Isaiah 18

1 Woe to the land shadowing with wings, which is beyond the rivers of Cush:

Høyr, du land med dei surrande vengjer, du land burtanfor elvarne i Ætiopia,

2 That sendeth ambassadors by the sea, even in vessels of bulrushes upon the waters, saying, Go, ye swift messengers, to a nation scattered and stripped, to a people terrible from their beginning to this time; a nation powerful and oppressive, whose land the rivers have spoiled!

du som hev sendt bodberarar yver havet, og i røyrbåtar yver vatnet! Gakk av stad, de snøgge sendemenner, til det røslege folket med glansande hud, til folket som dei ottast vida ikring, det sterke og sigersæle folket i det landet som vert gjenomskore av elvar!

3 All ye inhabitants of the world, and dwellers on the earth, see ye, when he lifteth up an ensign on the mountains; and when he bloweth a trumpet, hear ye.

Alle de som i heimsringen byggjer og på jordi bur: Når dei reiser merke på fjelli, so sjå til, og når luren ljomar, so høyr etter!

4 For so the LORD said to me, I will take my rest, and I will consider in my dwelling place like a clear heat upon herbs, and like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest.

For so hev Herren sagt til meg: Logn vil eg skoda ned frå min bustad, liksom soli gløder ned um sumaren, og liksom skyi sender dogg i den heite skurdtidi.

5 For before the harvest, when the bud is perfect, and the sour grape is ripening in the flower, he shall both cut off the sprigs with pruning hooks, and take away and cut down the branches.

For fyrr hausten er inne, just då blømingi er til ende, og blomen fer til å mognast til druva, då skal han skjera av rankorne med hagesigden og hogga renningarne burt.

6 They shall be left together to the fowls of the mountains, and to the beasts of the earth: and the fowls shall summer upon them, and all the beasts of the earth shall winter upon them.

Dei skal alle saman verta gjevne åt rovfuglarne på fjelli og åt dyri i marki; rovfuglarne skal der hava reiri sine um sumaren, og alle dyr på marki skal hava sitt tilhald der um vinteren.

7 In that time shall the present be brought to the LORD of hosts of a people scattered and stripped, and from a people terrible from their beginning to this time; a nation powerful and oppressive, whose land the rivers have spoiled, to the place of the name of the LORD of hosts, the mount Zion.

På den tidi skal det berast gåvor fram til Herren, allhers drott, frå det røslege folket med glansande hud, frå folket som dei ottast vida ikring, det sterke og sigersæle folket i det landet som vert gjenomskore av elvar - til den staden der namnet åt Herren, allhers drott, bur, til Sionsfjellet.
