Judges 1
1 Now after the death of Joshua it came to pass, that the children of Israel asked the LORD, saying, Who shall go up for us against the Canaanites first, to fight against them?
ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಮರಣ ಹೊಂದಿದ ಬಳಿಕ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು, “ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರೊಡನೆ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಮೊದಲು ಯಾರು ಹೋಗಬೇಕು?” ಎಂದು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದರು.
2 And the LORD said, Judah shall go up: behold, I have delivered the land into his hand.
ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು, “ಯೆಹೂದ ಗೋತ್ರದವರು ಹೋಗಲಿ; ನಾನು ಆ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಇವರ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇನೆ,” ಎಂದರು.
3 And Judah said to Simeon his brother, Come up with me into my lot, that we may fight against the Canaanites; and I likewise will go with thee into thy lot. So Simeon went with him.
ಯೆಹೂದ ಗೋತ್ರದವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಸಹೋದರರಾದ ಸಿಮೆಯೋನ್ಯರಿಗೆ, “ನೀವು ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ನಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರಾಂತಕ್ಕೆ ಬನ್ನಿರಿ, ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರ ಮೇಲೆ ಯುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡೋಣ. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ನಾವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರಾಂತಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುತ್ತೇವೆ,” ಎಂದರು. ಹೀಗೆ ಸಿಮೆಯೋನ್ಯರು ಅವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಹೋದರು.
4 And Judah went up; and the LORD delivered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hand: and they slew of them in Bezek ten thousand men.
ಯೆಹೂದ ಗೋತ್ರದವರು ಹೋದಾಗ, ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರನ್ನೂ ಪೆರಿಜೀಯರನ್ನೂ ಅವರ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟರು. ಅವರು ಬೆಜೆಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಹತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರನ್ನು ಕೊಂದರು.
5 And they found Adonibezek in Bezek: and they fought against him, and they slew the Canaanites and the Perizzites.
ಅವರು ಬೆಜೆಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅರಸನಾದ ಅದೋನೀಬೆಜೆಕನನ್ನು ಸಂಧಿಸಿ, ಅವನ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿ, ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರನ್ನೂ ಪೆರಿಜೀಯರನ್ನೂ ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿದರು.
6 But Adonibezek fled; and they pursued him, and caught him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes.
ಆದರೆ ಅದೋನೀಬೆಜೆಕನು ಓಡಿ ಹೋದದ್ದರಿಂದ, ಅವನನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟಿ ಹಿಡಿದು, ಅವನ ಕೈಕಾಲುಗಳ ಹೆಬ್ಬೆರಳುಗಳನ್ನು ಕತ್ತರಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟರು.
7 And Adonibezek said, seventy kings, having their thumbs and their great toes cut off, gathered their food under my table: as I have done, so God hath repaid me. And they brought him to Jerusalem, and there he died.
ಆಗ ಅದೋನೀಬೆಜೆಕನು, “ನಾನು ಕೈಕಾಲುಗಳ ಹೆಬ್ಬೆರಳುಗಳನ್ನು ಕತ್ತರಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟ ಎಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ಅರಸರು, ನನ್ನ ಮೇಜಿನ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಬೀಳುವ ಚೂರುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ತಿನ್ನುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ನಾನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದಂತೆಯೇ, ದೇವರು ನನಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ,” ಎಂದನು. ಅವರು ಅವನನ್ನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದರು. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನು ಮರಣಹೊಂದಿದನು.
8 Now the children of Judah had fought against Jerusalem, and had taken it, and smitten it with the edge of the sword, and set the city on fire.
ಯೆಹೂದ ಗೋತ್ರದವರು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿ, ಅಲ್ಲಿದ್ದವರನ್ನು ಖಡ್ಗದಿಂದ ಸಂಹರಿಸಿ, ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಬೆಂಕಿಯಿಂದ ಸುಟ್ಟುಬಿಟ್ಟರು.
9 And afterward the children of Judah went down to fight against the Canaanites, that dwelt on the mountain, and in the south, and in the valley.
ತರುವಾಯ ಯೆಹೂದ ಗೋತ್ರದವರು ಬೆಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ದಕ್ಷಿಣದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ತಗ್ಗಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ವಾಸಿಸಿದ ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದರು.
10 And Judah went against the Canaanites that dwelt in Hebron: (now the name of Hebron before was Kirjatharba: ) and they slew Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai.
