Judges 6
1 And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD: and the LORD delivered them into the hand of Midian seven years.
Mas los hijos de Israel hicieron lo malo en los ojos de Jehová, y Jehová los entregó en las manos de Madián siete años.
2 And the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel: and because of the Midianites the children of Israel made them the dens which are in the mountains, and caves, and strong holds.
Y la mano de Madián prevaleció contra Israel. Y los hijos de Israel por causa de los Madianitas se hicieron cuevas en los montes, y cavernas, y lugares fuertes.
3 And so it was, when Israel had sown, that the Midianites came up, and the Amalekites, and the children of the east, even they came up against them;
Porque como los de Israel habían sembrado, subían los Madianitas y Amalecitas, y los hijos de oriente subían contra ellos:
4 And they encamped against them, and destroyed the increase of the earth, till thou comest to Gaza, and left no sustenance for Israel, neither sheep, nor ox, nor donkey.
Y asentando campo contra ellos destruían los frutos de la tierra hasta llegar a Gaza: no dejando que comer en Israel, ni ovejas, ni bueyes, ni asnos.
5 For they came up with their cattle and their tents, and they came as grasshoppers for multitude; for both they and their camels were without number: and they entered into the land to destroy it.
Porque subían ellos y sus ganados, y venían con sus tiendas en grande multitud como langosta, que no había número en ellos ni en sus camellos: y venían en la tierra destruyéndola.
6 And Israel was greatly impoverished because of the Midianites; and the children of Israel cried to the LORD.
E Israel era en grande manera empobrecido por los Madianitas: y los hijos de Israel clamaron a Jehová.
7 And it came to pass, when the children of Israel cried to the LORD because of the Midianites,
Y cuando los hijos de Israel hubieron clamado a Jehová, a causa de los Madianitas,
8 That the LORD sent a prophet to the children of Israel, who said to them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I brought you up from Egypt, and brought you forth from the house of bondage;
Jehová envió un varón profeta a los hijos de Israel, el cual les dijo: Así dijo Jehová Dios de Israel: Yo os saqué de Egipto, y de la casa de servidumbre os saqué:
9 And I delivered you from the hand of the Egyptians, and from the hand of all that oppressed you, and drove them out from before you, and gave you their land;
Yo os libré de mano de los Egipcios y de mano de todos los que os afligieron: a los cuales eché de delante de vosotros, y os di su tierra;
10 And I said to you, I am the LORD your God; fear not the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but ye have not obeyed my voice.
Y os dije: Yo soy Jehová vuestro Dios, no temáis a los dioses de los Amorreos en cuya tierra habitáis, mas no oísteis mi voz.
11 And there came an angel of the LORD, and sat under an oak which was in Ophrah, that pertained to Joash the Abiezrite: and his son Gideon threshed wheat by the winepress, to hide it from the Midianites.
Y vino el ángel de Jehová, y sentóse debajo del alcornoque que está en Efra, el cual era de Joas Abiezerita; y su hijo Gedeón estaba sacudiendo el trigo en el lagar, para hacerlo esconder de los Madianitas.
12 And the angel of the LORD appeared to him, and said to him, The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.
Y el ángel de Jehová se le apareció, y díjole: Jehová es contigo varón valiente de fuerza.
13 And Gideon said to him, O my Lord, if the LORD is with us, why then hath all this befallen us? and where are all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.
Y Gedeón le respondió: Ay, Señor mío, si Jehová es con nosotros; ¿por qué nos ha comprendido todo esto? ¿Y dónde están todas sus maravillas, que nuestros padres nos han contado, diciendo: No nos sacó Jehová de Egipto? Y ahora Jehová nos ha desamparado, y nos ha entregado en mano de los Madianitas.
14 And the LORD looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee?
Y mirándole Jehová, díjole: Anda, vé con esta tu fortaleza, y salvarás a Israel de la mano de los Madianitas. ¿No te envío yo?
