Judges 11
1 Now Jephthah the Gileadite was a mighty man of valour, and he was the son of an harlot: and Gilead begat Jephthah.
१गिलादी इफ्ताह पराक्रमी वीर होता, परंतु तो वेश्येचा पुत्र होता, आणि गिलाद त्याचा पिता होता.
2 And Gilead’s wife bore him sons; and his wife’s sons grew up, and they thrust out Jephthah, and said to him, Thou shalt not inherit in our father’s house; for thou art the son of a another woman.
२गिलादाच्या पत्नीने त्यापासून दुसऱ्या पुत्रांना जन्म दिला, आणि जेव्हा त्या स्त्रीचे पुत्र मोठे झाले, तेव्हा त्यांनी इफ्ताहाला घालवून दिले आणि म्हटले, “आमच्या वडिलाच्या घरी तुला वतन प्राप्त होणार नाही; कारण तू दुसऱ्या स्त्रीचा पुत्र आहेस.”
3 Then Jephthah fled from his brethren, and dwelt in the land of Tob: and there were gathered worthless men to Jephthah, and they went out with him.
३यास्तव इफ्ताह आपल्या भावांपुढून पळाला, आणि टोब देशात जाऊन राहिला; तेव्हा रिकामटेकडी माणसे इफ्ताहाजवळ मिळून त्याच्याबरोबर चालली.
4 And it came to pass in process of time, that the children of Ammon made war against Israel.
४मग काही वेळानंतर असे झाले की अम्मोनी लोकांनी इस्राएलाशी लढाई केली.
5 And it was so, that when the children of Ammon made war against Israel, the elders of Gilead went to bring Jephthah out of the land of Tob:
५जेव्हा अम्मोनी लोक इस्राएलाशी लढत असताना असे झाले की गिलादाचे वडील मंडळ इफ्ताहाला टोब देशातून परत आणायला गेले.
6 And they said to Jephthah, Come, and be our captain, that we may fight with the children of Ammon.
६तेव्हा ते इफ्ताहाला म्हणाले, “तू येऊन आमचा सेनापती हो, कारण आम्ही अम्मोनी लोकांशी लढत आहो.”
7 And Jephthah said to the elders of Gilead, Did ye not hate me, and drive me out of my father’s house? and why have ye come to me now when ye are in distress?
७इफ्ताह गिलादाच्या वडीलजनांना बोलला, “तुम्ही माझा द्वेष करून माझ्या पित्याच्या घरातून मला घालवले की नाही? तर आता तुम्ही संकटात असता, माझ्याजवळ कशाला आला?”
8 And the elders of Gilead said to Jephthah, Therefore we turn again to thee now, that thou mayest go with us, and fight against the children of Ammon, and be our head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.
८तेव्हा गिलादाच्या वडीलांनी इफ्ताहाला म्हटले, “आम्ही आता तुझ्याकडे यासाठी आलो आहो की, तू आमच्याबरोबर येऊन अम्मोनी लोकांशी लढाई करावी, मग तू गिलादातल्या सर्व राहणाऱ्यांवर आमचा अधिकारी असा होशील.”
9 And Jephthah said to the elders of Gilead, If ye bring me home again to fight against the children of Ammon, and the LORD deliver them before me, shall I be your head?
९तेव्हा इफ्ताह गिलादाच्या वडीलास म्हणाला, “जर तुम्ही मला अम्मोनी लोकांशी लढायास माघारी नेले, आणि परमेश्वराने त्यांना माझ्या स्वाधीन केले, तर मी तुमचा अधिकारी असा होईन काय?”
10 And the elders of Gilead said to Jephthah, The LORD be a witness between us, if we do not so according to thy words.
१०तेव्हा गिलादातील वडीलजन इफ्ताहाला बोलले, “जर तुझ्या सांगण्याप्रमाणे आम्ही करीत नाही, तर आपल्यामध्ये परमेश्वर साक्षी होवो.”
11 Then Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead, and the people made him head and captain over them: and Jephthah uttered all his words before the LORD in Mizpeh.
११मग इफ्ताह गिलादाच्या वडीलांबरोबर गेला, आणि त्या लोकांनी त्यास आपल्यावर अधिकारी व सेनापती असे करून ठेवले; तेव्हा इफ्ताह आपली सर्व वचने मिस्पात परमेश्वरासमोर बोलला.
