Joshua 21
1 Then came near the heads of the fathers of the Levites to Eleazar the priest, and to Joshua the son of Nun, and to the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel;
| ויגשו ראשי אבות הלוים אל אלעזר הכהן ואל יהושע בן נון ואל ראשי אבות המטות לבני ישראל׃ |
2 And they spoke to them at Shiloh in the land of Canaan, saying, The LORD commanded by the hand of Moses to give us cities to dwell in, with their common lands for our cattle.
| וידברו אליהם בשלה בארץ כנען לאמר יהוה צוה ביד משה לתת לנו ערים לשבת ומגרשיהן לבהמתנו׃ |
3 And the children of Israel gave to the Levites out of their inheritance, at the commandment of the LORD, these cities and their common lands.
| ויתנו בני ישראל ללוים מנחלתם אל פי יהוה את הערים האלה ואת מגרשיהן׃ |
4 And the lot came out for the families of the Kohathites: and the children of Aaron the priest, who were of the Levites, had by lot out of the tribe of Judah, and out of the tribe of Simeon, and out of the tribe of Benjamin, thirteen cities.
| ויצא הגורל למשפחת הקהתי ויהי לבני אהרן הכהן מן הלוים ממטה יהודה וממטה השמעני וממטה בנימן בגורל ערים שלש עשרה׃ |
5 And the rest of the children of Kohath had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Ephraim, and out of the tribe of Dan, and out of the half tribe of Manasseh, ten cities.
| ולבני קהת הנותרים ממשפחת מטה אפרים וממטה דן ומחצי מטה מנשה בגורל ערים עשר׃ |
6 And the children of Gershon had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Issachar, and out of the tribe of Asher, and out of the tribe of Naphtali, and out of the half tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteen cities.
| ולבני גרשון ממשפחות מטה יששכר וממטה אשר וממטה נפתלי ומחצי מטה מנשה בבשן בגורל ערים שלש עשרה׃ |
7 The children of Merari by their families had out of the tribe of Reuben, and out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities.
| לבני מררי למשפחתם ממטה ראובן וממטה גד וממטה זבולן ערים שתים עשרה׃ |
8 And the children of Israel gave by lot to the Levites these cities with their common lands, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses.
| ויתנו בני ישראל ללוים את הערים האלה ואת מגרשיהן כאשר צוה יהוה ביד משה בגורל׃ |
9 And they gave out of the tribe of the children of Judah, and out of the tribe of the children of Simeon, these cities which are here mentioned by name,
| ויתנו ממטה בני יהודה וממטה בני שמעון את הערים האלה אשר יקרא אתהן בשם׃ |
10 Which the children of Aaron, being of the families of the Kohathites, who were of the children of Levi, had: for theirs was the first lot.
| ויהי לבני אהרן ממשפחות הקהתי מבני לוי כי להם היה הגורל ראישנה׃ |
11 And they gave them the city of Arba the father of Anak, which city is Hebron, in the hill country of Judah, with its common lands around it.
| ויתנו להם את קרית ארבע אבי הענוק היא חברון בהר יהודה ואת מגרשה סביבתיה׃ |
12 But the fields of the city, and its villages, they gave to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for his possession.
| ואת שדה העיר ואת חצריה נתנו לכלב בן יפנה באחזתו׃ |
13 Thus they gave to the children of Aaron the priest Hebron with its common lands, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Libnah with its common lands,
| ולבני אהרן הכהן נתנו את עיר מקלט הרצח את חברון ואת מגרשה ואת לבנה ואת מגרשה׃ |
14 And Jattir with its common lands, and Eshtemoa with its common lands,
| ואת יתר ואת מגרשה ואת אשתמע ואת מגרשה׃ |
15 And Holon with its common lands, and Debir with its common lands,
| ואת חלן ואת מגרשה ואת דבר ואת מגרשה׃ |
16 And Ain with its common lands, and Juttah with its common lands, and Bethshemesh with its common lands; nine cities out of those two tribes.
| ואת עין ואת מגרשה ואת יטה ואת מגרשה את בית שמש ואת מגרשה ערים תשע מאת שני השבטים האלה׃ |
17 And out of the tribe of Benjamin, Gibeon with its common lands, Geba with its common lands,
| וממטה בנימן את גבעון ואת מגרשה את גבע ואת מגרשה׃ |
18 Anathoth with its common lands, and Almon with its common lands; four cities.
| את ענתות ואת מגרשה ואת עלמון ואת מגרשה ערים ארבע׃ |
19 All the cities of the children of Aaron, the priests, were thirteen cities with their common lands.
| כל ערי בני אהרן הכהנים שלש עשרה ערים ומגרשיהן׃ |
20 And the families of the children of Kohath, the Levites who remained of the children of Kohath, even they had the cities of their lot out of the tribe of Ephraim.
