Deuteronomy 9
1 Hear, O Israel: Thou art to pass over Jordan this day, to go in to possess nations greater and mightier than thyself, cities great and fortified up to heaven,
ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೇ, ಕೇಳಿರಿ, ನೀವು ಹೋಗಿ ನಿಮಗಿಂತ ದೊಡ್ಡ, ಬಲಿಷ್ಠ ಜನಾಂಗಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಆಕಾಶದವರೆಗೆ ಭದ್ರಮಾಡಿದ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳನ್ನೂ ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ಯೊರ್ದನ್ ನದಿಯನ್ನು ದಾಟಲಿದ್ದೀರಿ.
2 A people great and tall, the children of the Anakims, whom thou knowest, and of whom thou hast heard it said, Who can stand before the children of Anak!
ಆ ನಾಡಿನ ಅನಾಕ್ಯರು ಬಲಿಷ್ಠರು ಮತ್ತು ಎತ್ತರವಾದ ಪುರುಷರು ಆಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವರ ವಿಷಯ ನಿಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿದೇ ಇದೆ. “ಅನಾಕ್ಯರ ಮುಂದೆ ಯಾರು ನಿಲ್ಲುವರು?” ಎಂಬ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಅವರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಕೇಳಿದ್ದೀರಿ.
3 Understand therefore this day, that the LORD thy God is he who goeth over before thee; as a consuming fire he shall destroy them, and he shall bring them down before thy face: so shalt thou drive them out, and destroy them quickly, as the LORD hath said to thee.
ಹೀಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ನೀವು ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳತಕ್ಕದ್ದೇನೆಂದರೆ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರೇ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅವರು ದಹಿಸುವ ಅಗ್ನಿಯಾಗಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ನಾಶಮಾಡುವರು. ದೇವರು ಅವರನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದೆ ಸೋಲಿಸುವರು. ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿಮಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ ಹಾಗೆ ನೀವು ಅವರನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಅವರನ್ನು ಬೇಗ ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕುವಿರಿ.
4 Speak not thou in thy heart, after that the LORD thy God hath cast them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness the LORD hath brought me in to possess this land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD doth drive them out from before thee.
ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಅವರನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದೆ ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕಿದಾಗ, “ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಈ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಪಡಿಸಲು ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದಿದ್ದು ನಮ್ಮ ನೀತಿಯ ನಿಮಿತ್ತವೇ,” ಎಂದು ನೀವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಾರದು. ಆ ಜನಾಂಗಗಳ ಕೆಟ್ಟತನದ ನಿಮಿತ್ತವೇ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಅವರನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದೆ ಹೊರಡಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.
5 Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thy heart, dost thou go to possess their land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may perform the word which the LORD swore to thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
ನಿಮ್ಮ ನೀತಿಗೋಸ್ಕರವೂ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಹೃದಯದ ಯಥಾರ್ಥತೆಗೋಸ್ಕರವೂ ನೀವು ಅವರ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಸ್ವತಂತ್ರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಆ ಜನಾಂಗಗಳ ಕೆಟ್ಟತನಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರವೂ, ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪಿತೃಗಳಾದ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮ್, ಇಸಾಕ್, ಯಾಕೋಬರಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಪೂರೈಸುವ ಹಾಗೆಯೂ ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಅವರನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದೆ ಹೊರಡಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.
6 Understand therefore, that the LORD thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou art a stiffnecked people.
ಹೀಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ನಿಮ್ಮ ನೀತಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿಮಗೆ ಈ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ನೀವು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ನೀವು ಹಟಮಾರಿ ಜನಾಂಗವಾಗಿದ್ದೀರಿ.
7 Remember, and forget not, how thou didst provoke the LORD thy God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that thou didst depart from the land of Egypt, until ye came to this place, ye have been rebellious against the LORD.
ನೀವು ಮರುಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಕೋಪವನ್ನೆಬ್ಬಿಸಿದ್ದನ್ನು ಜ್ಞಾಪಕಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ. ಮರೆಯಬೇಡಿರಿ. ನೀವು ಈಜಿಪ್ಟ್ ದೇಶದಿಂದ ಹೊರಟ ದಿವಸ ಮೊದಲ್ಗೊಂಡು ಈ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುವವರೆಗೆ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ತಿರುಗಿಬೀಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದೀರಿ.
8 Also in Horeb ye provoked the LORD to wrath, so that the LORD was angry with you to have destroyed you.
ನೀವು ಹೋರೇಬಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಕೋಪವನ್ನೆಬ್ಬಿಸಿದಾಗ, ಅವರು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ಸಿಟ್ಟುಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ನಾಶಮಾಡಬೇಕೆಂದಿದ್ದರು.
