< Ezra 5 >

1 Then the prophets, Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied to the Jews that were in Judah and Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel, even to them.
Te vaengah tonghma Haggai neh tonghma Iddo capa Zekhariah te tonghma rhoi. Amih rhoi tah a soah Israel Pathen ming a phuk thil Judah neh Jerusalem kah Yahudi tonghma rhoek ni.
2 Then rose up Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and began to build the house of God which is at Jerusalem: and with them were the prophets of God helping them.
Te vaengah Shaeltiel capa Zerubbabel neh Jozadak capa Jeshua te thoo tih Jerusalem kah Pathen im sak ham te a tong uh. Pathen tonghma rhoek khaw amih rhoi taengah om tih amih rhoi te a bom uh.
3 At the same time came to them Tatnai, governor on this side of the river, and Shetharboznai, and their companions, and said thus to them, Who hath commanded you to build this house, and to make up this wall?
Te vaeng tue ah amih taengla sok paem boei Tattenai, Shetharboznai neh a hui rhoek te cet. Te phoeiah amih te, “He im sak ham neh he imbang coeng ham nangmih taengah saithainah aka pae te unim?
4 Then said we to them after this manner, What are the names of the men that make this building?
He im aka sa hlang rhoek ming te amih taengah ka thui uh bal coeng,” a ti uh.
5 But the eye of their God was upon the elders of the Jews, that they could not cause them to cease, till the matter came to Darius: and then they returned answer by letter concerning this matter.
Tedae amih kah Pathen mik loh Yahudi a hamca rhoek a om thil dongah Darius taengla hlangcal pawk tih te ham te ca a mael hlan hil amih te paa sak pawh.
6 The copy of the letter that Tatnai, governor on this side of the river, and Shetharboznai, and his companions the Apharsachites, who were on this side of the river, sent to Darius the king:
Sok paem boei Tattenai, Shetharboznai neh a hui rhoek, sok paem kah boei rhoek loh Darius manghai taengla ca tlaep te a pat.
7 They sent a letter to him, in which was written thus; To Darius the king, all peace.
Anih taengla ol a pat uh vaengah a khui ah he tlam he a daek. Darius manghai taengah ngaimongnah boeih om saeh.
8 Be it known to the king, that we went into the province of Judea, to the house of the great God, which is built with great stones, and timber is laid in the walls, and this work proceedeth quickly, and prospereth in their hands.
Judah paeng kah boeilen Pathen im la ka caeh te manghai taengah mingpha saeh. Te te lung nu a sak uh tih thoh khuiah thing neh a pae. Imsak he tluem tluem a saii tih a kut dongah bi khaw song.
9 Then we asked those elders, and said to them thus, Who commanded you to build this house, and to finish these walls?
A hamca rhoek te ka dawt tangloeng bal tih amih te, “He im sak ham neh imbang he coeng ham nangmih taengah saithainah aka pae te unim?” ka ti uh.
10 We asked their names also, to inform thee, that we might write the names of the men that were the chief of them.
Nang taengah mingpha sak ham amih te a ming khaw ka dawt uh. Amih lu soah hlang rhoek ming te khaw ka daek uh hamla.
11 And thus they returned us answer, saying, We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and build the house that was built these many years ago, which a great king of Israel built and set up.
Tedae ol te kaimih taengla ham mael uh tih amamih te, “Kaimih tah vaan neh diklai Pathen kah a tueihyoeih rhoek ni. Im a sak he hlamat kum a yet lamloh sak tangtae om coeng. Israel kah manghai boeilen loh a sak tih a coeng.
12 But after that our fathers had provoked the God of heaven to wrath, he gave them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, the Chaldean, who destroyed this house, and carried the people away into Babylon.
Tedae a pa rhoek loh vaan Pathen te a veet uh lamloh amih te Khalden kah Babylon manghai Nebukhadnezzar kut ah a paek. Te vaengah im he a khaih tih pilnam he Babylon la a khuen.
13 But in the first year of Cyrus the king of Babylon the same king Cyrus made a decree to build this house of God.
Babylon manghai Cyrus kah kah kum ah tah manghai Cyrus loh Pathen im he sak hamla saithainah a paek.
14 And the vessels also of gold and silver of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took out of the temple that was in Jerusalem, and brought them into the temple of Babylon, those did Cyrus the king take out of the temple of Babylon, and they were delivered to one, whose name was Sheshbazzar, whom he had made governor;
Pathen im kah hnopai pataeng sui neh cak khaw Jerusalem bawkim lamkah te, Nebukhadnezzar loh a loh tih Babylon kah bawkim la a khuen. Te te Cyrus manghai loh Babylon bawkim lamkah a loh. Te phoeiah a ming Sheshbazzar la a khue tih boei la a khueh taengah a paek uh.
15 And said to him, Take these vessels, go, carry them into the temple that is in Jerusalem, and let the house of God be built in its place.
Te phoeiah anih te, “Hnopai he khuen lamtah cet laeh. Te Jerusalem kah bawkim ah khueh laeh. Pathen im khaw amah hmuen ah sa saeh,” a ti nah.
16 Then came the same Sheshbazzar, and laid the foundation of the house of God which is in Jerusalem: and since that time even until now hath it been in building, and yet it is not finished.
Sheshbazzar cet tangloeng tih Jerusalem kah Pathen im te khoengim a tloeng. Te lamlong tah tahae hil a sak uh dae coeng uh pawh.
17 Now therefore, if it seemeth good to the king, let there be search made in the king’s treasure house, which is there at Babylon, whether it is so, that a decree was made by Cyrus the king to build this house of God at Jerusalem, and let the king send his pleasure to us concerning this matter.
Manghai ham khaw a ngaih coeng mak atah Babylon manghai kah cabu im kah te pahoi thoelh saeh. Jerusalem ah Pathen im sak hamla manghai Cyrus lamloh saithainah a paek te a om khaming. Te dongah manghai kah a ngaihnah mah kaimih taengla ham pat saeh.
