ద్వ్వస్థైరీశ్వరస్య మహిమా సమ్ప్రకాశ్యతాం| శాన్తిర్భూయాత్ పృథివ్యాస్తు సన్తోషశ్చ నరాన్ ప్రతి||
15 And it came to pass, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even to Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known to us.
తతః పరం తేషాం సన్నిధే ర్దూతగణే స్వర్గం గతే మేషపాలకాః పరస్పరమ్ అవేచన్ ఆగచ్ఛత ప్రభుః పరమేశ్వరో యాం ఘటనాం జ్ఞాపితవాన్ తస్యా యాథర్యం జ్ఞాతుం వయమధునా బైత్లేహమ్పురం యామః|
16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.
పశ్చాత్ తే తూర్ణం వ్రజిత్వా మరియమం యూషఫం గోశాలాయాం శయనం బాలకఞ్చ దదృశుః|
17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
ఇత్థం దృష్ట్వా బాలకస్యార్థే ప్రోక్తాం సర్వ్వకథాం తే ప్రాచారయాఞ్చక్రుః|
18 And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
తతో యే లోకా మేషరక్షకాణాం వదనేభ్యస్తాం వార్త్తాం శుశ్రువుస్తే మహాశ్చర్య్యం మేనిరే|
19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
కిన్తు మరియమ్ ఏతత్సర్వ్వఘటనానాం తాత్పర్య్యం వివిచ్య మనసి స్థాపయామాస|
20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told to them.
తత్పశ్చాద్ దూతవిజ్ఞప్తానురూపం శ్రుత్వా దృష్ట్వా చ మేషపాలకా ఈశ్వరస్య గుణానువాదం ధన్యవాదఞ్చ కుర్వ్వాణాః పరావృత్య యయుః|
21 And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, who was so named by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
అథ బాలకస్య త్వక్ఛేదనకాలేఽష్టమదివసే సముపస్థితే తస్య గర్బ్భస్థితేః పుర్వ్వం స్వర్గీయదూతో యథాజ్ఞాపయత్ తదనురూపం తే తన్నామధేయం యీశురితి చక్రిరే|
22 And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord;
తతః పరం మూసాలిఖితవ్యవస్థాయా అనుసారేణ మరియమః శుచిత్వకాల ఉపస్థితే,
23 ( As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord; )
"ప్రథమజః సర్వ్వః పురుషసన్తానః పరమేశ్వరే సమర్ప్యతాం," ఇతి పరమేశ్వరస్య వ్యవస్థయా
24 And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.
యీశుం పరమేశ్వరే సమర్పయితుమ్ శాస్త్రీయవిధ్యుక్తం కపోతద్వయం పారావతశావకద్వయం వా బలిం దాతుం తే తం గృహీత్వా యిరూశాలమమ్ ఆయయుః|
25 And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was righteous and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Spirit was upon him.
యిరూశాలమ్పురనివాసీ శిమియోన్నామా ధార్మ్మిక ఏక ఆసీత్ స ఇస్రాయేలః సాన్త్వనామపేక్ష్య తస్థౌ కిఞ్చ పవిత్ర ఆత్మా తస్మిన్నావిర్భూతః|
26 And it was revealed to him by the Holy Spirit, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.
అపరం ప్రభుణా పరమేశ్వరేణాభిషిక్తే త్రాతరి త్వయా న దృష్టే త్వం న మరిష్యసీతి వాక్యం పవిత్రేణ ఆత్మనా తస్మ ప్రాకథ్యత|
27 And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,
అపరఞ్చ యదా యీశోః పితా మాతా చ తదర్థం వ్యవస్థానురూపం కర్మ్మ కర్త్తుం తం మన్దిరమ్ ఆనిన్యతుస్తదా
28 Then he took him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,
శిమియోన్ ఆత్మన ఆకర్షణేన మన్దిరమాగత్య తం క్రోడే నిధాయ ఈశ్వరస్య ధన్యవాదం కృత్వా కథయామాస, యథా,
29 Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:
హే ప్రభో తవ దాసోయం నిజవాక్యానుసారతః| ఇదానీన్తు సకల్యాణో భవతా సంవిసృజ్యతామ్|
30 For my eyes have seen thy salvation,
యతః సకలదేశస్య దీప్తయే దీప్తిరూపకం|
31 Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;
ఇస్రాయేలీయలోకస్య మహాగౌరవరూపకం|
32 A light to enlighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.
యం త్రాయకం జనానాన్తు సమ్ముఖే త్వమజీజనః| సఏవ విద్యతేఽస్మాకం ధ్రవం నయననగోచరే||
33 And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken concerning him.
తదానీం తేనోక్తా ఏతాః సకలాః కథాః శ్రుత్వా తస్య మాతా యూషఫ్ చ విస్మయం మేనాతే|
34 And Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against;
తతః పరం శిమియోన్ తేభ్య ఆశిషం దత్త్వా తన్మాతరం మరియమమ్ ఉవాచ, పశ్య ఇస్రాయేలో వంశమధ్యే బహూనాం పాతనాయోత్థాపనాయ చ తథా విరోధపాత్రం భవితుం, బహూనాం గుప్తమనోగతానాం ప్రకటీకరణాయ బాలకోయం నియుక్తోస్తి|
35 ( And, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also, ) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.