9 When I went up to the mount to receive the tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant which the LORD made with you, then I abode in the mount forty days and forty nights, I neither ate bread nor drank water:
ಆ ಕಲ್ಲಿನ ಹಲಗೆಗಳು ಅಂದರೆ, ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾಡಿದ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯ ಹಲಗೆಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನಾನು ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಮೇಲೆ ಏರಿದಾಗ, ನಲವತ್ತು ದಿವಸ ಹಗಲುರಾತ್ರಿ ಬೆಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದೆನು. ರೊಟ್ಟಿ ತಿನ್ನಲಿಲ್ಲ, ನೀರೂ ಕುಡಿಯಲಿಲ್ಲ.
10 And the LORD delivered to me two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them was written according to all the words, which the LORD spoke with you in the mount from the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.
ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನನಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಬೆರಳಿನಿಂದ ಬರೆದ ಆ ಎರಡು ಕಲ್ಲಿನ ಹಲಗೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟರು. ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ಬೆಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಂಕಿಯೊಳಗಿಂದ ಸಭೆಕೂಡಿದ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಿದ ಆಜ್ಞೆಗಳೆಲ್ಲಾ ಆ ಹಲಗೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿದ್ದವು.
11 And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, that the LORD gave me the two tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant.
ನಲವತ್ತು ದಿವಸ ಹಗಲು ರಾತ್ರಿಗಳಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನನಗೆ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯ ಹಲಗೆಗಳಾದ ಆ ಎರಡು ಕಲ್ಲಿನ ಹಲಗೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟರು.
12 And the LORD said to me, Arise, go down quickly from here; for thy people which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt have corrupted themselves; they are quickly turned aside from the way which I commanded them; they have made them a molten image.
ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು, “ಎದ್ದು ಇಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಬೇಗ ಇಳಿದು ಹೋಗು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ನೀನು ಈಜಿಪ್ಟ್ ದೇಶದೊಳಗಿಂದ ಬರಮಾಡಿದ ನಿನ್ನ ಜನರು ಕೆಟ್ಟು ಹೋದರು. ನಾನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದ ಮಾರ್ಗವನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ತಮಗೆ ಎರಕ ಹೊಯ್ದ ವಿಗ್ರಹವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ,” ಎಂದು ನನಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದರು.
13 Furthermore the LORD spoke to me, saying, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people:
ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನನಗೆ, “ನಾನು ಈ ಜನರನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಇಗೋ, ಇದು ಆಜ್ಞೆಗೆ ವಿಧೇಯವಾಗದ ಜನಾಂಗವೇ.
14 Let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven: and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they.
ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಬಿಡು, ನಾನು ಅವರನ್ನು ನಾಶಮಾಡಿ, ಅವರ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಆಕಾಶದ ಕೆಳಗಿನಿಂದ ಅಳಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟು, ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಅವರಿಗಿಂತ ಬಲಿಷ್ಠವಾದ ಜನಾಂಗವಾಗಿ ಮಾಡುವೆನು,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
15 So I turned and came down from the mount, and the mount burned with fire: and the two tables of the covenant were in my two hands.
ಆಗ ನಾನು ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಂಡು ಬೆಟ್ಟದಿಂದ ಇಳಿದೆನು. ಆ ಬೆಟ್ಟವು ಬೆಂಕಿಯಿಂದ ಉರಿಯುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯ ಎರಡು ಹಲಗೆಗಳು ನನ್ನ ಎರಡು ಕೈಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದವು.
16 And I looked, and, behold, ye had sinned against the LORD your God, and had made you a molten calf: ye had turned aside quickly from the way which the LORD had commanded you.
ನಾನು ನೋಡಿದಾಗ, ನೀವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಪಾಪಮಾಡಿ, ಎರಕ ಹೊಯ್ದ ಕರುವನ್ನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು, ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿಮಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದ ಮಾರ್ಗವನ್ನು ಬೇಗ ಬಿಟ್ಟುಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೋಗಿದ್ದಿರಿ.
17 And I took the two tables, and cast them out of my two hands, and broke them before your eyes.
ಆಗ ನಾನು ಆ ಎರಡು ಹಲಗೆಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ನನ್ನ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಬಿಸಾಡಿ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದೆ ಒಡೆದು ಹಾಕಿದೆನು.
18 And I fell down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days and forty nights: I neither ate bread, nor drank water, because of all your sins which ye sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.
ಆಮೇಲೆ ನೀವು ಮಾಡಿದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪಾಪಗಳ ನಿಮಿತ್ತವೂ ನೀವು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಕೋಪವನ್ನೆಬ್ಬಿಸಿದ ನಿಮಿತ್ತವೂ ಮುಂಚಿನಂತೆ ನಲವತ್ತು ದಿವಸ ಹಗಲುರಾತ್ರಿ ಊಟಮಾಡದೆ, ನೀರು ಕುಡಿಯದೆ, ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಮುಂದೆ ಬಿದ್ದಿದ್ದೆನು.
19 For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure, with which the LORD was angry with you to destroy you. But the LORD hearkened to me at that time also.
ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ನಾಶಮಾಡುವಂತೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ಮಾಡುವ ಕೋಪ ರೌದ್ರಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೆದರಿದೆನು. ಆದರೆ ಆ ಸಾರಿ ಕೂಡ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನನ್ನ ಬೇಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದರು.
