Esther 9

1 Now in the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar, on the thirteenth day of the same, when the king’s commandment and his decree drew near to be put in execution, in the day that the enemies of the Jews hoped to have power over them, (though it was turned to the contrary, that the Jews had rule over them that hated them; )

१आता बाराव्या महिन्याच्या म्हणजे अदार महिन्याच्या तेराव्या दिवशी लोकांस राजाच्या आज्ञेचे व हुकूमाचे पालन करायचे होते, यहूद्यांच्या शत्रूंनी त्यांच्यावर वरचढ होण्याची आशा धरली होती पण त्याच्या उलट झाले, जे यहूद्यांचा द्वेष करत होते त्या शत्रूंपेक्षा यहूदी आता वरचढ झाले होते.

2 The Jews gathered themselves together in their cities throughout all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus, to lay hand on such as sought their harm: and no man could withstand them; for the fear of them fell upon all people.

२आपल्याला नेस्तनाबूत करु पाहणाऱ्या लोकांचा जोरदार प्रतिकार करता यावा म्हणून राजा अहश्वेरोशच्या राज्यातील सर्व ठिकाणचे यहूदी आपआपल्या नगरात एकत्र आले. त्यामुळे त्यांच्या विरोधात जायची कोणामध्येच ताकद नव्हती म्हणून यहूद्यांना ते लोक घाबरले.

3 And all the princes of the provinces, and the satraps, and the governors, and officers of the king, helped the Jews; because the fear of Mordecai fell upon them.

३शिवाय, सर्व प्रांतामधले अधिकारी, अधिपती, सरदार, आणि राजाचे कारभारी यांनी यहूद्यांना सहाय्य केले, कारण ते सगळे मर्दखयाला घाबरत होते.

4 For Mordecai was great in the king’s house, and his fame went out throughout all the provinces: for this man Mordecai became greater and greater.

४मर्दखय राजवाड्यातील मोठा व्यक्ती असून त्याची किर्ती राज्यातील सर्वापर्यंत पोहचली होती, मर्दखयाचे सामर्थ्य उत्तरोत्तर वाढत गेले.

5 Thus the Jews smote all their enemies with the stroke of the sword, and slaughter, and destruction, and did what they would to those that hated them.

५यहूद्यांनी आपल्या सर्व शत्रूंचा पाडाव केला. तलवार चालवून त्यांनी शत्रूला ठार केले व शत्रूंचा विध्वंस केला. आपला तिरस्कार करणाऱ्या शत्रूचा आपल्या इच्छेप्रमाणे समाचार घेतला.

6 And in Shushan the palace the Jews slew and destroyed five hundred men.

६शूशन या राजधानीच्या शहरात यहूद्यांनी पाचशेजणांचा वध करून धुव्वा उडवला.

7 And Parshandatha, and Dalphon, and Aspatha,

७शिवाय त्यांनी पुढील लोकांस ठार केले. पर्शन्दाथा, दलफोन, अस्पाथा,

8 And Poratha, and Adalia, and Aridatha,

८पोराथा, अदल्या, अरीदाथा,

9 And Parmashta, and Arisai, and Aridai, and Vajezatha,

९पर्मश्ता, अरीसई, अरीदय, वैजाथा,

10 The ten sons of Haman the son of Hammedatha, the enemy of the Jews, they slew; but on the spoil they laid not their hand.

१०हे हामानाचे दहा पुत्र होते. हम्मदाथाचा पुत्र हामान यहूद्यांचा शत्रू होता. यहूद्यांनी या सर्वांना ठार केले खरे, पण त्यांची मालमत्ता लुटली नाही.

11 On that day the number of those that were slain in Shushan the palace was brought before the king.

११तटबंदी असलेल्या शूशनमध्ये, त्यादिवशी किती जण मारले गेले ते राजाला सांगण्यात आले.

12 And the king said to Esther the queen, The Jews have slain and destroyed five hundred men in Shushan the palace, and the ten sons of Haman; what have they done in the rest of the king’s provinces? now what is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: or what is thy request further? and it shall be done.

१२तेव्हा राजा एस्तेर राणीला म्हणाला, “हामानाच्या दहा पुत्रासहीत यहूद्यांनी शूशनमध्ये पाचशे लोकांस मारले. आता राजाच्या इतर प्रांतांत काय करावे अशी तुझी इच्छा आहे? तुझी काय विनंती आहे? ती मान्य करण्यात येईल. तुझी काय मागणी आहे? ती तुझ्यासाठी मान्य करण्यात येईल.”

13 Then said Esther, If it shall please the king, let it be granted to the Jews who are in Shushan to do to morrow also according to this day’s decree, and let Haman’s ten sons be hanged upon the gallows.

१३एस्तेर म्हणाली, “राजाची मर्जी असेल तर शूशनमध्ये यहूद्यांना आजच्यासारखेच उद्या करु द्यावे आणि हामानाच्या दहा पुत्रांचे देहही खांबावर टांगावे.”

