Job 9
1 Then Job answered and said,
Entonces Job respondió:
2 I know it to be so of a truth: but how should man be just with God?
Ciertamente yo sé que es así. ¿Pero cómo puede un hombre justificarse ante ʼElohim?
3 If he will contend with him, he cannot answer him one time out of a thousand.
Aunque uno quiera disputar con Él, no le podría responder una vez entre 1.000.
4 He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who hath hardened himself against him, and hath prospered?
Él es sabio de corazón y poderoso en fortaleza. ¿Quién se endureció contra Él y salió ileso?
5 Who removeth the mountains, and they know not: who overturneth them in his anger.
Arranca las montañas con su furor, y no saben quién las trastornó.
6 Who shaketh the earth out of its place, and its pillars tremble.
Sacude la tierra de su lugar y estremece sus columnas.
7 Who commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars.
Él manda al sol, y no brilla. Coloca sello a las estrellas.
8 Who alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea.
Él solo extendió el cielo, y camina sobre las olas del mar.
9 Who maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south.
Él hizo la Osa, el Orión, las Pléyades y las secretas cámaras del sur.
10 Who doeth great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number.
Él hace cosas grandiosas, inescrutables, y maravillas incontables.
11 Lo, he goeth by me, and I see him not: he passeth on also, but I perceive him not.
Ciertamente pasa junto a mí y no lo veo. Si pasa adelante de mí, no lo percibo.
12 Behold, he taketh away, who can hinder him? who will say to him, What doest thou?
Si Él arrebata, ¿quién lo resistirá? ¿Quién le dirá: Qué haces?
13 If God will not withdraw his anger, the proud helpers do stoop under him.
ʼElohim no reprime su ira. Bajo Él se abaten los que ayudan a los soberbios.
14 How much less shall I answer him, and choose out my words to reason with him?
¡Cuánto menos yo puedo replicarle, al rebuscar palabras frente a Él!
15 Whom, though I were righteous, yet would I not answer, but I would make supplication to my judge.
A Él yo, aunque sea recto, no me atrevo a responder. Más bien imploro la clemencia de mi Juez.
16 If I had called, and he had answered me; yet I would not believe that he had hearkened to my voice.
Si lo invoco, y Él me responde, no podría creer que me oye.
17 For he breaketh me with a tempest, and multiplieth my wounds without cause.
Porque me quebranta con una tormenta y multiplica mis heridas sin causa.
18 He will not allow me to take my breath, but filleth me with bitterness.
No me deja recuperar aliento, mas bien me llena de amarguras.
19 If I speak of strength, lo, he is strong: and if of judgment, who shall set me a time to plead?
Si apelo a la fuerza, ¡ciertamente Él es poderoso! Y si acudo al juicio, ¿quién lo convocará?
20 If I justify myself, my own mouth shall condemn me: if I say, I am perfect, that also shall prove me perverse.
Si me declaro justo, mi boca me condenará. Aunque sea intachable, Él me declarará perverso.
21 Though I were perfect, yet would I not know my soul: I would despise my life.
Soy intachable, sin embargo, no me conozco a mí mismo. Desprecio mi vida.
22 This is one thing, therefore I said it, He destroyeth the perfect and the wicked.
Todo es una misma cosa. Por tanto digo: Él destruye al intachable y al perverso.
23 If the scourge shall slay suddenly, he will laugh at the trial of the innocent.
Si el azote mata de repente, Él se burla de la desesperación del inocente.
24 The earth is given into the hand of the wicked: he covereth the faces of its judges; if not, where, and who is he?
La tierra es entregada en manos de los perversos. Él cubre los semblantes de sus jueces. Si no es así, ¿entonces, quién?
25 Now my days are swifter than a post: they flee away, they see no good.
Mis días son más veloces que un corredor. Huyeron. No vieron el bien.
26 They are passed away as the swift ships: as the eagle that hasteth to the prey.
Se deslizaron como botes de junco, como el águila que se lanza sobre su presa.
27 If I say, I will forget my complaint, I will put off my heaviness, and comfort myself:
Si digo: Olvidaré mi queja, mudaré mi semblante y me alegraré,
28 I am afraid of all my sorrows, I know that thou wilt not hold me innocent.
entonces me turban todos mis dolores. Sé que no me tendrás como inocente,
29 If I am wicked, why then do I labour in vain?
y que soy declarado perverso. ¿Para qué entonces me fatigo en vano?
30 If I wash myself with snow water, and make my hands never so clean;
Aunque me lave con agua de nieve, y limpie mis manos con lejía,
31 Yet shalt thou plunge me in the ditch, and my own clothes shall abhor me.
aún me hundirás en el lodo, y mis ropas me repugnarán.
32 For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him, and we should come together in judgment.
Porque Él no es hombre como yo para que le responda, y vayamos juntos a juicio.
33 Neither is there any mediator between us, that might lay his hand upon us both.
No hay un árbitro entre nosotros que coloque su mano entre los dos,
34 Let him take away his rod from me, and let not his fear terrify me:
que quite su vara de sobre mí para que no me espante su terror.
35 Then would I speak, and not fear him; but it is not so with me.
Entonces yo hablaría y no le temería. Pero yo mismo no estoy en esa condición.