20 And the LORD was very angry with Aaron to have destroyed him: and I prayed for Aaron also at the same time.
ಆರೋನನನ್ನು ನಾಶಮಾಡುವಂತೆ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ಬಹಳ ಕೋಪಗೊಂಡರು. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಆರೋನನಿಗೋಸ್ಕರವೂ ಆ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ ಮಾಡಿದೆನು.
21 And I took your sin, the calf which ye had made, and burnt it with fire, and stamped it, and ground it very small, even until it was as small as dust: and I cast the dust of it into the brook that descended from the mount.
ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ನೀವು ಯಾವದರ ಮೂಲಕ ಪಾಪವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೀರೋ ಆ ಚಿನ್ನದ ಕರುವನ್ನು ನಾನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು, ಬೆಂಕಿಯಿಂದ ಸುಟ್ಟು, ಒಡೆದು, ಅರೆದು, ಧೂಳುಮಾಡಿ, ಬೆಟ್ಟದಿಂದ ಹರಿಯುವ ಹಳ್ಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಸಾಡಿದೆನು.
22 And at Taberah, and at Massah, and Kibrothhattaavah, ye provoked the LORD to wrath.
ನೀವು ತಬೇರಾ, ಮಸ್ಸಾ, ಕಿಬ್ರೋತ್ ಹತಾವಾ ಎಂಬ ಸ್ಥಳಗಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಕೋಪವನ್ನು ಎಬ್ಬಿಸಿದಿರಿ.
23 Likewise when the LORD sent you from Kadeshbarnea, saying, Go up and possess the land which I have given you; then ye rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God, and ye believed him not, nor hearkened to his voice.
ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕಾದೇಶ್ ಬರ್ನೇಯದಿಂದ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ, “ನೀವು ಹೋಗಿ ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಕೊಡುವ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದಾಗ, ನೀವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ತಿರುಗಿಬಿದ್ದು ಅವರನ್ನು ನಂಬಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವರ ಮಾತನ್ನೂ ಕೇಳಲಿಲ್ಲ.
24 Ye have been rebellious against the LORD from the day that I knew you.
ನಾನು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ತಿಳಿದಂದಿನಿಂದ ನೀವು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ತಿರುಗಿಬೀಳುವವರಾಗಿದ್ದೀರಿ.
25 Thus I fell down before the LORD forty days and forty nights, as I fell down at the first; because the LORD had said he would destroy you.
ಹೀಗಿರಲಾಗಿ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ನಾಶಮಾಡುತ್ತೇನೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದರಿಂದ, ನಾನು ಮುಂಚೆ ಬಿದ್ದುಕೊಂಡ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ನಲವತ್ತು ದಿವಸ ಹಗಲುರಾತ್ರಿ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಮುಂದೆ ಬಿದ್ದಿದ್ದೆನು.
26 I prayed therefore to the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, destroy not thy people and thy inheritance, which thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand.
ನಾನು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಮಾಡಿ, “ಸಾರ್ವಭೌಮ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರೇ, ನೀವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮಹಿಮೆಯಿಂದ ವಿಮೋಚಿಸಿ, ಬಲವಾದ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಈಜಿಪ್ಟಿನೊಳಗಿಂದ ಹೊರಗೆ ಬರಮಾಡಿದ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಜನರನ್ನು ನಾಶಮಾಡಬೇಡಿ.
27 Remember thy servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; look not to the stubbornness of this people, nor to their wickedness, nor to their sin:
ನಿಮ್ಮ ದಾಸರಾದ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮ್, ಇಸಾಕ್, ಯಾಕೋಬರನ್ನು ಜ್ಞಾಪಕಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ. ಈ ಜನರ ಕಾಠಿಣ್ಯದ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ, ಅವರ ದುಷ್ಟತ್ವದ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ, ಅವರ ಪಾಪದ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ದೃಷ್ಟಿ ಇಡಬೇಡಿ.
28 Lest the land from which thou hast brought us should say, Because the LORD was not able to bring them into the land which he promised them, and because he hated them, he hath brought them out to slay them in the wilderness.
ನೀವು ಯಾವ ದೇಶದಿಂದ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಬರಮಾಡಿದಿರೋ, ಆ ದೇಶದವರು, ‘ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೆ ವಾಗ್ದಾನ ಮಾಡಿದ ನಾಡಿಗೆ ಅವರನ್ನು ಸೇರಿಸಲಾರದೆ ಹಗೆಮಾಡಿ, ಮರುಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಲ್ಲುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋದರು’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಆಸ್ಪದವಾದೀತು.
29 Yet they are thy people and thy inheritance, which thou hast brought out by thy mighty power and by thy outstretched arm.
ಆದರೂ ನೀವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಶಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದಲೂ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಚಾಚಿದ ಕೈಯಿಂದಲೂ ಹೊರಗೆ ಬರಮಾಡಿದ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಜನವೂ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸೊತ್ತೂ ಇವರೇ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದೆನು.
