Habakkuk 1

1 The burden which Habakkuk the prophet saw.

Detta är den tunge, som Propheten Habacuc sett hafver.

2 O LORD, how long shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear! even cry out to thee of violence, and thou wilt not save!

Herre, huru länge skall jag ropa, och du vill icke höra? Huru länge skall jag ropa till dig för öfvervålds skull, och du vill icke hjelpa?

3 Why dost thou show me iniquity, and cause me to behold grievance? for plundering and violence are before me: and there are that raise strife and contention.

Hvi låter du mig se mödo och arbete? Hvi hafver du låtit mig se rof och öfvervåld? Våld går öfver rätt.

4 Therefore the law is feeble, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth surround the righteous; therefore judgment goeth forth perverted

Derföre måste lagen blifva tillbaka, och ingen rätt kan till ända komma; ty den ogudaktige öfverfaller den rättfärdiga, derföre gå vrånga domar.

5 Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvellously: for I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you.

Ser ibland Hedningarna; ser till, och förundrer eder ty jag vill något göra i edrom tid, det i icke tro skolen, då man derom talar.

6 For, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, which shall march through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwellingplaces that are not theirs.

Ty si, jag vill uppväcka de Chaldeer, ett bittert och snart folk, hvilket draga skall så vidt som landet är, till att intaga de boningar som icke äro deras.

7 They are terrible and dreadful: their judgment and their dignity shall proceed from themselves.

Och skall vara grufveligit och förfärligit; och skall bjuda och tvinga såsom det vill.

8 Their horses also are swifter than the leopards, and are more fierce than the evening wolves: and their horsemen shall spread themselves, and their horsemen shall come from far; they shall fly as the eagle that hasteth to eat.

Deras hästar äro raskare än parder, så äro de ock ilsknare än ulfvar om aftonen; hans resenärer draga med storom hopom fjerranefter, lika som de flögo, såsom örnar hasta sig till ett as.

9 They shall come all for violence: their faces shall sup up as the east wind, and they shall gather the captives as the sand.

De komma allesamman till att göra skada ehvart de vilja; der gå de igenom, lika som ett östan väder, och samka fångar tillhopa, såsom sand.

10 And they shall scoff at the kings, and the princes shall be a scorn to them: they shall laugh at every strong hold; for they shall heap dust, and take it.

De skola bespotta Konungar, och begabba Förstar; all fäste skola vara dem ett skämt; ty de skola göra der blåverk före, och vinna dem.

11 Then shall his mind change, and he shall pass over, and offend, imputing this his power to his god.

Då skola de taga sig ett nytt mod, fara framåt och synda; och så måste då deras seger höra deras gud till.

12 Art thou not from everlasting, O LORD my God, my Holy One? we shall not die. O LORD, thou hast ordained them for judgment; and, O mighty God, thou hast established them for correction.

Men du Herre, min Gud, min Helige, du som äst af evighet, låt oss icke dö; utan låt dem, Herre, allenast vara oss till ett straff; och låt dem, o vår tröst, allenast tukta oss.

13 Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: why lookest thou on them that deal treacherously, and keepest silence when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he?

Din ögon äro ren, så att du icke orkar se det onda, och kan icke se uppå jämmer. Hvi ser du då på de öfverträdare, och tiger, att den ogudaktige uppslukar den, som frommare är än han?

14 And makest men as the fishes of the sea, as the creeping things, that have no ruler over them?

Och låter menniskorna gå, lika som fiskar i hafvet; såsom matkar, de ingen herm hafva?

15 They take up all of them with the hook, they catch them in their net, and gather them in their drag: therefore they rejoice and are glad.

De dragat allt med krok, och fuskar med sin nät, och församlat med sin garn; dess fröjda de sig, och äro glade.

16 Therefore they sacrifice to their net, and burn incense to their drag; because by them their portion is fat, and their food plenteous.

Derföre offra de sinom nätom, och röka sinom garnom; efter det deras del är derigenom så fet, och deras mat så kräselig vorden.

17 Shall they therefore empty their net, and not spare continually to slay the nations?

Derföre kasta de sin nät ännu alltid ut, och vilja icke återvända att dräpa folk.