ಯೆಹೂದ ಗೋತ್ರದವರು ಪೂರ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಿರ್ಯತ್ ಅರ್ಬ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರಿದ್ದ ಹೆಬ್ರೋನಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದ ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಶೇಷೈ, ಅಹೀಮನ್, ತಲ್ಮೈರನ್ನು ಸೋಲಿಸಿದರು.
11 And from there he went against the inhabitants of Debir: and the name of Debir before was Kirjathsepher:
ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ದೆಬೀರಿನ ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಹೋದರು. ದೆಬೀರಿಗೆ ಮೊದಲು ಕಿರ್ಯತ್ ಸೇಫೆರ್ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರಿತ್ತು.
12 And Caleb said, He that smiteth Kirjathsepher, and taketh it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter for a wife.
ಕಾಲೇಬನು, “ಕಿರ್ಯತ್ ಸೇಫೆರ ಮೇಲೆ ದಾಳಿಮಾಡಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವವನಿಗೆ ನನ್ನ ಮಗಳಾದ ಅಕ್ಸಾ ಎಂಬಾಕೆಯನ್ನು ಮದುವೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದನು.
13 And Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother, took it: and he gave him Achsah his daughter for a wife.
ಆಗ ಕಾಲೇಬನ ತಮ್ಮನಾದ ಕೆನಾಜನ ಮಗನಾದ ಒತ್ನಿಯೇಲನು ಅದನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದನು. ಅನಂತರ ಕಾಲೇಬನು ತನ್ನ ಮಗಳಾದ ಅಕ್ಸಾ ಎಂಬಾಕೆಯನ್ನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಮದುವೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
14 And it came to pass, when she came to him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she got off her donkey; and Caleb said to her, What wilt thou?
ಒಂದು ದಿನ ಅಕ್ಷಾ ಒತ್ನಿಯೇಲನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಬರುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಇನ್ನೂ ಒಂದು ಹೊಲವನ್ನು ಕೇಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವನನ್ನು ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಿಸಿ, ಕತ್ತೆಯ ಮೇಲಿನಿಂದ ಇಳಿದಳು. ಆಗ ಕಾಲೇಬನು ಅವಳಿಗೆ, “ನಿನಗೆ ಏನು ಬೇಕು?” ಎಂದನು.
15 And she said to him, Give me a blessing: for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And Caleb gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.
ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವಳು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನನಗೆ ಒಂದು ಸಹಾಯಮಾಡಬೇಕು. ಮೊದಲು ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಹೊಲವನ್ನು ನೀನು ನನಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟೆ; ನೀರಿನ ಬುಗ್ಗೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸಹ ನನಗೆ ಕೊಡು,” ಎಂದಳು. ಆಗ ಕಾಲೇಬನು ಅವಳಿಗೆ ಮೇಲಿನ ಹಾಗೂ ಕೆಳಗಿನ ನೀರಿನ ಬುಗ್ಗೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
16 And the children of the Kenite, Moses’ father in law, went up out of the city of palm trees with the children of Judah into the wilderness of Judah, which lieth in the south of Arad; and they went and dwelt among the people.
ಮೋಶೆಯ ಮಾವನಾದ ಕೇನ್ಯನ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಖರ್ಜೂರ ಗಿಡಗಳ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು, ಯೆಹೂದ ಗೋತ್ರದವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಅರಾದಿಗೆ ದಕ್ಷಿಣಕ್ಕಿರುವ ಯೆಹೂದದ ಗೋತ್ರದವರ ಮರುಭೂಮಿಗೆ ಬಂದು, ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ಜನರ ಸಂಗಡ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದರು.
17 And Judah went with Simeon his brother, and they slew the Canaanites that inhabited Zephath, and utterly destroyed it. And the name of the city was called Hormah.
ಯೆಹೂದ ಗೋತ್ರದವರು ತನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರರಾದ ಸಿಮೆಯೋನ್ಯರ ಸಂಗಡ ಹೊರಟು, ಚೆಫೆತ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿರುವ ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರ ಮೇಲೆ ದಾಳಿಮಾಡಿ, ಆ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮೂಲ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ಆ ಪಟ್ಟಣವು ಹೊರ್ಮಾ ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯಲಾಗಿತ್ತು.
