Jeremiah 52
1 Zedekiah was one and twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.
Sédécias était âgé de vingt-un ans, quand il devint roi, et il régna onze ans à Jérusalem; et le nom de sa mère était Hamital, fille de Jérémie de Libna.
2 And he did that which was evil in the eyes of the LORD, according to all that Jehoiakim had done.
Et il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel, tout comme avait fait Jéhojakim.
3 For through the anger of the LORD it came to pass in Jerusalem and Judah, till he had cast them out from his presence, that Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.
A cause de cela l'Éternel fut tellement irrité contre Jérusalem et contre Juda, qu'il les bannit de sa présence. Or Sédécias s'était révolté contre le roi de Babel.
4 And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he and all his army, against Jerusalem, and encamped against it, and built forts against it on every side.
Et la neuvième année de son règne, le dixième mois, le dixième jour du mois, Nébucadnézar, roi de Babel, arriva avec toute son armée devant Jérusalem; et ils l'assiégèrent, et élevèrent des terrasses tout à l'entour.
5 So the city was besieged to the eleventh year of king Zedekiah.
Et la ville fut bloquée jusqu'à la onzième année du roi Sédécias.
6 And in the fourth month, in the ninth day of the month, the famine was great in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land.
Au quatrième mois, le neuvième jour du mois, la famine s'empara de la ville, et il n'y avait point de pain pour le peuple du pays.
7 Then the city was broken up, and all the men of war fled, and went forth from the city by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the king’s garden; (now the Chaldeans were by the city on all sides: ) and they went by the way of the plain.
Et la brèche fut faite, et tous les hommes de guerre prirent la fuite, et sortirent de la ville pendant la nuit par la porte qui est entre les deux murs près du jardin du roi: cependant les Chaldéens cernaient la ville, et ils prirent le chemin de la plaine.
8 But the army of the Chaldeans pursued the king, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho; and all his army was scattered from him.
Mais l'armée des Chaldéens poursuivit le roi, et ils atteignirent Sédécias dans les plaines de Jéricho, et toute son armée se débanda.
9 Then they took the king, and carried him to the king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath; where he gave judgment upon him.
Et ils se saisirent du roi, et le conduisirent au roi de Babel à Ribla, dans le pays de Hamath; et celui-ci prononça son jugement.
10 And the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes: he slew also all the princes of Judah in Riblah.
Et le roi de Babel égorgea les fils de Sédécias sous ses yeux, et il égorgea aussi tous les princes de Juda à Ribla.
11 Then he put out the eyes of Zedekiah; and the king of Babylon bound him in chains, and carried him to Babylon, and put him in prison till the day of his death.
Et il creva les yeux à Sédécias, et le lia avec des chaînes, et le roi de Babel le fit conduire à Babel, où il le tint en prison jusqu'à sa mort.
12 Now in the fifth month, in the tenth day of the month, which was the nineteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, came Nebuzaradan, captain of the guard, who served the king of Babylon, into Jerusalem,
Et le cinquième mois, le dixième jour du mois, (c'était la dix-neuvième année du roi Nébucadnézar, roi de Babel) Nébuzaradan, chef des satellites, ministre du roi à Babel, vint à Jérusalem,
13 And burned the house of the LORD, and the king’s house; and all the houses of Jerusalem, and all the houses of the great men, he burned with fire:
et brûla la maison de l'Éternel et la maison du roi et toutes les maisons de Jérusalem; il brûla par le feu toutes les grandes maisons.
14 And all the army of the Chaldeans, that were with the captain of the guard, broke down all the walls of Jerusalem on every side.
Et toute l'armée des Chaldéens qui était avec le chef des satellites, démolit tous les murs de Jérusalem dans toute sa circonférence.
15 Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive certain of the poor of the people, and the rest of the people that remained in the city, and those that fell away, that fell to the king of Babylon, and the rest of the multitude.
Et Nébuzaradan, chef des satellites, emmena [plusieurs] d'entre les petits du peuple, et le reste du peuple laissé dans la ville, et les transfuges qui avaient passé du côté du roi de Babel, et le reste de la multitude.
16 But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left certain of the poor of the land for vinedressers and for farmers.
Mais Nébuzaradan, chef des satellites, en laissa d'entre les petits du pays pour être vignerons et laboureurs.
17 Also the pillars of brass that were in the house of the LORD, and the bases, and the brasen sea that was in the house of the LORD, the Chaldeans broke, and carried all the brass of them to Babylon.
Et les Chaldéens brisèrent les colonnes d'airain qui étaient dans la maison de l'Éternel, et les piédestaux et la mer d'airain qui étaient dans la maison de l'Éternel, et ils en transportèrent tout l'airain à Babel.
18 The caldrons also, and the shovels, and the snuffers, and the bowls, and the spoons, and all the vessels of brass by which they ministered, they took away.
