John 15
1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser.
“Yo soy la verdadera vid, y mi Padre es el viticultor.
2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he trimmeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
Todo sarmiento que en mí no da fruto, lo quita. Todo sarmiento que da fruto, lo poda para que dé más fruto.
3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken to you.
Vosotros ya estáis limpios por la palabra que os he dicho.
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
Permaneced en mí, y yo en vosotros. Como el sarmiento no puede dar fruto por sí mismo si no permanece en la vid, así tampoco vosotros, si no permanecéis en mí.
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
Yo soy la vid. Vosotros sois los sarmientos. El que permanece en mí y yo en él da mucho fruto, porque sin mí no podéis hacer nada.
6 If a man abideth not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
El que no permanece en mí, es arrojado como pámpano y se seca; los recogen, los echan al fuego y se queman.
7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done to you.
Si permanecéis en mí, y mis palabras permanecen en vosotros, pediréis todo lo que queráis, y se os hará.
8 In this is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
“En esto es glorificado mi Padre, en que deis mucho fruto; y así seréis mis discípulos.
9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
Como el Padre me ha amado, yo también os he amado. Permaneced en mi amor.
10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.
Si guardáis mis mandamientos, permaneceréis en mi amor, como yo he guardado los mandamientos de mi Padre y permanezco en su amor.
11 These things have I spoken to you, that my joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.
Os he dicho estas cosas para que mi alegría permanezca en vosotros y vuestra alegría sea cumplida.
12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
“Este es mi mandamiento: que os améis unos a otros, como yo os he amado.
13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Nadie tiene mayor amor que el que da la vida por sus amigos.
14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatever I command you.
Vosotros sois mis amigos si hacéis lo que yo os mando.
15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.
Ya no os llamo siervos, porque el siervo no sabe lo que hace su señor. Pero os he llamado amigos, porque todo lo que he oído a mi Padre os lo he dado a conocer.
16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you.
No me habéis elegido a mí, sino que yo os he elegido a vosotros y os he designado para que vayáis y deis fruto, y vuestro fruto permanezca; para que todo lo que pidáis al Padre en mi nombre os lo dé.
17 These things I command you, that ye love one another.
“Os mando estas cosas, para que os améis unos a otros.
18 If the world hateth you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
Si el mundo os odia, sabed que me ha odiado a mí antes que a vosotros.
19 If ye were of the world, the world would love its own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
Si fuerais del mundo, el mundo amaría a los suyos. Pero como no sois del mundo, puesto que yo os elegí del mundo, por eso el mundo os odia.
20 Remember the word that I said to you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
Recordad la palabra que os dije: ‘Un siervo no es mayor que su señor’. Si me persiguieron a mí, también os perseguirán a vosotros. Si ellos cumplieron mi palabra, también cumplirán la vuestra.
21 But all these things will they do to you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me.
Pero todo esto os lo harán por mi nombre, porque no conocen al que me ha enviado.
22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin.
Si yo no hubiera venido a hablarles, no tendrían pecado; pero ahora no tienen excusa para su pecado.
23 He that hateth me hateth my Father also.
El que me odia, odia también a mi Padre.
24 If I had not done among them the works which no other man hath done, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.
Si yo no hubiera hecho entre ellos las obras que nadie hizo, no tendrían pecado. Pero ahora han visto y también me han odiado a mí y a mi Padre.
25 But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.
Pero esto ha sucedido para que se cumpla la palabra que estaba escrita en su ley: “Me odiaron sin causa”.
26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send to you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, who proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify concerning me:
“Cuando venga el Consejero que os enviaré de parte del Padre, el Espíritu de la verdad, que procede del Padre, él dará testimonio de mí.
27 And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.
También vosotrosdaréis testimonio, porque habéis estado conmigo desde el principio.