18 Also Judah took Gaza with its land, and Askelon with its land, and Ekron with its land.
ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಯೆಹೂದ ಗೋತ್ರದವರು ಗಾಜಾವನ್ನೂ ಅದರ ಮೇರೆಯನ್ನೂ; ಅಷ್ಕೆಲೋನನ್ನೂ, ಅದರ ಮೇರೆಯನ್ನೂ; ಎಕ್ರೋನನ್ನೂ, ಅದರ ಮೇರೆಯನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡರು.
19 And the LORD was with Judah; and he drove out the inhabitants of the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron.
ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಯೆಹೂದ ಗೋತ್ರದವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದುದರಿಂದ, ಅವರು ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಆದರೆ ತಗ್ಗಿನ ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಕಬ್ಬಿಣದ ರಥಗಳಿದ್ದುದರಿಂದ, ಅವರು ಅವರನ್ನು ಹೊರಡಿಸಲಾರದೆ ಹೋದರು.
20 And they gave Hebron to Caleb, as Moses said: and he drove out from there the three sons of Anak.
ಮೋಶೆಯು ಹೇಳಿದ ಪ್ರಕಾರ, ಅವರು ಹೆಬ್ರೋನನ್ನು ಕಾಲೇಬನಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟರು. ಅವರು ಅನಾಕನ ಮೂವರು ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಹೊರಡಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟರು.
21 And the children of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites that inhabited Jerusalem; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Benjamin in Jerusalem to this day.
ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದ ಯೆಬೂಸಿಯರನ್ನು ಹೊರಡಿಸಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದುದರಿಂದ ಯೆಬೂಸಿಯರು ಈ ದಿನದವರೆಗೂ ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನರ ಸಂಗಡ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
22 And the house of Joseph, they also went up against Bethel: and the LORD was with them.
ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಯೋಸೇಫನ ಮನೆಯವರು ಬೇತೇಲಿಗೆ ಏರಿಹೋದರು. ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಅವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದರು.
23 And the house of Joseph sent to spy out Bethel. (Now the name of the city before was Luz.)
ಆದರೆ ಮೊದಲು ಲೂಜ್ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಿದ್ದ ಬೇತೇಲೆಂಬ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಸಂಚರಿಸಿ ನೋಡಲು, ಯೋಸೇಫನ ಮನೆಯವರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
24 And the spies saw a man coming out of the city, and they said to him, Show us, we pray thee, the entrance into the city, and we will show thee mercy.
ಗೂಢಚಾರರು ಪಟ್ಟಣದೊಳಗಿಂದ ಬರುವ ಒಬ್ಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯನನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ದಯಮಾಡಿ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸುವ ಮಾರ್ಗವನ್ನು ನಮಗೆ ತೋರಿಸು. ನಾವು ನಿನಗೆ ಕರುಣೆ ತೋರಿಸುವೆವು,” ಎಂದರು.
25 And when he showed them the entrance into the city, they smote the city with the edge of the sword; but they let go the man and all his family.
ಅವನು ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸುವ ಮಾರ್ಗವನ್ನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ತೋರಿಸಿದಾಗ, ಅವರು ಬಂದು ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಖಡ್ಗದಿಂದ ಹೊಡೆದು, ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನನ್ನೂ ಅವನ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಕುಟುಂಬವನ್ನೂ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟರು.
26 And the man went into the land of the Hittites, and built a city, and called the name of it Luz: which is its name to this day.
ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಹಿತ್ತಿಯರ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ, ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿ, ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಲೂಜ್ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟನು. ಈವರೆಗೂ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅದೇ ಹೆಸರಿದೆ.
27 Neither did Manasseh drive out the inhabitants of Bethshean and its towns, nor Taanach and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Ibleam and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns: but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.
ಮನಸ್ಸೆಯ ಗೋತ್ರದವರು ಬೇತ್ ಷೆಯಾನರನ್ನೂ, ಅವರ ಊರುಗಳವರನ್ನೂ; ತಾನಕದವರನ್ನೂ, ಅವರ ಊರುಗಳವರನ್ನೂ; ದೋರಿನವರನ್ನೂ, ಅವರ ಊರುಗಳವರನ್ನೂ; ಇಬ್ಲೆಯಾಮಿನವರನ್ನೂ, ಅವರ ಊರುಗಳವರನ್ನೂ, ಮೆಗಿದ್ದೋನಿನವರನ್ನೂ, ಅವರ ಊರುಗಳವರನ್ನೂ ಹೊರಡಿಸಿಬಿಡಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರಾದ ಇವರು ಆ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದಿದ್ದರು.