14 And the king commanded it so to be done: and the decree was given at Shushan; and they hanged Haman’s ten sons.

१४तेव्हा राजाने तशी आज्ञा दिली. शूशनमध्ये तोच कायदा दुसऱ्या दिवशीही चालू राहिला. हामानाच्या दहा मुलांना टांगले गेले.

15 For the Jews that were in Shushan gathered themselves together on the fourteenth day also of the month Adar, and slew three hundred men at Shushan; but on the spoil they laid not their hand.

१५अदार महिन्याच्या चौदाव्या दिवशी शूशनमधील यहूदी एकत्र जमले आणि त्यांनी शूशनमधल्या तीनशे जणांना जिवे मारले पण त्यांच्या संपत्तीची लूट केली नाही.

16 But the other Jews that were in the king’s provinces gathered themselves together, and defended their lives, and had rest from their enemies, and slew of their foes seventy and five thousand, but they laid not their hands on the spoil,

१६त्यावेळी राजाच्या प्रांतांमधले यहूदीदेखील आपल्या संरक्षणासाठी एकत्र जमले आणि आपल्या शत्रुपासून त्यांना विसावा मिळाला. जे त्यांचा द्वेष करत होते त्या पंचाहत्तर हजार लोकांस त्यांनी ठार केले, पण त्यांनी ज्यांना ठार केले त्यांच्या मालमत्तेला हात लावला नाही.

17 On the thirteenth day of the month Adar; and on the fourteenth day of the same they rested, and made it a day of feasting and gladness.

१७अदार महिन्याच्या तेराव्या दिवशी हे घडले चौदाव्या दिवशी यहूद्यांनी विश्रांती घेतली आणि तो दिवस त्यांनी आनंदोत्सवाचा व मेजवाणीचा ठरविला.

18 But the Jews that were at Shushan assembled together on the thirteenth day of the month, and on the fourteenth of it; and on the fifteenth day of the same they rested, and made it a day of feasting and gladness.

१८परंतु शूशनमधील यहूदी अदार महिन्याच्या तेराव्या आणि चौदाव्या दिवशी एकत्र आले होते. मग पंधराव्या दिवशी त्यांनी आराम केला. पंधरावा दिवस त्यांनी मेजवाणीचा व आनंदोत्सवाचा ठरविला.

19 Therefore the Jews of the villages, that dwelt in the unwalled towns, made the fourteenth day of the month Adar a day of gladness and feasting, and a good day, and of sending portions one to another.

१९म्हणून खेडोपाडी राहणारे जे यहूदी गावकूस नसलेल्या गावात राहतात ते अदारच्या चतुर्दशीला पुरीम हा सण साजरा करतात. त्यांचा सण चतुर्दशीला असतो. त्यादिवशी ते मेजवान्या देतात आणि भेटवस्तूंची देवाणघेवाण करतात.

20 And Mordecai wrote these things, and sent letters to all the Jews that were in all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus, both near and far,

२०मर्दखयाने जे घडले त्याची नोंद केली आणि त्याने राजा अहश्वेरोशच्या प्रांतातील जवळ व दूरच्या सर्व प्रांतातील यहूद्यांना पत्रे पाठवली,

21 To establish this among them, that they should keep the fourteenth day of the month Adar, and the fifteenth day of the same, yearly,

२१दरवर्षी अदार महिन्याचा चौदावा आणि पंधरावा दिवसही अगत्याने पाळावा,

22 As the days in which the Jews rested from their enemies, and the month which was turned to them from sorrow to joy, and from mourning into a good day: that they should make them days of feasting and joy, and of sending portions one to another, and gifts to the poor.

२२त्या दिवशी यहूद्यांना आपल्या शत्रूंपासून विसावा मिळाला म्हणून त्या दिवशी आनंदोत्सव साजरा करावा. या महिन्यात त्यांच्या शोकाचे रुपांतर आनंदात झाले. म्हणून हा महिनाही उत्सवासारखा साजरा करावा. या महिन्यात त्यांच्या आक्रोशाचे रुपांतर आनंदोत्सवाच्या दिवसात झाले. मर्दखयाने सर्व यहूद्यांना पत्रे लिहिली. सणासुदीचे दिवस म्हणून त्याने हे दिवस त्यांना साजरे करायला सांगितले. त्या दिवशी त्यांनी मेजवान्या द्याव्यात, भेटवस्तूंची देवाणघेवाण करावी आणि गरिबांना भेटवस्तू द्याव्यात.

23 And the Jews undertook to do as they had begun, and as Mordecai had written to them;

२३मर्दखयाने त्यांना लिहिले होते त्याप्रमाणे यहूद्यांनी सुरवात केली होती तो उत्सव त्यांनी पुढेही चालू ठेवला.