| ולמשפחות בני קהת הלוים הנותרים מבני קהת ויהי ערי גורלם ממטה אפרים׃ |
21 For they gave them Shechem with its common lands in mount Ephraim, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Gezer with its common lands,
| ויתנו להם את עיר מקלט הרצח את שכם ואת מגרשה בהר אפרים ואת גזר ואת מגרשה׃ |
22 And Kibzaim with its common lands, and Bethhoron with its common lands; four cities.
| ואת קבצים ואת מגרשה ואת בית חורן ואת מגרשה ערים ארבע׃ |
23 And out of the tribe of Dan, Eltekeh with its common lands, Gibbethon with its common lands,
| וממטה דן את אלתקא ואת מגרשה את גבתון ואת מגרשה׃ |
24 Aijalon with its common lands, Gathrimmon with its common lands; four cities.
| את אילון ואת מגרשה את גת רמון ואת מגרשה ערים ארבע׃ |
25 And out of the half tribe of Manasseh, Tanach with its common lands, and Gathrimmon with its common lands; two cities.
| וממחצית מטה מנשה את תענך ואת מגרשה ואת גת רמון ואת מגרשה ערים שתים׃ |
26 All the cities were ten with their common lands for the families of the children of Kohath that remained.
| כל ערים עשר ומגרשיהן למשפחות בני קהת הנותרים׃ |
27 And to the children of Gershon, of the families of the Levites, out of the other half tribe of Manasseh they gave Golan in Bashan with its common lands, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Beeshterah with its common lands; two cities.
| ולבני גרשון ממשפחת הלוים מחצי מטה מנשה את עיר מקלט הרצח את גלון בבשן ואת מגרשה ואת בעשתרה ואת מגרשה ערים שתים׃ |
28 And out of the tribe of Issachar, Kishon with its common lands, Dabareh with its common lands,
| וממטה יששכר את קשיון ואת מגרשה את דברת ואת מגרשה׃ |
29 Jarmuth with its common lands, Engannim with its common lands; four cities.
| את ירמות ואת מגרשה את עין גנים ואת מגרשה ערים ארבע׃ |
30 And out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal with its common lands, Abdon with its common lands,
| וממטה אשר את משאל ואת מגרשה את עבדון ואת מגרשה׃ |
31 Helkath with its common lands, and Rehob with its common lands; four cities.
| את חלקת ואת מגרשה ואת רחב ואת מגרשה ערים ארבע׃ |
32 And out of the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee with its common lands, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Hammothdor with its common lands, and Kartan with its common lands; three cities.
| וממטה נפתלי את עיר מקלט הרצח את קדש בגליל ואת מגרשה ואת חמת דאר ואת מגרשה ואת קרתן ואת מגרשה ערים שלש׃ |
33 All the cities of the Gershonites according to their families were thirteen cities with their common lands.
| כל ערי הגרשני למשפחתם שלש עשרה עיר ומגרשיהן׃ |
34 And to the families of the children of Merari, the rest of the Levites, out of the tribe of Zebulun, Jokneam with its common lands, and Kartah with its common lands,
| ולמשפחות בני מררי הלוים הנותרים מאת מטה זבולן את יקנעם ואת מגרשה את קרתה ואת מגרשה׃ |
35 Dimnah with its common lands, Nahalal with its common lands; four cities.
| את דמנה ואת מגרשה את נהלל ואת מגרשה ערים ארבע׃ |
36 And out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer with its common lands, and Jahazah with its common lands,
| וממטה ראובן את בצר ואת מגרשה ואת יהצה ואת מגרשה׃ |
37 Kedemoth with its common lands, and Mephaath with its common lands; four cities.
| את קדמות ואת מגרשה ואת מיפעת ואת מגרשה ערים ארבע׃ |
38 And out of the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead with its common lands, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Mahanaim with its common lands,
| וממטה גד את עיר מקלט הרצח את רמת בגלעד ואת מגרשה ואת מחנים ואת מגרשה׃ |
39 Heshbon with its common lands, Jazer with its common lands; four cities in all.
| את חשבון ואת מגרשה את יעזר ואת מגרשה כל ערים ארבע׃ |
40 So all the cities for the children of Merari by their families, which were remaining of the families of the Levites, were by their lot twelve cities.
| כל הערים לבני מררי למשפחתם הנותרים ממשפחות הלוים ויהי גורלם ערים שתים עשרה׃ |
41 All the cities of the Levites within the possession of the children of Israel were forty and eight cities with their common lands.
| כל ערי הלוים בתוך אחזת בני ישראל ערים ארבעים ושמנה ומגרשיהן׃ |
42 These cities were every one with their common lands surrounding them: thus were all these cities.
| תהיינה הערים האלה עיר עיר ומגרשיה סביבתיה כן לכל הערים האלה׃ |
43 And the LORD gave to Israel all the land which he swore to give to their fathers; and they possessed it, and dwelt in it.
| ויתן יהוה לישראל את כל הארץ אשר נשבע לתת לאבותם וירשוה וישבו בה׃ |
44 And the LORD gave them rest on all sides, according to all that he swore to their fathers: and there stood not a man of all their enemies before them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand.
| וינח יהוה להם מסביב ככל אשר נשבע לאבותם ולא עמד איש בפניהם מכל איביהם את כל איביהם נתן יהוה בידם׃ |
45 There failed nothing of any good thing which the LORD had spoken to the house of Israel; all came to pass.
| לא נפל דבר מכל הדבר הטוב אשר דבר יהוה אל בית ישראל הכל בא׃ |
