< Judges 14 >

1 And Samson went down to Timnath, and saw a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines.
Samson loe Timnath ah caeh tathuk moe, to ah Philistin nongpata maeto a hnuk.
2 And he came up, and told his father and his mother, and said, I have seen a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines: now therefore get her for me for a wife.
Anih amlaem let naah loe, ampa hoi amno khaeah, Timnah vangpui ah nongpata maeto ka hnuk, anih to ka zu ah na la paeh, tiah a naa.
3 Then his father and his mother said to him, Is there not a woman among the daughters of thy brethren, or among all my people, that thou goest to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? And Samson said to his father, Get her for me; for she pleaseth me well.
Amno hoi ampa mah, Nangmah ih nawkamyanawk ih canu, aimah acaeng thungah nongpata om ai pongah maw tangyat hin aat ai Philistin tanuh zu ah lak han na thuih? tiah a naa hoi. Toe Samson mah ampa khaeah, Anih to ka koeh khruek boeh pongah, ka zu ah na la paeh, tiah a naa.
4 But his father and his mother knew not that it was of the LORD, that he sought an occasion against the Philistines: for at that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel.
Philistin kaminawk tukhaih loklam hnuk thai hanah Angraeng mah hae tiah hmuen to sak, tiah ampa hoi amno mah panoek hoi ai; to nathuem ah Israel kaminawk loe Philistinnawk mah uk o.
5 Then went Samson down, and his father and his mother, to Timnath, and came to the vineyards of Timnath: and, behold, a young lion roared against him.
Samson loe amno ampa hoi nawnto Timnath vangpui ah caeh tathuk, Timnath vangpui taeng ih misur takha phak o naah, khenah, kaipui loe hangh moe, anih to hmang.
6 And the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and he tore him as he would have torn a kid, and he had nothing in his hand: but he told not his father or his mother what he had done.
Samson loe ban ah tidoeh sin ai; toe Angraeng thacakhaih a nuiah oh pongah, Maeh ca taprawt pet baktiah to kaipui to anih mah taprawt pat; a sak ih hmuen to amno hoi ampa khaeah thui pae ai.
7 And he went down, and talked with the woman; and she pleased Samson well.

8 And after a time he returned to take her, and he turned aside to see the carcase of the lion: and, behold, there was a swarm of bees and honey in the carcase of the lion.
Atue nasetto maw oh pacoengah, to nongpata to lak hanah a caeh let; kaipui qok to khet hanah lam taeng bangah a caeh; a khet naah, to kaipui qok thungah kaom khoiphae hoi khoitui to a hnuk.
9 And he took of it in his hands, and went on eating, and came to his father and mother, and he gave them, and they ate: but he told them not that he had taken the honey out of the carcase of the lion.

10 So his father went down to the woman: and Samson made there a feast; for so used the young men to do.
Ampa loe nongpata khet hanah caeh tathuk; Samson loe thendoeng mah sak koi atawk baktih toengah to ah buhcaakhaih poih to a sak.
11 And it came to pass, when they saw him, that they brought thirty companions to be with him.

12 And Samson said to them, I will now tell a riddle to you: if ye can certainly declare it me within the seven days of the feast, and find it out, then I will give you thirty sheets and thirty change of garments:
Samson mah nihcae khaeah, Lok karai kang thuih o han, hae ih poih ni sarihto thungah nang thuih o thaih nahaeloe, puu kahni zung quithumto hoi khukbuennawk kang paek o han;
13 But if ye cannot declare it to me, then shall ye give me thirty sheets and thirty change of garments. And they said to him, Tell thy riddle, that we may hear it.
toe nang thui o thai ai nahaeloe, puu kahni zung quithumto hoi khukbuennawk to na paek o toeng ah, tiah a naa. Nihcae mah anih khaeah, Nang thuih han koi karai lok to na thui lai ah, thaih ka koeh o boeh, tiah a naa o.
14 And he said to them, Out of the eater came forth food, and out of the strong came forth sweetness. And they could not in three days expound the riddle.
To naah Samson mah nihcae khaeah, Kacaa thaih kami thung hoiah buh to tacawt moe, thacak kami thung hoiah kaluep to tacawt, tiah a naa. Ni thumto thung nihcae mah thui pae o thai ai.
15 And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they said to Samson’s wife, Entice thy husband, that he may declare to us the riddle, lest we burn thee and thy father’s house with fire: have ye called us to take what we possess? is it not so?
Ni sarihto naah loe nihcae mah, Samson zu khaeah, Lok karai duenghaih to kaicae khaeah ang thuih thai hanah, na sava to zoek ah, to tih ai nahaeloe nangmah hoi nam pa imthung takoh boih hmai hoiah kang thlaek o han; kaicae ih hmuenmae lak han ih maw kaicae hae nang kawk? tiah a naa o.
16 And Samson’s wife wept before him, and said, Thou dost but hate me, and lovest me not: thou hast told a riddle to the children of my people, and hast not told it to me. And he said to her, Behold, I have not told it to my father nor to my mother, and shall I tell it to thee?
To pacoengah Samson ih zu loe a hmaa ah qah pae moe, Kai hae nang palung tangtang ai, nang hnukma; kai ih kaminawk khaeah karai lokduenghaih to na thuih pae, toe kai nang panoeksak ai, tiah a naa. Anih mah, Khenah, kam pa hoi kam no khaeah mataeng doeh ka thui ai vop; tipongah nang khaeah kang thuih han loe? tiah a naa.
17 And she wept before him the seven days, while their feast lasted: and it came to pass on the seventh day, that he told her, because she pressed him so hard: and she told the riddle to the children of her people.
Nongpata loe anih hmaa ah buhraenghaih ni sarihto thung qah pae; toe a hnik pae khruek pongah, ni sarihto naah loe a thuih pae; to karai lokduenghaih to a zu mah angmah ih kaminawk khaeah thuih pae patoeng.
18 And the men of the city said to him on the seventh day before the sun went down, What is sweeter than honey? and what is stronger than a lion? And he said to them, If ye had not plowed with my heifer, ye had not found out my riddle.
Ni sarihto ni akun ai naah, vangpui thung ih kaminawk mah Samson khaeah, Khoi pongah kaluep kue timaw oh? Kaipui pongah thacak kue timaw oh vop? tiah a naa. Samson mah nihcae khaeah, Kai ih maitaw tala hoiah laikok na tok o ai nahaeloe, kang dueng o ih karai lok to nang pathim o thai mak ai, tiah a naa.
19 And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he went down to Ashkelon, and slew thirty men of them, and took their spoil, and gave change of garments to them who expounded the riddle. And his anger was kindled, and he went up to his father’s house.
To naah anih nuiah Angraeng ih Muithla to oh; anih loe Ashkelon vangpui ah caeh tathuk moe, kami quithumto hum; a khukbuennawk to a khring pae, a tawnh o ih hmuennawk to a lak pae pacoengah, karai lokduenghaih pathim thaih kaminawk hanah a paek. Anih loe paroeai plungphui hoiah ampa im ah caeh.
20 But Samson’s wife was given to his companion, whom he had used as his friend.
