< Job 13 >

1 Lo, my eye hath seen all this, my ear hath heard and understood it.
“Atĩrĩrĩ, maitho makwa nĩmonete maũndũ macio mothe, matũ makwa nĩmamaiguĩte na magataũkĩrwo nĩmo.
2 What ye know, the same do I know also: I am not inferior to you.
Ũrĩa mũũĩ o na niĩ nĩnjũũĩ; mũtirĩ oogĩ kũngĩra.
3 Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God.
No niĩ ndĩrenda kwaria na Mwene-Hinya-Wothe, na ngerirĩria gũciira na Mũrungu.
4 But ye are forgers of lies, ye are all physicians of no value.
No inyuĩ-rĩ, mũranjigĩrĩra ndeto cia maheeni; inyuothe mũrĩ athondekani a tũhũ!
5 O that ye would altogether hold your peace! and it should be your wisdom.
Naarĩ korwo mwakira ki! Ũndũ ũcio ũngĩtuĩka ũũgĩ harĩ inyuĩ.
6 Hear now my reasoning, and hearken to the pleadings of my lips.
7 Will ye speak wickedly for God? and talk deceitfully for him?
Kaĩ mũngĩaria ũũru mũkĩarĩrĩria Mũrungu? Kaĩ mũngĩaria maheeni igũrũ rĩake?
8 Will ye accept his person? will ye contend for God?
Kaĩ mũngĩmuonia kĩmenyano? Kaĩ mũgũciirĩrĩra Mũrungu?
9 Is it good that he should search you out? or as one man mocketh another, do ye so mock him?
Angĩmũtuĩria inyuĩ-rĩ, ũndũ ũcio no ũtuĩke mwega? No mũmũheenie ta ũrĩa mũngĩheenia mũndũ?
10 He will surely reprove you, if ye do secretly accept persons.
Ti-itherũ no amũrũithie mũngĩtuĩka a kuonania kĩmenyano na hitho.
11 Shall not his excellency make you afraid? and his dread fall upon you?
Hĩ, riiri wake ndũngĩmũmakia? Mũtingĩnyiitwo nĩ guoya nĩ ũndũ wake?
12 Your remembrances are like ashes, your bodies to bodies of clay.
Mĩario yanyu ya ũũgĩ nĩ thimo hũthũ o ta mũhu; ihooto cianyu no ta kwĩgitĩra na rĩũmba.
13 Hold your peace, let me alone, that I may speak, and let come on me what will.
“Kirai ki, mũreke njarie; o ũrĩa ndĩrĩona-rĩ, rekei nyone.
14 Why do I take my flesh in my teeth, and put my life in my hand?
Nĩ kĩĩ gĩgũtũma ndĩtoonyie ũgwati-inĩ na ngaiga muoyo wakwa moko-inĩ makwa?
15 Though he shall slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will defend my own ways before him.
16 He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him.
Ti-itherũ, ũndũ ũyũ noguo ũgaatuĩka wa kũũhonokia, nĩgũkorwo mũndũ ũtooĩ Ngai ndangĩũmĩrĩria gũũka mbere yake!
17 Hear diligently my speech, and my declaration with your ears.
Thikĩrĩriai wega ũhoro wakwa; matũ manyu nĩmakĩigue ũrĩa nguuga.
18 Behold now, I have ordered my cause; I know that I shall be justified.
19 Who is he that will plead with me? for now, if I hold my tongue, I shall give up the ghost.
Nĩ kũrĩ mũndũ ũngĩhota gũũthitanga? Angĩkorwo nĩ kũrĩ-rĩ, no gũkira ngũkira ngue.
20 Only do not two things to me: then will I not hide myself from thee.
“Wee Ngai, ta kĩĩhe o maũndũ maya meerĩ, na ndigũcooka gũkwĩhitha:
21 Withdraw thy hand far from me: and let not thy dread make me afraid.
Atĩrĩ, eheria guoko gwaku, gũikare kũraya na niĩ, na ũtige kũũmakia na imakania ciaku.
22 Then call thou, and I will answer: or let me speak, and answer thou me.
Ningĩ ũnjĩte na nĩngwĩtĩka, kana ũkĩreke njarie, nawe ũnjookerie.
23 How many are my iniquities and sins? make me to know my transgression and my sin.
Nĩ mahĩtia na mehia maigana niĩ njĩkĩte? Nyonia ihĩtia na rĩĩhia rĩakwa.
24 Why hidest thou thy face, and holdest me for thy enemy?
Ũraahitha ũthiũ waku nĩkĩ, na ũkandua thũ yaku?
25 Wilt thou break a leaf driven to and fro? and wilt thou pursue the dry stubble?
Nĩũngĩnyamaria ithangũ rĩrahurutwo nĩ rũhuho? Nĩũgũtengʼerania na maragara momũ?
26 For thou writest bitter things against me, and makest me to possess the iniquities of my youth.
27 Thou puttest my feet also in the stocks, and observest carefully all my paths; thou settest a print upon the heels of my feet.
28 And he, as a rotten thing, consumeth, as a garment that is moth eaten.
“Nĩ ũndũ ũcio mũndũ amocaga ta kĩndũ kĩbuthĩte, agathira ta nguo ĩrĩĩtwo nĩ memenyi.