Et les chaudières, et les pelles, et les couteaux, et les fioles, et les coupes, et tous les ustensiles d'airain employés au service, ils les prirent;
19 And the basins, and the firepans, and the bowls, and the caldrons, and the lampstands, and the spoons, and the cups; that which was of gold in gold, and that which was of silver in silver, the captain of the guard took away.
et les bassins, et les brasiers, et les plats, et les pots, et les chandeliers, et les coupes et les calices, tout ce qui était d'or et d'argent, le chef des satellites le prit.
20 The two pillars, one sea, and twelve brasen bulls that were under the bases, which king Solomon had made in the house of the LORD: the brass of all these vessels was without weight.
Les deux colonnes, l'une des mers et les douze taureaux d'airain qui tenaient lieu de piédestal, et qu'avait faits le roi Salomon pour la maison de l'Éternel; le poids de l'airain de tous ces meubles était immense.
21 And concerning the pillars, the height of one pillar was eighteen cubits; and a band of twelve cubits surrounded it; and the thickness of it was four fingers: it was hollow.
Quant aux colonnes; chaque colonne avait dix-huit coudées de haut, et un cordon de douze coudées l'entourait, et leur épaisseur était de quatre doigts, car elles étaient creuses;
22 And a capital of brass was upon it; and the height of one capital was five cubits, with network and pomegranates upon the capitals around, all of brass. The second pillar also and the pomegranates were like these.
et elles étaient surmontées d'un chapiteau d'airain, et la hauteur d'un chapiteau était de cinq coudées; il y avait aussi un réseau et des grenades tout autour du chapiteau, le tout d'airain; il y avait les mêmes choses à l'autre colonne, et les grenades aussi.
23 And there were ninety and six pomegranates on a side; and all the pomegranates upon the network were an hundred on all sides.
Et les grenades étaient au nombre de quatre-vingt-seize du côté visible, et toutes les grenades étaient au nombre de cent tout autour du réseau.
24 And the captain of the guard took Seraiah the chief priest, and Zephaniah the second priest, and the three keepers of the door:
Et le chef des satellites prit Séraïa, souverain sacrificateur, et Sophonie, sacrificateur en second, et les trois gardes du seuil;
25 He took also out of the city an eunuch, who had the charge of the men of war; and seven men of them that were near the king’s person, who were found in the city; and the principal scribe of the host, who mustered the people of the land; and sixty men of the people of the land, that were found in the midst of the city.
et de la ville il prit un eunuque qui était préposé sur les hommes de guerre, et sept hommes parmi ceux qui voyaient le visage du roi, et qui furent trouvés dans la ville, et le secrétaire, général de l'armée, qui enrôlait le peuple du pays pour l'armée, et soixante hommes du peuple du pays, qui furent trouvés dans la ville;
26 So Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard took them, and brought them to the king of Babylon to Riblah.
Nébuzaradan, chef des satellites, les prit et les conduisit au roi de Babel à Ribla.
27 And the king of Babylon smote them, and put them to death in Riblah in the land of Hamath. Thus Judah was carried away captive out of his own land.
Et le roi de Babel les frappa et les mit à mort à Ribla, dans le pays de Hamath. Et c'est ainsi que Juda fut emmené loin de son pays.
28 This is the people whom Nebuchadnezzar carried away captive: in the seventh year three thousand Jews and three and twenty:
C'est ici le peuple que Nébucadnézar emmena: la septième année, trois mille et vingt-trois Juifs;
29 In the eighteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar he carried away captive from Jerusalem eight hundred and thirty and two persons:
la dix-huitième année de Nébucadnézar, de Jérusalem, huit cent trente-deux âmes;
30 In the three and twentieth year of Nebuchadnezzar Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive of the Jews seven hundred and forty and five persons: all the persons were four thousand and six hundred.
la vingt-troisième année de Nébucadnézar, Nébuzaradan, chef des satellites, emmena sept cent quarante-cinq Juifs; en tout quatre mille six cents âmes.
31 And it came to pass in the seven and thirtieth year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, in the five and twentieth day of the month, that Evilmerodach king of Babylon in the first year of his reign lifted up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah, and brought him out of prison,
Et la trente-septième année après la déportation de Jéhojachin, roi de Juda, dans le douzième mois, le vingt-cinquième jour du mois, Evilmérodach, roi de Babel, l'année où il devint roi, releva la tête de Jéhojachin, roi de Juda, et le fit sortir de prison;
32 And spoke kindly to him, and set his throne above the throne of the kings that were with him in Babylon,
et il lui dit des paroles de bonté, et plaça son siège au-dessus du siège des rois qui étaient avec lui à Babel,
33 And changed his prison garments: and he continually ate bread before him all the days of his life.
et il lui fit changer ses habits de prisonnier; et il mangea constamment en sa présence pendant tout le temps de sa vie.
34 And for his food, there was a continual diet given him of the king of Babylon, every day a portion until the day of his death, all the days of his life.
Et son entretien lui fut toujours fourni par le roi de Babel, jour par jour, jusqu'au jour de sa mort, tout le temps de sa vie.