24 Because Haman the son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, the enemy of all the Jews, had devised against the Jews to destroy them, and had cast Pur, that is, the lot, to consume them, and to destroy them;

२४हम्मदाथाचा पुत्र अगागी हामान सर्व यहूद्यांचा शत्रू होता. त्याने यहूद्यांचा नायनाट करण्याचे कपटी कारस्थान रचले होते. यहूद्यांच्या संहारासाठी त्याने चिठ्ठी टाकून दिवस ठरवला होता.

25 But when Esther came before the king, he commanded by letters that his wicked plot, which he devised against the Jews, should return upon his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.

२५परंतु राजासमोर ही गोष्ट आली तेव्हा त्याने अशी लिखीत आज्ञा काढली की, कपटी हामानाने यहूदी लोकांविरूद्ध रचलेल्या कारस्थानाचा दोष त्यांच्या माथी मारावा आणि त्यास व त्याच्या पुत्रांना फाशी देण्यात यावी.

26 Therefore they called these days Purim after the name of Pur. Therefore for all the words of this letter, and of that which they had seen concerning this matter, and which had come to them,

२६यास्तव पूर या शब्दावरून “पुरीम” असे म्हणत, म्हणून या दिवसास “पुरीम” नाव पडले. कारण त्या पत्रामध्ये लिहिलेल्या सर्व गोष्टी, त्यांनी पाहिलेले सर्व काही आणि त्याच्याबाबतीत जे घडले होते त्यामुळे यहूद्यांनी ही प्रथा स्विकारली.

27 The Jews ordained, and took upon them, and upon their seed, and upon all such as joined themselves to them, so as it should not fail, that they would keep these two days according to their writing, and according to their appointed time every year;

२७यहूद्यांनी नवीन रीत व कर्तव्य स्विकारले. ही रीत आपल्यासाठी, आपल्या वंशजासाठी व जो प्रत्येकजन त्यांना जोडलेले आहे तो. आपण हे दोन दिवस प्रत्येक वर्षी साजरे करावेत. ते त्यांच्या नियमानुसार आणि प्रत्येकवर्षी त्याच वेळी साजरे करावे.

28 And that these days should be remembered and kept throughout every generation, every family, every province, and every city; and that these days of Purim should not fail to be observed among the Jews, nor the memorial of them perish from their seed.

२८प्रत्येक पिढी आणि प्रत्येक कुटुंब या दिवसाची आठवण ठेवते. सर्व प्रांतांमध्ये आणि सर्व नगरामध्ये हा दिवस साजरा केला जातो. पुरीमचे हे दिवस साजरे करण्याची प्रथा यहूदी कधीही सोडणार नाहीत. यहूद्यांचे वंशजही हा सण नेहमी लक्षात ठेवतील.

29 Then Esther the queen, the daughter of Abihail, and Mordecai the Jew, wrote with all authority, to confirm this second letter of Purim.

२९मग अबीहाईल ची कन्या राणी एस्तेर आणि यहूदी मर्दखय यांनी पुरीमविषयी एक फर्मान लिहिले. हे दुसरे पत्र ही पूर्णपणे सत्य आहे हे सिध्द करण्यासाठी त्यांनी ते फर्मान राजाच्या पूर्ण अधिकारानिशी काढले.

30 And he sent the letters to all the Jews, to the hundred twenty and seven provinces of the kingdom of Ahasuerus, with words of peace and truth,

३०राजा अहश्वेरोशाच्या राज्यातील एकशेसत्तावीस प्रांतांमधील समस्त यहूद्यांना मर्दखयाने पत्रे लिहिली. त्यामध्ये शांतीची सत्य वचने होती.

31 To confirm these days of Purim in their times appointed, according as Mordecai the Jew and Esther the queen had established for them, and as they had decreed for themselves and for their seed, the matters of the fastings and their lamentations.

३१पुरीम साजरा करायला लोकांस सांगण्यासाठी मर्दखयाने ही पत्रे लिहिली. आणि हा नवीन सण केव्हा साजरा करायचा हे ही त्याने सांगितले. यहूदी मर्दखय आणि राणी एस्तेर यांनी यहूद्यांसाठी आदेश पाठवले होते. यहूद्यांमध्ये आणि त्यांच्या वंशजामध्ये हा दोन दिवसाचा सण पक्का रुजावा म्हणून त्या दोघांनी ही कृती केली. इतर सणांच्या दिवशी जसे ते उपवास करून आणि शोक करून तो सण आठवणीने पाळतात तसा हा सण त्यांनी इथून पुढे पाळावा.

32 And the decree of Esther confirmed these matters of Purim; and it was written in the book.

३२पुरीमचे नियम एस्तेरच्या आज्ञेने ठरविण्यात आले. आणि या गोष्टींची लेखी नोंद ग्रंथात झाली.