12 And Jephthah sent messengers to the king of the children of Ammon, saying, What hast thou to do with me, that thou hast come against me to fight in my land?
१२मग इफ्ताहाने अम्मोनी लोकांच्या राजाजवळ वकील पाठवून म्हटले, “माझ्यात आणि तुझ्यात काय भांडण आहे? तू माझ्याशी लढावयास सैन्य घेऊन माझ्या देशात आमचा देश घेण्यास येत आहेस?”
13 And the king of the children of Ammon answered to the messengers of Jephthah, Because Israel took away my land, when they came out of Egypt, from Arnon even to Jabbok, and to Jordan: now therefore restore those lands again peaceably.
१३तेव्हा अम्मोनी लोकांचा राजा इफ्ताहाच्या वकिलांना बोलला, “कारण की जेव्हा इस्राएल मिसरातून आले, तेव्हा त्यांनी आर्णोन नदीपासून याब्बोक व यार्देन या नद्यापर्यंत माझा देश होता तो त्यांनी हिरावून घेतला; तर आता तो देश शांतीने परत दे.”
14 And Jephthah sent messengers again to the king of the children of Ammon:
१४तेव्हा इफ्ताहाने पुन्हा दुसरे वकील अम्मोनी लोकांच्या राजाजवळ पाठवले.
15 And said to him, Thus saith Jephthah, Israel took not away the land of Moab, nor the land of the children of Ammon:
१५आणि त्यास म्हटले, इफ्ताह असे सांगतो की इस्राएलाने मवाबाचा देश व अम्मोनी लोकांचा देश घेतला नाही.
16 But when Israel came up from Egypt, and walked through the wilderness to the Red sea, and came to Kadesh;
१६परंतु जेव्हा इस्राएल मिसरातून निघाले, तेव्हा ते सूफ समुद्राजवळच्या रानांतून तांबड्या समुद्रावरून कादेश येथे आले.
17 Then Israel sent messengers to the king of Edom, saying, Let me, I pray thee, pass through thy land: but the king of Edom would not hearken to it. And in like manner they sent to the king of Moab: but he would not consent: and Israel abode in Kadesh.
१७मग इस्राएलांनी अदोमी राजाजवळ वकील पाठवून म्हटले, “तू कृपा करून आपल्या देशावरून मला जाऊ दे,” परंतु अदोमी राजाने ऐकले नाही, आणि मवाबी राजाजवळही पाठवले, परंतु तोसुद्धा मान्य झाला नाही; यास्तव इस्राएल कादेशात राहिले.
18 Then they went along through the wilderness, and went around the land of Edom, and the land of Moab, and came by the east side of the land of Moab, and encamped on the other side of Arnon, but came not within the border of Moab: for Arnon was the border of Moab.
१८आणि त्यांनी रानात चालून अदोम देश व मवाब देश यांना फेरी घातली. असे सूर्याच्या उगवतीकडून मवाब देशास येऊन आर्णोनच्या काठी तळ दिला परंतु ते मवाब सीमेत गेले नाहीत; कारण आर्णोन मवाबाची सीमा आहे.
19 And Israel sent messengers to Sihon king of the Amorites, the king of Heshbon; and Israel said to him, Let us pass, we pray thee, through thy land to my place.
१९तेव्हा इस्राएलानी अमोऱ्यांचा राजा सीहोन याजवळ, म्हणजे हेशबोनातल्या राजाजवळ वकील पाठवले, “आणि इस्राएलांनी त्यास म्हटले, तू कृपेने आपल्या देशावरून आम्हांला आमच्या ठिकाणापर्यंत जाऊ दे.”
20 But Sihon trusted not Israel to pass through his land: but Sihon gathered all his people together, and encamped in Jahaz, and fought against Israel.
२०पण सीहोनाला इस्राएलावर विश्वास नव्हता म्हणून आपल्या सीमेवरून जाऊ देण्याविषयी तयार झाला नाही, परंतु सीहोनाने आपले सर्व लोक मिळवून आणि याहाज गावात तळ देऊन इस्राएलाशी लढाई केली.
21 And the LORD God of Israel delivered Sihon and all his people into the hand of Israel, and they smote them: so Israel possessed all the land of the Amorites, the inhabitants of that country.