28 And it came to pass, when Israel was strong, that they subjected the Canaanites to forced labour, and did not utterly drive them out.
ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಬಲಗೊಂಡಾಗ, ಅವರನ್ನು ಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಹೊರಡಿಸಿಬಿಡದೆ, ಅವರನ್ನು ದಾಸತ್ವಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರಿಗೆ ನೇಮಕ ಮಾಡಿದರು.
29 Neither did Ephraim drive out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer; but the Canaanites dwelt in Gezer among them.
ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಎಫ್ರಾಯೀಮ್ಯರು ಗೆಜೆರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದ ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರನ್ನು ಹೊರಡಿಸಿಬಿಡಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರು ಗೆಜೆರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ಸಂಗಡ ವಾಸಿಸಿದ್ದರು.
30 Neither did Zebulun drive out the inhabitants of Kitron, nor the inhabitants of Nahalol; but the Canaanites dwelt among them, and became forced labourers.
ಜೆಬುಲೂನ್ಯರು ಕಿಟ್ರೋನಿನ ವಾಸಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ನಹಲೋಲಿನ ವಾಸಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ಹೊರಡಿಸಿಬಿಡಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರಾದ ಇವರು ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ದಾಸರಾಗಿ ವಾಸಮಾಡುವವರಾದರು.
31 Neither did Asher drive out the inhabitants of Accho, nor the inhabitants of Zidon, nor of Ahlab, nor of Achzib, nor of Helbah, nor of Aphik, nor of Rehob:
ಆಶೇರ್ಯರು ಅಕ್ಕೋವಿನ ವಾಸಿಗಳನ್ನೂ; ಸೀದೋನಿನ ವಾಸಿಗಳನ್ನೂ; ಅಹ್ಲಾಬ್, ಅಕ್ಜೀಬ್, ಹೆಲ್ಬಾ, ಅಫೀಕ್, ರೆಹೋಬ್ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳ ವಾಸಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ಹೊರಡಿಸಿಬಿಡಲಿಲ್ಲ.
32 But the Asherites dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: for they did not drive them out.
ಆದರೆ ಆಶೇರ್ಯರು ಅವರನ್ನು ಹೊರಡಿಸಿಬಿಡದೆ, ಆ ದೇಶದ ವಾಸಿಗಳಾದ ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದರು.
33 Neither did Naphtali drive out the inhabitants of Bethshemesh, nor the inhabitants of Bethanath; but he dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: nevertheless the inhabitants of Bethshemesh and of Bethanath became forced labourers to them.
ನಫ್ತಾಲಿ ಗೋತ್ರದವರು ಬೇತ್ ಷೆಮೆಷ್ ವಾಸಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ಹೊರಡಿಸಿಬಿಡದೆ, ಆ ದೇಶವಾಸಿಗಳಾದ ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಆದರೆ ಬೇತ್ ಷೆಮೆಷ್, ಬೇತ್ ಅನಾತ್ ಪಟ್ಟಣ ವಾಸಿಗಳು ಅವರಿಗೆ ದಾಸರಾದರು.
34 And the Amorites forced the children of Dan to the mountain: for they would not allow them to come down to the valley:
ಅಮೋರಿಯರು ದಾನ್ಯರನ್ನು ತಗ್ಗಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇಳಿಯಗೊಡದೆ, ಬೆಟ್ಟಗಳಿಗೆ ಓಡಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟರು
35 But the Amorites would dwell in mount Heres in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim: yet the hand of the house of Joseph prevailed, so that they became forced labourers.
ಹೀಗೆ ಅಮೋರಿಯರು ಹರ್‌ಹೆರೆಸ್ ಬೆಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಅಯ್ಯಾಲೋನಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಶಾಲ್ಬೀಮಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ವಾಸಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದಿದ್ದರು. ಆದರೆ ಯೋಸೇಫನ ಗೋತ್ರದವರ ಕೈ ಬಲ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾದದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವರಿಗೆ ದಾಸರಾದರು.
36 And the border of the Amorites was from the ascent to Akrabbim, from the rock, and upward.
ಹೀಗೆ ಅಮೋರಿಯರ ಮೇರೆಯು ಅಕ್ರಬ್ಬೀಮನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ಸೆಲ ಬಂಡೆಯಿಂದ ಮೇಲಕ್ಕೆ ವಿಸ್ತರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದೆ.
