Joshua 16

1 And the lot of the children of Joseph fell from Jordan by Jericho, to the water of Jericho on the east, to the wilderness that goeth up from Jericho throughout mount Bethel,

És kijött a sors József fiai számára a jerichói Jordántól, keletre Jeríchó vizeitől: A puszta, mely fölmegy Jeríchótól a hegységre Bét-Él felé.

2 And goeth out from Bethel to Luz, and passeth along to the borders of Archi to Ataroth,

Kifut Bét-Éltől Lúzig és átvonul az Arki határa felé Atárótig.

3 And goeth down westward to the border of Japhleti, to the border of Bethhoron the lower, and to Gezer: and the ends of it are at the sea.

Lemegy nyugatnak a Jafléti határa felé, Alsó-Bét-Chórón határáig és Gézerig; és lesznek végezetei a tengernél.

4 So the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance.

Birtokot kaptak József fiai: Menasse és Efraim.

5 And the border of the children of Ephraim according to their families was thus: even the border of their inheritance on the east side was Atarothaddar, to Bethhoron the upper;

És volt Efraim fiainak határa családjaik szerint; volt pedig birtokuk határa keletről Atrót-Addár Felső-Bét-Chórónig.

6 And the border went out toward the sea to Michmethah on the north side; and the border went about eastward to Taanathshiloh, and passed by it on the east to Janohah;

És kifut a határ nyugatnak Mikhmetátig északon, és átkerül a határ keletnek Táanat-Sílóig és átvonul mellette keletre Jánóachtól.

7 And it went down from Janohah to Ataroth, and to Naarath, and came to Jericho, and came out at Jordan.

S lemegy Jánóachtól Atárótig és Náaráig, megérinti Jeríchót és kifut a Jordánig.

8 The border went out from Tappuah westward to the river Kanah; and the ends of it were at the sea. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Ephraim by their families.

Tappúachtól megy a határ nyugatnak Kána patakig és lesznek végezetei a tengernél. Ez Efraim fiai törzsének birtoka családjaik szerint.

9 And the separate cities for the children of Ephraim were among the inheritance of the children of Manasseh, all the cities with their villages.

És a városok, melyek elkülönítvék Efraim fiai számára Menasse fiainak birtoka közepén; mind a városok és tanyáik.

10 And they did not drive out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer: but the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites to this day, and serve at forced labour.

De nem űzték ki a kanaánit, aki Gézerben lakik; így maradt a kanaáni Efraim között mind e mai napig és alattvalóvá lett.