२१तेव्हा इस्राएलाचा देव परमेश्वर याने सीहोन व त्याचे सर्व लोक इस्राएलाच्या हाती दिले; यास्तव इस्राएलानी त्यांचा नाश केला, आणि त्या देशात राहिलेले जे अमोरी त्यांचा सर्व देश वतन करून घेतला.
22 And they possessed all the land of the Amorites, from Arnon even to Jabbok, and from the wilderness even to Jordan.
२२असे त्यांनी आर्णोनपासून याब्बोकपर्यंत आणि रानापासून यार्देनेपर्यंत अमोऱ्यांचे सर्व प्रांत वतन करून घेतले.
23 So now the LORD God of Israel hath dispossessed the Amorites from before his people Israel, and shouldest thou possess it?
२३तर आता इस्राएलाचा देव परमेश्वर याने आपले लोक इस्राएल याच्यापुढून अमोऱ्यांना घालवले; आणि आता तू त्यांच्या देशाच्या मालमत्तेचा ताबा घेतोस काय?
24 Wilt not thou possess that which Chemosh thy god giveth thee to possess? So whomever the LORD our God shall drive out from before us, them will we possess.
२४तुझा देव कमोश तुला जे वतन देतो, ते तू ठेवशील की नाही? तसे आमचा देव परमेश्वर याने ज्या लोकांस घालवून दिले त्यांच्या सर्व वतनावर आमचा ताबा असावा.
25 And now art thou any thing better than Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab? did he ever strive against Israel, or did he ever fight against them,
२५तर आता सिप्पोरपुत्र बालाक मवाब राजा यापेक्षा तू चांगला आहेस की काय? इस्राएलाशी वाद करण्यास त्याने आव्हान दिले काय? त्याने त्याच्याशी कधी लढाई पुकारली काय?
26 While Israel dwelt in Heshbon and her towns, and in Aroer and her towns, and in all the cities that are along by the banks of Arnon, three hundred years? why therefore did ye not recover them within that time?
२६जेव्हा इस्राएल हेशबोनात व त्याच्या गावात, आणि अरोएर व त्याच्या गावांत, आणि आर्णोनच्या तीरावरल्या सर्व नगरांत तीनशे वर्षे राहिले, त्या वेळेमध्ये तुम्ही ती का काढून घेतली नाहीत.
27 Therefore I have not sinned against thee, but thou doest me wrong to war against me: the LORD the Judge be judge this day between the children of Israel and the children of Ammon.
२७मी तर तुझा काही अपराध केला नाही, परंतु तू माझ्याशी लढण्याने माझे वाईट करतोस; परमेश्वर जो न्यायाधीश तो आज इस्राएली लोक व अम्मोनी लोक यांमध्ये न्याय करो.
28 But the king of the children of Ammon hearkened not to the words of Jephthah which he sent him.
२८तथापि अम्मोनी लोकांच्या राजाने आपल्याजवळ इफ्ताहाने जी चेतावणी पाठवली ती नाकारली.
29 Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jephthah, and he passed over Gilead, and Manasseh, and passed over Mizpeh of Gilead, and from Mizpeh of Gilead he passed over to the children of Ammon.
२९आणि परमेश्वराचा आत्मा इफ्ताहाला प्राप्त झाला, नंतर गिलाद व मनश्शे यामध्ये तो चहूकडे गेला, आणि गिलादी मिस्पा त्यामध्ये चहूकडे गेला, मग तेथून अम्मोनी लोकांकडे गेला.
30 And Jephthah vowed a vow to the LORD, and said, If thou shalt without fail deliver the children of Ammon into my hands,
३०इफ्ताहाने परमेश्वराजवळ नवस करून म्हटले “जर तू माझ्या हाती अम्मोनी लोक देशील तर,
31 Then it shall be, that whatever cometh out of the doors of my house to meet me, when I return in peace from the children of Ammon, shall surely be the LORD’S, and I will offer it for a burnt offering.
३१असे होईल की मी अम्मोनी लोकांपासून शांतीने माघारी आलो तेव्हा मला भेटावयाला जे काही माझ्या घराच्या दाराबाहेर येईल, ते परमेश्वराचे होईल, आणि मी त्याचे होमार्पण यज्ञ करीन.”
