< Hebrews 2 >

1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
Therefore we ought to pay greater attention to the things that were heard, so that we will not drift away.
2 For if the word spoken by angels was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;
For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense;
3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by them that heard him;
how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation—which at the first having been spoken through the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard;
4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to his own will?
God also testifying with them, both by signs and wonders, by various works of power, and by gifts of the Ruach ha-Kodesh, according to his own will?
5 For to the angels he hath not put in subjection the world to come, concerning which we speak.
For he did not subject the world to come, of which we speak, to angels.
6 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him?
But one has somewhere testified, saying, "What is man, that you think of him? Or the son of man, that you care for him?
7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou didst crown him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:
You made him a little lower than the angels. You crowned him with glory and honor.
8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not made subject to him. But now we see not yet all things made subject to him.
You have put all things in subjection under his feet." For in that he put all things under him, he left nothing that is not under him. But now we do not yet see that all things are under him.
9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
But we see him who has been made a little lower than the angels, Yeshua, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that by the grace of God he should taste of death for everyone.
10 For it was befitting for him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
For it became him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the author of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,
For both he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one, for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brothers,
12 Saying, I will declare thy name to my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise to thee.
saying, "I will declare your name to my brothers. In the midst of the assembly I will praise you."
13 And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me.
And again, "I will put my trust in him." And again, "Look, I and the children whom God has given me."
14 Since then the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
Since then the children have shared in flesh and blood, he also himself in like manner partook of the same, that through death he might bring to nothing him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,
15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
and might deliver all of them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.
For, truly, he did not come to help the angels, but to help the offspring of Abraham.
17 Therefore in all things it behoved him to be made like his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
Therefore he was obligated in all things to be made like his brothers, that he might become a merciful and faithful cohen hagadol in things pertaining to God, to make atonement for the sins of the people.
18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to help them that are tempted.
For in that he himself has suffered being tempted, he is able to help those who are tempted.
