Deuteronomy 26

1 And it shall be, when thou hast come in to the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and dost possess it, and dwellest in it;

Lorsque tu seras entré dans le pays que Yahweh, ton Dieu, te donne pour héritage, que tu en auras pris possession et y seras établi,

2 That thou shalt take of the first of all the fruit of the earth, which thou shalt bring of thy land that the LORD thy God giveth thee, and shalt put it in a basket, and shalt go to the place which the LORD thy God shall choose to place his name there.

tu prendras une part des prémices de tous les produits du sol que tu auras retirés de ton pays, que te donne Yahweh, ton Dieu, et, l'ayant mise dans une corbeille, tu iras au lieu que Yahweh, ton Dieu, aura choisi pour y faire habiter son nom.

3 And thou shalt go to the priest that shall be in those days, and say to him, I profess this day to the LORD thy God, that I have come to the country which the LORD swore to our fathers to give us.

Tu te présenteras au prêtre alors en fonction, et tu lui diras: « Je déclare aujourd'hui à Yahweh, ton Dieu, que je suis entré dans le pays que Yahweh a juré à nos pères de nous donner. »

4 And the priest shall take the basket from thy hand, and set it down before the altar of the LORD thy God.

Le prêtre recevra la corbeille de ta main et la déposera devant l'autel de Yahweh, ton Dieu.

5 And thou shalt speak and say before the LORD thy God, A Syrian ready to perish was my father, and he went down to Egypt, and sojourned there with a few, and became there a nation, great, mighty, and populous:

Et prenant de nouveau la parole, tu diras devant Yahweh, ton Dieu: « Mon père était un Araméen prêt à périr; il descendit en Egypte avec peu de gens et y vécut en étranger; là il devint une nation grande, puissante et nombreuse.

6 And the Egyptians oppressed us, and afflicted us, and laid upon us hard bondage:

Les Egyptiens nous maltraitèrent, nous opprimèrent et nous imposèrent un dur servage.

7 And when we cried to the LORD God of our fathers, the LORD heard our voice, and looked on our affliction, and our labour, and our oppression:

Alors nous criâmes à Yahweh, le Dieu de nos pères, et Yahweh entendit notre voix et vit nos souffrances, notre misère et notre oppression.

8 And the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with great terribleness, and with signs, and with wonders:

Et Yahweh nous fit sortir d'Egypte, avec une main forte et le bras étendu, par une grande terreur, avec des signes et des prodiges.

9 And he hath brought us into this place, and hath given us this land, even a land that floweth with milk and honey.

Il nous a conduits dans ce lieu et il nous a donné ce pays, un pays où coulent le lait et le miel.

10 And now, behold, I have brought the firstfruits of the land, which thou, O LORD, hast given me. And thou shalt set it before the LORD thy God, and worship before the LORD thy God:

Et maintenant voici que j'apporte les prémices des produits du sol que vous m'avez donné, ô Yahweh. » Tu les déposeras devant Yahweh, ton dieu, et tu te prosterneras devant Yahweh, ton Dieu.

11 And thou shalt rejoice in every good thing which the LORD thy God hath given to thee, and to thy house, thou, and the Levite, and the stranger that is among you.

Puis tu te réjouiras, avec le Lévite et avec l'étranger qui sera au milieu de toi de tous les biens que Yahweh, ton Dieu, t'a donnés, à toi et à ta maison.

12 When thou hast finished tithing all the tithes of thy increase the third year, which is the year of tithing, and hast given it to the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled;

Lorsque tu auras achevé de lever toute la dîme de tes produits, la troisième année, l'année de la dîme, et que tu la donneras au lévite, à l'étranger, à l'orphelin et à la veuve, pour qu'ils la mangent dans tes portes et qu'ils se rassasient,

13 Then thou shalt say before the LORD thy God, I have brought away the hallowed things out of my house, and also have given them to the Levite, and to the stranger, to the fatherless, and to the widow, according to all thy commandments which thou hast commanded me: I have not transgressed thy commandments, neither have I forgotten them:

tu diras devant Yahweh, ton Dieu: « J'ai ôté de ma maison ce qui est consacré, et je l'ai donné au Lévite, à l'étranger, à l'orphelin et à la veuve, selon tous vos préceptes que vous m'avez donnés; je n'ai transgressé ni oublié aucun de vos préceptes.

14 I have not eaten of it in my mourning, neither have I taken away any of it for any unclean use, nor given any of it for the dead: but I have hearkened to the voice of the LORD my God, and have done according to all that thou hast commanded me.

Je n'ai pas mangé de ces choses pendant mon deuil, je n'en ai rien transporté hors de ma maison dans l'état d'impureté, et je n'en ai rien donné à l'occasion d'un mort; j'ai obéi à la voix de Yahweh, mon Dieu, j'ai agi selon tout ce vous m'avez prescrit.

15 Look down from thy holy habitation, from heaven, and bless thy people Israel, and the land which thou hast given us, as thou didst swear to our fathers, a land that floweth with milk and honey.

Regardez de votre demeure sainte, du ciel, et bénissez votre peuple d'Israël et le sol que vous nous avez donné, comme vous l'avez juré à nos pères, ce pays où coulent le lait et le miel. »

16 This day the LORD thy God hath commanded thee to perform these statutes and judgments: thou shalt therefore keep and do them with all thy heart, and with all thy soul.

Aujourd'hui Yahweh, ton Dieu, te commande de mettre en pratique ces lois et ces ordonnances; tu les observeras et tu les mettras en pratique de tout ton cœur et de toute ton âme.

17 Thou hast proclaimed the LORD this day to be thy God, and to walk in his ways, and to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and to hearken to his voice:

Tu as fait déclarer aujourd'hui à Yahweh qu'il sera ton Dieu, toi t'engageant de ton côté à marcher dans ses voies, à observer ses lois, ses commandements et ses ordonnances, et à obéir à sa voix.

18 And the LORD hath proclaimed thee this day to be his special people, as he hath promised thee, and that thou shouldest keep all his commandments;

Et Yahweh t'a fait déclarer aujourd'hui que tu lui serais un peuple particulier, comme il te l'a dit, observant tous ses commandements,

19 And to make thee high above all nations which he hath made, in praise, and in name, and in honour; and that thou mayest be an holy people to the LORD thy God, as he hath spoken.

lui s'engageant de son côté à te donner la supériorité sur toutes les nations qu'il a faites, en gloire, en renom et en splendeur, en sorte que tu sois un peuple saint à Yahweh, ton Dieu, comme il l'a dit. »
