Genesis 13
1 And Abram returned from Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south.
És fölment Ávrom Egyiptomból, ő, az ő felesége és mindene, amije volt, meg Lót is ővele, dél felé.
2 And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.
Ávrom pedig igen gazdag volt marhában, ezüstben és aranyban.
3 And he went on his journeys from the south even to Bethel, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai;
És ment állomásai szerint délről Bész-Élig, azon helyig, ahol a sátra volt eleinte, Bész-Él és Áj között,
4 To the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first: and there Abram called on the name of the LORD.
az oltár helyére, melyet készített ott elsőízben; és hívta ott Ávrom az Örökkévaló nevét.
5 And Lot also, who went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents.
De Lótnak is, ki Ávrommal ment, voltak juhai, marhái és sátrai.
6 And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together: for their substance was great, so that they could not dwell together.
És nem bírta meg őket a föld, hogy együtt, lakjanak, mert szerzeményük sok volt, és nem bírtak együtt lakni.
7 And there was a strife between the herdmen of Abram’s cattle and the herdmen of Lot’s cattle: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelt then in the land.
És civakodás volt Ávrom nyájának pásztorai és Lót nyájának pásztorai között; a Kánaáni és a Perizzi akkor az országban volt.
8 And Abram said to Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we are brethren.
És mondta Ávrom Lótnak: Ne legyen, kérlek, civakodás közöttem és közötted, az én pásztoraim és a te pásztoraid között; hisz atyafiak vagyunk mi.
9 Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou wilt depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left.
Nemde az egész ország előtted van? Válj el, kérlek, tőlem! Ha te balra mész, én jobbra megyek, ha pedig te jobbra mész, én balra megyek.
10 And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest to Zoar.
És fölvetette Lót szemeit és látta a Jordán egész környékét, hogy az egész megáztatott, – mielőtt elpusztította az Örökkévaló Szodomát és Gomorrhát – olyan, mint az Örökkévaló kertje, mint Egyiptom országa Cóár felé.
11 Then Lot chose for himself all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other.
És választotta Lót magának a Jordán egész környékét és elvonult Lót keletről; így elváltak egymástól.
12 Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelt in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom.
Ávrom lakott Kánaán országában, Lót pedig lakott a környék városaiban és sátorozott Szodomáig.
13 But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly.
Szodoma emberei pedig gonoszak és bűnösök voltak az Örökkévaló előtt, igen nagyon.
14 And the LORD said to Abram, after Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:
Az Örökkévaló pedig mondta Ávromnak, miután Lót elvált tőle: Vesd fel csak szemeidet és tekints arról a helyről, ahol vagy, északra, délre, keletre és nyugatra;
15 For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.
mert az egész országot, amelyet látsz, neked adom és a te magzatodnak örökre.
16 And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.
És teszem a te magzatodat annyivá, mint a föld pora hogy megbírja valaki számlálni a föld porát, úgy lesz a te magzatod is megszámlálható.
17 Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it to thee.
Kelj fel, járd be az országot hosszában és széltében, mert neked adom azt.
18 Then Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar to the LORD.
És Ávrom sátorozott és elérkezett és letelepedett Mámré tölgyeinél, melyek Hebrónban vannak; és épített ott oltárt az Örökkévalónak.
