Judges 12
1 And the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and went northward, and said to Jephthah, Why didst thou pass over to fight against the children of Ammon, and didst not call us to go with thee? we will burn thy house upon thee with fire.
तब एफ्राईमवासियों ने सेना इकट्ठा किया. उन्होंने ज़ेफोन जाकर यिफ्ताह से यह कहके झगड़ा किया, “क्या मतलब था आपका हमें अपने साथ लिए बिना अम्मोन वंशजों से युद्ध के लिए जाने का? हम आपके साथ आपके घर में आग लगा देंगे.”
2 And Jephthah said to them, I and my people were at great strife with the children of Ammon; and when I called you, ye delivered me not out of their hands.
यिफ्ताह ने उन्हें उत्तर दिया, “अम्मोन वंशजों के साथ मेरा और मेरे साथियों का बड़ा झगड़ा हो गया था. मैंने आपको बुलाया तो था, किंतु आपने आकर मुझे उनसे नहीं छुड़ाया.
3 And when I saw that ye delivered me not, I put my life in my hands, and passed over against the children of Ammon, and the LORD delivered them into my hand: why then have ye come up to me this day, to fight against me?
जब मैंने देखा कि मुझे छुड़ाने में आपकी रुचि नहीं है, मैंने अपनी जान हथेली में लेकर अम्मोन वंशजों पर हमला किया, और याहवेह ने उन्हें हमारे वश में कर दिया. आप लोग अब मुझसे झगड़ा करने क्यों आए हैं?”
4 Then Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim: and the men of Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Ye Gileadites are fugitives of Ephraim among the Ephraimites, and among the Manassites.
इस कारण यिफ्ताह ने गिलआद के सारे सैनिकों को इकट्ठा किया और एफ्राईम से युद्ध करके गिलआद के सैनिकों ने उन्हें हरा दिया, क्योंकि एफ्राईमवासियों ने गिलआद वासियों पर आरोप लगाया था, “तुम गिलआदवासी तो एफ्राईम के भगोड़े हो. तुम तो एफ्राईम तथा मनश्शेह के ही वासी हो.”
5 And the Gileadites took the fords of Jordan before the Ephraimites: and it was so, that when those Ephraimites who had escaped said, Let me go over; that the men of Gilead said to him, Art thou an Ephraimite? If he said, Nay;
गिलआद वासियों ने एफ्राईम के पास वाले यरदन के घाट अपने वश में कर लिए. जब कभी कोई व्यक्ति एफ्राईम से भागने की कोशिश में कहता था, “मुझे पार जाने दो,” गिलआदवासी उससे प्रश्न करते थे, “क्या तुम एफ्राईमवासी हो?” यदि वह उत्तर देता था, “नहीं,”
6 Then said they to him, Say now Shibboleth: and he said Sibboleth: for he could not frame to pronounce it right. Then they took him, and slew him at the fords of Jordan: and there fell at that time of the Ephraimites forty and two thousand.
तब गिलआदवासी उसे आदेश देते थे; कहो, “शिब्बोलेथ.” किंतु वह उच्चारण करता था, “सिब्बोलेथ,” क्योंकि उसके लिए इस शब्द का शुद्ध उच्चारण संभव नहीं होता था. यह होने पर गिलआदवासी उसे वहीं पकड़कर यरदन के घाटों में मार दिया करते थे. उस समय इस प्रक्रिया में एफ्राईम के बयालीस हज़ार व्यक्तियों को मार दिया गया.
7 And Jephthah judged Israel six years. Then died Jephthah the Gileadite, and was buried in one of the cities of Gilead.
यिफ्ताह छः साल तक इस्राएल का शासन करता रहा. इसके बाद गिलआदवासी यिफ्ताह की मृत्यु हो गई. उसे गिलआद के ही एक नगर में गाड़ दिया गया.
8 And after him Ibzan of Bethlehem judged Israel.
यिफ्ताह के बाद बेथलेहेम के इबज़न ने इस्राएल के शासन की जवाबदारी संभाली.
9 And he had thirty sons, and thirty daughters, whom he sent abroad, and took in thirty daughters from abroad for his sons. And he judged Israel seven years.
उसके तीस पुत्र और तीस ही पुत्रियां थी, जिनका विवाह उसने बाहर के गोत्र में किया था. इसी प्रकार उसने अपने पुत्रों का विवाह बाहरी गोत्रों में कर दिया था. उसने इस्राएल का शासन सात सालों तक किया.
10 Then died Ibzan, and was buried at Bethlehem.
इसके बाद इबज़न की मृत्यु हो गई, और उसे बेथलेहेम में गाड़ दिया गया.
11 And after him Elon, a Zebulonite, judged Israel; and he judged Israel ten years.
उसके बाद ज़ेबुलूनवासी एलोन इस्राएल का शासक हुआ. उसने दस साल तक इस्राएल पर शासन किया.
12 And Elon the Zebulonite died, and was buried in Aijalon in the country of Zebulun.
ज़ेबुलूनवासी एलोन की मृत्यु हुई और उसे ज़ेबुलून देश में अय्जालोन में गाड़ दिया गया.
13 And after him Abdon the son of Hillel, a Pirathonite, judged Israel.
उसके बाद पीराथोनवासी हिल्लेल का पुत्र अबदोन इस्राएल का शासक हुआ.
14 And he had forty sons and thirty grandsons, that rode on seventy young donkeys: and he judged Israel eight years.
उसके चालीस पुत्र और तीस पोते थे, जो सत्तर गधों पर आना-जाना करते थे. उसने आठ साल इस्राएल का शासन किया.
15 And Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite died, and was buried in Pirathon in the land of Ephraim, in the mount of the Amalekites.
पीराथोनवासी हिल्लेल के पुत्र अबदोन की मृत्यु हो गई. उसे एफ्राईम देश के पिराथोन में अमालेकियों के पहाड़ी इलाके में गाड़ दिया गया.