32 So Jephthah passed over to the children of Ammon to fight against them; and the LORD delivered them into his hands.
३२तर इफ्ताह अम्मोनी लोकांविरुद्ध लढावयाला त्याकडे गेला, या प्रकारे परमेश्वराने त्यास विजय दिला.
33 And he smote them from Aroer, even till thou comest to Minnith, even twenty cities, and to the plain of the vineyards, with a very great slaughter. Thus the children of Ammon were subdued before the children of Israel.
३३आणि अरोएरापासून मिन्नीथाजवळ येईपर्यंत त्यास मारून वीस नगरे घेतली, आणि द्राक्षमळ्यांच्या आबेल-करामीमपर्यंत त्यांची फार मोठी कत्तल केली; असे अम्मोनी लोक इस्राएल लोकांच्या स्वाधीन झाले.
34 And Jephthah came to Mizpeh to his house, and, behold, his daughter came out to meet him with timbrels and with dances: and she was his only child; beside her he had neither son nor daughter.
३४मग इफ्ताह मिस्पात आपल्या घरी आला; तेव्हा पाहा, त्याची कन्या त्यास भेटायला डफ व नाचणारे यांच्यासह बाहेर आली; ती तर त्याचे एकुलते एक मूल होती; तिच्याशिवाय त्यास पुत्र किंवा कन्या नव्हती.
35 And it came to pass, when he saw her, that he tore his clothes, and said, Alas, my daughter! thou hast brought me very low, and thou art one of them that trouble me: for I have opened my mouth to the LORD, and I cannot go back.
३५तेव्हा असे झाले की त्याने तिला पाहताच आपली वस्त्रे फाडून म्हटले, “हाय! माझ्या मुली! तू मला दु: खाने पिळून टाकले आहे, आणि मला दुःख देणारी यामध्ये तूही आहेस! मी परमेश्वराकडे शपथ वाहिली आहे; यास्तव मला वचनाविरूद्ध वळता येत नाही.”
36 And she said to him, My father, if thou hast opened thy mouth to the LORD, do to me according to that which hath proceeded out of thy mouth; forasmuch as the LORD hath taken vengeance for thee of thy enemies, even of the children of Ammon.
३६तेव्हा ती त्यास बोलली, “हे माझ्या बापा, तू परमेश्वराकडे नवस केला आहे, तर तू जे वचन दिले त्याप्रमाणे तू माझ्याशी सर्वकाही कर; कारण परमेश्वराने तुझे शत्रू अम्मोनी लोक यांचा तुझ्यासाठी सूड घेतला आहे.”
37 And she said to her father, Let this thing be done for me: let me alone two months, that I may go up and down upon the mountains, and bewail my virginity, I and my companions.
३७आणखी तिने आपल्या बापाला म्हटले, “माझ्यासाठी ही एक गोष्ट करा की मला दोन महिन्यांची रजा द्या, म्हणजे मी आपल्या मैत्रीणीबरोबर डोंगरावर जाऊन आपल्या कुमारीपणाबद्दल शोक करेल.”
38 And he said, Go. And he sent her away for two months: and she went with her companions, and bewailed her virginity upon the mountains.
३८तेव्हा त्याने म्हटले, “जा.” असे त्याने तिला दोन महिने सोडले, आणि ती आपल्या मैत्रिणीबरोबर डोंगरांवर जाऊन आपल्या कुमारीपणाबद्दल रडली.
39 And it came to pass at the end of two months, that she returned to her father, who did with her according to his vow which he had vowed: and she knew no man. And it was a custom in Israel,
३९मग दोन महिन्यांच्या शेवटी असे झाले की ती आपल्या बापाजवळ माघारी आली, नंतर त्याने आपण केलेल्या नवसाप्रमाणे तिचे केले. तिचा पुरुषाबरोबर कधीच शारीरीक संबंध आला नव्हता, आणि इस्राएलात अशी रित झाली की,
40 That the daughters of Israel went yearly to lament the daughter of Jephthah the Gileadite four days in a year.
४०प्रत्येक वर्षी इस्राएलातल्या मुलींनी इफ्ताह गिलादी याच्या कन्येचे स्मरण करायाला वर्षातील चार दिवस जात जावे.
