Luke 15
1 Then drew near to him all the tax collectors and sinners to hear him.
さて，徴税人たちや罪人たちがみな，彼の話を聞こうとして近づいて来た。
2 And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.
ファリサイ人と律法学者たちはつぶやいて言った，「この人は，罪人たちを歓迎して一緒に食事をする」。
3 And he spoke this parable to them, saying,
彼は彼らに次のたとえを話した。
4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he loseth one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he findeth it?
「あなた方のうちのだれが，百匹の羊がいて，そのうちの一匹を失ってしまったなら，九十九匹を荒野に残しておいて，失われた一匹を，それが見つかるまで探しに行かないだろうか。
5 And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
それを見つけると，喜びながらそれを自分の肩に載せる。
6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying to them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.
家に帰ると，自分の友人たちや隣人たちを呼び寄せて，彼らに言うのだ，『わたしと一緒に喜んでくれ。失われていたわたしの羊を見つけたからだ！』
7 I say to you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine righteous persons, who need no repentance.
あなた方に告げるが，悔い改める一人の罪人については，悔い改める必要のない九十九人の義人たち以上の喜びが天にあるだろう。
8 Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she loseth one piece, doth not light a lamp, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she findeth it?
あるいは，どの女が，十枚のドラクマ硬貨を持っていて，一枚のドラクマ硬貨を失ったなら，ともし火をつけ，家を掃き，それが見つかるまで念入りに探さないだろうか。
9 And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost.
それを見つけると，自分の友人たちや隣人たちを呼び集め，こう言うのだ，『わたしと一緒に喜んでください。失っていたドラクマを見つけたからです』。
10 Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.
そのゆえにも，あなた方に告げる。悔い改める一人の罪人については，神のみ使いたちの面前で喜びがあるのだ」 。
11 And he said, A certain man had two sons:
彼は言った，「ある人に二人の息子がいた。
12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided to them his living.
そのうちの年下のほうが父親に言った，『お父さん，財産のうちわたしの取り分を下さい』。父親は自分の資産を二人に分けてやった。
13 And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.
何日もしないうちに，年下の息子はすべてを取りまとめて遠い地方に旅立った。彼はそこで羽目を外した生活をして自分の財産を浪費した。
14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.
すべてを使い果たした時，その地方にひどいききんが起こって，彼は困窮し始めた。
15 And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.
彼はその地方の住民たちの一人のところに行って身を寄せたが，その人は彼を自分の畑に送って豚の世話をさせた。
16 And he was longing to fill his belly with the husks that the swine ate: and no man gave to him.
彼は，豚たちの食べている豆のさやで腹を満たしたいと思ったが，彼に何かをくれる者はいなかった。
17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father have bread enough and to spare, and I am perishing with hunger!
だが，我に返った時，彼は言った，『父のところでは，あれほど大勢の雇い人たちにあり余るほどのパンがあるのに，わたしは飢えて死にそうだ！
18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,
立ち上がって，父のところに行き，こう言おう，「お父さん，わたしは天に対しても，あなたの前でも罪を犯しました。
19 And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.
わたしはもはやあなたの息子と呼ばれるには値しません。あなたの雇い人の一人のようにしてください」』。
20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.
「彼は立って，自分の父親のところに帰って来た。だが，彼がまだ遠くにいる間に，彼の父親は彼を見て，哀れみに動かされ，走り寄って，その首を抱き，彼に口づけした。
21 And the son said to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.
息子は父親に言った，『お父さん，わたしは天に対しても，あなたの前でも罪を犯しました。わたしはもはやあなたの息子と呼ばれるには値しません』。
22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:
「だが，父親は召使いたちに言った，『最上の衣を持って来て，彼に着せなさい。手に指輪をはめ，足に履物をはかせなさい。
23 And bring here the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:
肥えた子牛を連れて来て，それをほふりなさい。そして，食べて，お祝いをしよう。
24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.
このわたしの息子が，死んでいたのに生き返ったからだ。失われていたのに，見つかったのだ』。彼らは祝い始めた。
25 Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing.
「さて，年上の息子は畑にいた。家のそばに来ると，音楽や踊りの音が聞こえた。
26 And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant.
召使いたちの一人を呼び寄せ，どうしたのかと尋ねた。
27 And he said to him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound.
召使いは彼に言った，『あなたの弟さんが来られたのです。それで，あなたのお父様は，弟さんを無事に健康な姿で迎えたというので，肥えた子牛をほふられたのです』。
28 And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore his father came out, and entreated him.
ところが，彼は腹を立て，中に入ろうとしなかった。そのため，彼の父親が出て来て，彼に懇願した。
29 And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither have I at any time transgressed thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:
だが，彼は父親に答えた，『ご覧なさい，わたしはこれほど長い年月あなたに仕えてきて，一度もあなたのおきてに背いたことはありません。それでも，わたしには，わたしの友人たちと一緒に祝うために，ヤギ一匹さえ下さったことがありません。
30 But as soon as this thy son had come, who hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.
それなのに，あなたの財産を売春婦たちと一緒に食いつぶした，このあなたの息子がやって来ると，あなたは彼のために肥えた子牛をほふられました』。
31 And he said to him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.
「父親は彼に言った，『息子よ，お前はいつもわたしと一緒にいるし，わたしのものは全部お前のものだ。
32 It was right that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.
だが，このことは祝って喜ぶのにふさわしい。このお前の弟が，死んでいたのに生き返ったからだ。失われていたのに，見つかったのだ』」 。