తస్మాత్ తవాపి ప్రాణాః శూలేన వ్యత్స్యన్తే|
36 And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity;
అపరఞ్చ ఆశేరస్య వంశీయఫినూయేలో దుహితా హన్నాఖ్యా అతిజరతీ భవిష్యద్వాదిన్యేకా యా వివాహాత్ పరం సప్త వత్సరాన్ పత్యా సహ న్యవసత్ తతో విధవా భూత్వా చతురశీతివర్షవయఃపర్య్యనతం
37 And she was a widow of about eighty and four years, who departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.
మన్దిరే స్థిత్వా ప్రార్థనోపవాసైర్దివానిశమ్ ఈశ్వరమ్ అసేవత సాపి స్త్రీ తస్మిన్ సమయే మన్దిరమాగత్య
38 And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise to the Lord, and spoke of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.
పరమేశ్వరస్య ధన్యవాదం చకార, యిరూశాలమ్పురవాసినో యావన్తో లోకా ముక్తిమపేక్ష్య స్థితాస్తాన్ యీశోర్వృత్తాన్తం జ్ఞాపయామాస|
39 And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.
ఇత్థం పరమేశ్వరస్య వ్యవస్థానుసారేణ సర్వ్వేషు కర్మ్మసు కృతేషు తౌ పునశ్చ గాలీలో నాసరత్నామకం నిజనగరం ప్రతస్థాతే|
40 And the child grew, and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.
తత్పశ్చాద్ బాలకః శరీరేణ వృద్ధిమేత్య జ్ఞానేన పరిపూర్ణ ఆత్మనా శక్తిమాంశ్చ భవితుమారేభే తథా తస్మిన్ ఈశ్వరానుగ్రహో బభూవ|
41 Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover.
తస్య పితా మాతా చ ప్రతివర్షం నిస్తారోత్సవసమయే యిరూశాలమమ్ అగచ్ఛతామ్|
42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast.
అపరఞ్చ యీశౌ ద్వాదశవర్షవయస్కే సతి తౌ పర్వ్వసమయస్య రీత్యనుసారేణ యిరూశాలమం గత్వా
43 And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it.
పార్వ్వణం సమ్పాద్య పునరపి వ్యాఘుయ్య యాతః కిన్తు యీశుర్బాలకో యిరూశాలమి తిష్ఠతి| యూషఫ్ తన్మాతా చ తద్ అవిదిత్వా
44 But they, supposing him to be in the company, went a day’s journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance.
స సఙ్గిభిః సహ విద్యత ఏతచ్చ బుద్వ్వా దినైకగమ్యమార్గం జగ్మతుః| కిన్తు శేషే జ్ఞాతిబన్ధూనాం సమీపే మృగయిత్వా తదుద్దేశమప్రాప్య
45 And when they found him not, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking him.
తౌ పునరపి యిరూశాలమమ్ పరావృత్యాగత్య తం మృగయాఞ్చక్రతుః|
46 And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both hearing them, and asking them questions.
అథ దినత్రయాత్ పరం పణ్డితానాం మధ్యే తేషాం కథాః శృణ్వన్ తత్త్వం పృచ్ఛంశ్చ మన్దిరే సముపవిష్టః స తాభ్యాం దృష్టః|
47 And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.
తదా తస్య బుద్ధ్యా ప్రత్యుత్తరైశ్చ సర్వ్వే శ్రోతారో విస్మయమాపద్యన్తే|
48 And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said to him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.
తాదృశం దృష్ట్వా తస్య జనకో జననీ చ చమచ్చక్రతుః కిఞ్చ తస్య మాతా తమవదత్, హే పుత్ర, కథమావాం ప్రతీత్థం సమాచరస్త్వమ్? పశ్య తవ పితాహఞ్చ శోకాకులౌ సన్తౌ త్వామన్విచ్ఛావః స్మ|
49 And he said to them, How is it that ye sought me? knew ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?
తతః సోవదత్ కుతో మామ్ అన్వైచ్ఛతం? పితుర్గృహే మయా స్థాతవ్యమ్ ఏతత్ కిం యువాభ్యాం న జ్ఞాయతే?
50 And they understood not the saying which he spoke to them.
కిన్తు తౌ తస్యైతద్వాక్యస్య తాత్పర్య్యం బోద్ధుం నాశక్నుతాం|
51 And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.
తతః పరం స తాభ్యాం సహ నాసరతం గత్వా తయోర్వశీభూతస్తస్థౌ కిన్తు సర్వ్వా ఏతాః కథాస్తస్య మాతా మనసి స్థాపయామాస|
52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.
అథ యీశో ర్బుద్ధిః శరీరఞ్చ తథా తస్మిన్ ఈశ్వరస్య మానవానాఞ్చానుగ్రహో వర్ద్ధితుమ్ ఆరేభే|
