Job 14
1 Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.
El hombre nacido de mujer, corto de días, y harto de desabrimiento.
2 He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.
Que sale como una flor, y luego es cortado; y huye como la sombra, y no permanece.
3 And dost thou open thy eyes upon such one, and bring me into judgment with thee?
¿Y sobre este abres tus ojos, y me traes a juicio contigo?
4 Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.
¿Quién hará limpio de inmundo? Nadie.
5 Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months is with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;
Ciertamente sus días están determinados, y el número de sus meses está cerca de ti: tú le pusiste términos, de los cuales no pasará.
6 Turn from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as an hireling, his day.
Si tú le dejares, él dejará de ser: entre tanto deseará, como el jornalero, su día.
7 For there is hope of a tree, if it is cut down, that it will sprout again, and that its tender branch will not cease.
Porque si el árbol fuere cortado, aun queda de él esperanza: retoñecerá aun, y sus renuevos no faltarán.
8 Though its root shall become old in the earth, and its stock die in the ground;
Si se envejeciere en la tierra su raíz, y su tronco fuere muerto en el polvo:
9 Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.
Al olor del agua reverdecerá, y hará copa, como nueva planta.
10 But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?
Mas cuando el hombre morirá, y será cortado, y perecerá el hombre, ¿dónde estará él?
11 As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up:
Las aguas de la mar se fueron, y el río se secó: secóse.
12 So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens shall be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.
Así el hombre yace, y no se tornará a levantar: hasta que no haya cielo, no despertarán, ni recordarán de su sueño.
13 O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest conceal me, until thy wrath is past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me! (Sheol h7585)
¡Oh quién me diese que me escondieses en la sepultura, y que me encubrieses, hasta que tu ira reposase; que me pusieses plazo, y te acordases de mí! (Sheol h7585)
14 If a man dieth, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change shall come.
Si el hombre se muriere, ¿ volverá él a vivir? Todos los días de mi edad esperaría, hasta que viniese mi mutación.
15 Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thy hands.
Entonces aficionado a la obra de tus manos llamar me has, y yo te responderé.
16 For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin?
Porque ahora me cuentas los pasos, y no das dilación a mi pecado.
17 My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up my iniquity.
Tienes sellada en manojo mi prevaricación, y añades a mi iniquidad.
18 And surely the mountain falling cometh to nought, and the rock is removed out of its place.
Y ciertamente el monte que cae, desfallece; y las peñas son traspasadas de su lugar.
19 The waters wear the stones: thou washest away the things which grow out of the dust of the earth; and thou destroyest the hope of man.
Las piedras son quebrantadas con el agua impetuosa, que se lleva el polvo de la tierra: así haces perder al hombre la esperanza.
20 Thou prevailest for ever against him, and he passeth: thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away.
Para siempre serás más fuerte que él, y él irá: demudarás su rostro, y le enviarás.
21 His sons come to honour, and he knoweth it not; and they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not of them.
Sus hijos serán honrados, y él no lo sabrá; o serán afligidos, y no dará cata en ello.
22 But his flesh upon him shall have pain, and his soul within him shall mourn.
Mas mientras su carne estuviere sobre él, se dolerá; y su alma se entristecerá en él.