15 And he said to him, O my Lord, how shall I save Israel? behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.
El entonces le respondió: Ay, Señor mío, ¿con qué tengo de salvar a Israel? He aquí que mi familia es pobre en Manasés: y yo el menor en la casa de mi padre.
16 And the LORD said to him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man.
Y Jehová le dijo: Porque yo seré contigo; y tú herirás a los Madianitas, como a un varón.
17 And he said to him, If now I have found grace in thy sight, then show me a sign that thou talkest with me.
Y él respondió: Yo te ruego, que, si he hallado gracia delante de ti, me des señal, de que tú has hablado conmigo.
18 Depart not from here, I pray thee, until I come to thee, and bring forth my present, and set it before thee. And he said, I will tarry until thou comest again.
Ruégote, que no te vayas de aquí hasta que yo vuelva a ti, y saque mi presente, y lo ponga delante de ti. Y él respondió: Yo esperaré hasta que vuelvas.
19 And Gideon went in, and made ready a kid, and unleavened cakes of an ephah of flour: the flesh he put in a basket, and he put the broth in a pot, and brought it out to him under the oak, and presented it.
Y entrándose Gedeón aparejó un cabrito de las cabras, y panes sin levadura de un efa de harina, y puso la carne en un canastillo; y el caldo en una olla: y sacándolo presentóselo debajo de aquel alcornoque.
20 And the angel of God said to him, Take the flesh and the unleavened cakes, and lay them upon this rock, and pour out the broth. And he did so.
Y el ángel de Dios le dijo: Toma la carne, y los panes sin levadura, y pónlo sobre esta peña: y vierte el caldo. Y él lo hizo así.
21 Then the angel of the LORD put forth the end of the staff that was in his hand, and touched the flesh and the unleavened cakes; and there rose fire out of the rock, and consumed the flesh and the unleavened cakes. Then the angel of the LORD departed from his sight.
Y extendiendo el ángel de Jehová el canto del bordón que tenía en su mano, tocó en la carne y en los panes sin levadura: y subió fuego de la peña, el cual consumió la carne y los panes sin levadura, y el ángel de Jehová desapareció de delante de él.
22 And when Gideon perceived that he was an angel of the LORD, Gideon said, Alas, O Lord GOD! for because I have seen an angel of the LORD face to face.
Y viendo Gedeón que era el ángel de Jehová, dijo: Ay, Señor Jehová, que he visto al ángel de Jehová cara a cara.
23 And the LORD said to him, Peace be to thee; fear not: thou shalt not die.
Y Jehová le dijo: Paz a ti, no hayas temor; no morirás.
24 Then Gideon built an altar there to the LORD, and called it Jehovahshalom: to this day it is yet in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.
Y edificó allí Gedeón altar a Jehová, al cual llamó Jehová-salom, el cual dura hasta hoy en Efra de los Abiezeritas.
25 And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said to him, Take thy father’s young bull, even the second bull of seven years old, and throw down the altar of Baal that thy father hath, and cut down the grove that is by it:
Y aconteció que la misma noche le dijo Jehová: Toma un toro del hato de tu padre, y otro toro de siete años, y derriba el altar de Baal que tu padre tiene, y corta también el bosque que está junto a él:
26 And build an altar to the LORD thy God upon the top of this rock, in the ordered place, and take the second bull, and offer a burnt sacrifice with the wood of the grove which thou shalt cut down.
Y edifica altar a Jehová tu Dios en la cumbre de este peñasco en lugar conveniente; y tomando el segundo toro sacrifícalo en holocausto sobre la leña del bosque, que habrás cortado.
27 Then Gideon took ten men of his servants, and did as the LORD had said to him: and so it was, because he feared his father’s household, and the men of the city, that he could not do it by day, that he did it by night.
Entonces Gedeón tomó diez varones de sus siervos, e hizo como Jehová le dijo. Mas temiendo de hacerlo de día, por la familia de su padre, y por los hombres de la ciudad, hízolo de noche.
28 And when the men of the city arose early in the morning, behold, the altar of Baal was cast down, and the grove was cut down that was by it, and the second bull was offered upon the altar that was built.
