< Jeremiah 5 >

1 Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in her broad places, if ye can find a man, if there is any that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; and I will pardon it.
Jerusalem tollong ah van thikthuek uh lamtah hmu uh laeh. Ming uh lamtah a toltung ah tlap uh. Hlang na hmuh atah, tiktamnah a saii tih uepomnah a tlap atah anih te khodawk ka ngai ni.
2 And though they say, The LORD liveth; surely they swear falsely.
BOEIPA kah hingnah tah a thui uh akhaw a honghi lam ni tangkhuet a toemngam uh.
3 O LORD, are not thy eyes upon the truth? thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved; thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.
BOEIPA aw na mik te uepomnah ham moenih a? Amih te na taam dae a tloh pah moenih. Amih te na khah akhaw thuituennah doe ham a aal uh. A maelhmai te thaelpang lakah a ning sak uh tih mael hamla a aal uh.
4 Therefore I said, Surely these are poor; they are foolish: for they know not the way of the LORD, nor the judgment of their God.
Kai tah amih te tattloel rhoek rhep ka ti ngawn. BOEIPA kah khosing neh a Pathen kah laitloeknah te a ming uh pawt dongah nga uh coeng.
5 I will go to the great men, and will speak to them; for they have known the way of the LORD, and the judgment of their God: but these have altogether broken the yoke, and burst the bonds.
Tanglue rhoek te kamah ham ka caeh thil vetih amih te ka voek ni. Amih loh BOEIPA kah khosing neh a Pathen kah laitloeknah te a ming uh ta. Tedae amih loh hnamkun te rhenten a bawt uh tih kuelrhui khaw a dul uh.
6 Therefore a lion from the forest shall slay them, and a wolf of the evenings shall spoil them, a leopard shall watch over their cities: every one that goeth out from there shall be torn in pieces: because their transgressions are many, and their backslidings are increased.
Te dongah amih te duup lamkah sathueng loh a ngawn ni. kolken uithang loh amih te a rhoelrhak ni. Kaihlaeng loh a khopuei soah a hak thil coeng tih te lamkah aka thoeng boeih te a ngaeh ni. Amih kah boekoek khaw pung aih coeng tih a hnuknong, a hnuknong uh rhoek mah tahoeng aih coeng.
7 How shall I pardon thee for this? thy children have forsaken me, and sworn by them that are no gods: when I had fed them to the full, then they committed adultery, and assembled themselves by troops in the harlots’ houses.
Te dongah mebang khodawkngai nen lae nang taengah khodawk ka ngai eh? Na ca rhoek loh kai n'hno uh tih pathen pawt nen khaw a toemngam uh. Amih te ka kum sak lalah samphaih uh tih pumyoi im la det uh.
8 They were as fed horses in the morning: every one neighed after his neighbour’s wife.

9 Shall I not punish for these things? saith the LORD: and shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
Te dongah ka cawh mahpawt nim? BOEIPA kah olphong ni he. Te bang namtom soah atah ka hinglu loh phulo mahpawt nim?
10 Go ye up upon her walls, and destroy; but make not a full end: take away her battlements; for they are not the LORD’S.

11 For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against me, saith the LORD.

12 They have denied the LORD, and said, It is not he; neither shall evil come upon us; neither shall we see sword nor famine:
BOEIPA te a namnah uh tih, “Amah a om aih moenih. Mamih taengah yoethae neh cunghang khaw ha pawk mahpawh, khokha khaw m'hmuh uh mahpawh,” a ti uh.
13 And the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them: thus shall it be done to them.
Tonghma rhoek khaw khohli bangla om uh tih a khuiah oltang katang la om uh pawh. Amih taengah saii pai saeh.
14 Therefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.

17 And they shall eat up thy harvest, and thy bread, which thy sons and thy daughters should eat: they shall eat up thy flocks and thy herds: they shall eat up thy vines and thy fig trees: they shall impoverish with the sword thy fortified cities, in which thou didst trust.

19 And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, Why doeth the LORD our God all these things to us? then shalt thou answer them, As ye have forsaken me, and served foreign gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not yours.
“He boeih he mamih Pathen BOEIPA loh balae tih mamih taengah a saii,” a ti uh tue a pha bitni. Te vaengah amih te, “Kai nan hnoo uh tih na khohmuen ah kholong pathen taengah tho na thueng uh. 20 Declare this in the house of Jacob, and proclaim it in Judah, saying,
He he Jakob imkhui taengah puen pah lamtah amah Judah khuiah khaw yaak sak.
21 Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; who have eyes, and see not; who have ears, and hear not:
Lunghmang neh lungbuei aka talh pilnam long he ya laeh saeh. Amih te mik om dae hmuh uh pawh. Amih te hna khaw a khueh uh dae ya uh pawh.
22 Fear ye not me? saith the LORD: will ye not tremble at my presence, who have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though its waves toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it?
Kai he nang rhih uh moenih a? BOEIPA kah olphong ni he. Ka mikhmuh ah na thuen uh mahpawt nim? Tuitunli ham khorhi la laivin ka khueh pah. Kumhal oltlueh phoeikah he a poe thai moenih. Tuen uh cakhaw a coeng uh moenih. A tuiphu rhoek loh kawk cakhaw te te a poeng uh moenih.

26 For among my people are found wicked men: they lie in wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men.
Ka pilnam khuiah halang rhoek ni ka hmuh. Sayuep loh a naat bangla a mae tih hlang tuuk ham thaang a tung uh.
27 As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they have become great, and have grown rich.

28 They have become fat, they shine: yea, they exceed the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge.
Tha paduk neh hnal duihluih la boethae ol ni a loh uh. Dumlai dongah cadah kah dumlai tah lai a tloek uh kolla thaihtak uh tih khodaeng kah tiktamnah la laitloek uh pawh.

30 A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land;
Imsuep neh rhih-om he diklai ah thoeng.
31 The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in its end?
