John 15

1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser.

" Je suis la vraie vigne, et mon Père est le vigneron.

2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he trimmeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

Tout sarment qui en moi ne porte pas de fruit, il le retranche; et tout sarment qui porte du fruit, il l'émonde, afin qu'il en porte davantage.

3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken to you.

Déjà vous êtes purs, à cause de la parole que je vous ai annoncée.

4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

Demeurez en moi, et moi en vous. Comme le sarment ne peut de lui-même porter du fruit, s'il ne demeure uni à la vigne, ainsi vous ne le pouvez non plus, si vous ne demeurez en moi.

5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Je suis la vigne, vous êtes les sarments. Celui qui demeure en moi, et en qui je demeure, porte beaucoup de fruits: car, séparés de moi, vous ne pouvez rien faire.

6 If a man abideth not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

Si quelqu'un ne demeure pas en moi, il est jeté dehors, comme le sarment, et il sèche; puis on ramasse ces sarments, on les jette au feu, et ils brûlent.

7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done to you.

Si vous demeurez en moi, et que mes paroles demeurent en vous, vous demanderez ce que vous voudrez, et cela vous sera accordé.

8 In this is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

C'est la gloire de mon Père que vous portiez beaucoup de fruits, et que vous soyez mes disciples.

9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.

Comme mon Père m'a aimé, moi aussi je vous ai aimés: demeurez dans mon amour.

10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.

Si vous gardez mes commandements, vous demeurerez dans mon amour, comme moi-même j'ai gardé les commandements de mon Père, et comme je demeure dans son amour.

11 These things have I spoken to you, that my joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.

Je vous ai dit ces choses, afin que ma joie soit en vous, et que votre joie soit parfaite.

12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

Ceci est mon commandement, que vous vous aimiez les uns les autres, comme je vous ai aimés.

13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Il n'y a pas de plus grand amour que de donner sa vie pour ses amis.

14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatever I command you.

Vous êtes mes amis, si vous faites ce que je vous commande.

15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.

Je ne vous appelle plus serviteurs, parce que le serviteur ne sait pas ce que fait son maître; mais je vous ai appelés amis, parce que tout ce que j'ai entendu de mon Père, je vous l'ai fait connaître.

16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you.

Ce n'est pas vous qui m'avez choisi; mais c'est moi qui vous ai choisis et qui vous ai établis, pour que vous alliez et que vous portiez du fruit, que votre fruit demeure, et que le Père vous accorde ce que vous lui demanderez en mon nom.

17 These things I command you, that ye love one another.

Ce que je vous commande, c'est de vous aimer les uns les autres.

18 If the world hateth you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.

Si le monde vous hait, sachez qu'il m'a haï le premier.

19 If ye were of the world, the world would love its own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

Si vous étiez du monde, le monde aimerait ce qui lui appartiendrait en propre; mais parce que vous n'êtes pas du monde, et que je vous ai choisis du milieu du monde, à cause de cela le monde vous hait.

20 Remember the word that I said to you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

Souvenez-vous de la parole que je vous ai dite: Le serviteur n'est pas plus grand que le maître. S'ils m'ont persécuté, ils vous persécuteront, vous aussi; s'ils ont gardé ma parole, ils garderont aussi la vôtre.

21 But all these things will they do to you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me.

Mais ils vous feront toutes ces choses à cause de mon nom, parce qu'ils ne connaissent pas celui qui m'a envoyé.

22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin.

Si je n'étais pas venu, et que je ne leur eusse point parlé, ils seraient sans péché; mais maintenant leur péché est sans excuse.

23 He that hateth me hateth my Father also.

Celui qui me hait, hait aussi mon Père.

24 If I had not done among them the works which no other man hath done, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.

Si je n'avais pas fait au milieu d'eux des œuvres que nul autre n'a faites, ils seraient sans péché; mais maintenant ils ont vu, et ils me haïssent, moi et mon Père.

25 But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.

Mais cela est arrivé afin que s'accomplît la parole qui est écrite dans leur Loi: ils m'ont haï sans sujet.

26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send to you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, who proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify concerning me:

Lorsque le Consolateur que je vous enverrai d'auprès du Père, l'Esprit de vérité qui procède du Père, sera venu, il rendra témoignage de moi.

27 And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.

Et vous aussi, vous me rendrez témoignage, parce que vous êtes avec moi dès le commencement. "