Y a la mañana cuando los de la ciudad se levantaron, he aquí que el altar de Baal estaba derribado; y el bosque, que estaba junto a él, cortado; y el segundo becerro sacrificado en holocausto sobre el altar de nuevo edificado.
29 And they said one to another, Who hath done this thing? And when they enquired and asked, they said, Gideon the son of Joash hath done this thing.
Y dijeron el uno al otro: ¿Quién ha hecho esto? Y buscando e inquiriendo, dijéronles: Gedeón hijo de Joas lo ha hecho. Entonces los varones de la ciudad dijeron a Joas:
30 Then the men of the city said to Joash, Bring out thy son, that he may die: because he hath cast down the altar of Baal, and because he hath cut down the grove that was by it.
Saca fuera tu hijo para que muera, por cuanto ha derribado el altar de Baal; y ha cortado el bosque, que estaba junto a él.
31 And Joash said to all that stood against him, Will ye plead for Baal? will ye save him? he that will plead for him, let him be put to death by morning: if he is a god, let him plead for himself, because one hath cast down his altar.
Y Joas respondió a todos los que estaban cerca de él: ¿Tomaréis vosotros el pleito por Baal? ¿o salvarle heis vosotros? Cualquiera que tomare el pleito por él, que muera mañana. Si es dios, pleitee por sí con el que derribó su altar.
32 Therefore on that day he called him Jerubbaal, saying, Let Baal plead against him, because he hath thrown down his altar.
Y aquel día le llamó Jerubaal, porque dijo: Pleitée Baal contra el que derribó su altar.
33 Then all the Midianites and the Amalekites and the children of the east were gathered together, and went over, and encamped in the valley of Jezreel.
Y todos los Madianitas, y Amalecitas, y Orientales se juntaron a una, y pasando asentaron campo en el valle de Jezrael.
34 But the Spirit of the LORD came upon Gideon, and he blew a trumpet; and Abiezer was called after him.
Y el Espíritu de Jehová se envistió en Gedeón, el cual como hubo tocado el cuerno, Abiezer se juntó con él.
35 And he sent messengers throughout all Manasseh; who also was called after him: and he sent messengers to Asher, and to Zebulun, and to Naphtali; and they came up to meet them.
Y envió mensajeros por todo Manasés; el cual también se juntó con él. Y envió mensajeros a Aser, y a Zabulón, y a Neftalí, los cuales los salieron a recibir.
36 And Gideon said to God, If thou wilt save Israel by my hand, as thou hast said,
Y Gedeón dijo a Dios: Si has de salvar a Israel por mi mano, como has dicho,
37 Behold, I will put a fleece of wool on the floor; and if the dew shall be on the fleece only, and it shall be dry upon all the earth besides, then shall I know that thou wilt save Israel by my hand, as thou hast said.
He aquí que yo pondré un vellocino de lana en la era; y si el rocío estuviere en el vellocino solamente, quedando seca toda la otra tierra, entonces entenderé que has de salvar a Israel por mi mano, como lo has dicho.
38 And it was so: for he rose early on the next morning, and pressed the fleece, and wrung the dew out of the fleece, a bowl full of water.
Y aconteció así porque como se levantó de mañana exprimiendo el vellocino sacó de él el rocío, un vaso lleno de agua.
39 And Gideon said to God, Let not thy anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once: let me make a test, I pray thee, but this once with the fleece; let it now be dry only upon the fleece, and upon all the ground let there be dew.
Mas Gedeón dijo a Dios: No se encienda tu ira contra mí, si aun hablare esta vez: Solamente probaré ahora otra vez con el vellocino. Ruégote que la sequedad sea en solo el vellocino: y el rocío sobre la tierra.
40 And God did so that night: for it was dry upon the fleece only, and there was dew on all the ground.
Y aquella noche lo hizo Dios así: porque la sequedad fue en solo el vellocino, y en toda la tierra estuvo el rocío.
