Acts 9
1 And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest,
Bấy giờ, Sau-lơ chỉ hằng ngăm đe và chém giết môn đồ của Chúa không thôi, đến cùng thầy cả thượng phẩm,
2 And desired from him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.
xin người những bức thơ để gởi cho các nhà hội thành Ða-mách, hầu cho hễ gặp người nào thuộc về đạo bất kỳ đờn ông đờn bà, thì trói giải về thành Giê-ru-sa-lem.
3 And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shone around him a light from heaven:
Nhưng Sau-lơ đang đi đường gần đến thành Ða-mách, thình lình có ánh sáng từ trời soi sáng chung quanh người.
4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying to him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
Người té xuống đất, và nghe có tiếng phán cùng mình rằng: Hỡi Sau-lơ, Sau-lơ, sao ngươi bắt bớ ta?
5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the goads.
Người thưa rằng: Lạy Chúa, Chúa là ai? Chúa phán rằng: Ta là Jêsus mà ngươi bắt bớ;
6 And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said to him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.
nhưng hãy đứng dậy, vào trong thành, người ta sẽ nói cho ngươi mọi điều phải làm.
7 And the men who journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man.
Những kẻ cùng đi với người đều đứng lại sững sờ, nghe tiếng nói, mà chẳng thấy ai hết.
8 And Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw no man: but they led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus.
Sau-lơ chờ dậy khỏi đất, mắt dẫu mở, nhưng không thấy chi cả; người ta bèn cầm tay dắt người đến thành Ða-mách;
9 And he was three days without sight, and neither ate nor drank.
người ở đó trong ba ngày chẳng thấy, chẳng ăn và cũng chẳng uống.
10 And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord.
Vả, tại Ða-mách có một môn đồ tên là A-na-nia. Chúa phán cùng người trong sự hiện thấy rằng: Hỡi A-na-nia! Người thưa rằng: Lạy Chúa, có tôi đây.
11 And the Lord said to him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth,
Chúa phán rằng: Hãy chờ dậy, đi lên đường gọi là đường Ngay thẳng, tìm tên Sau-lơ, người Tạt-sơ, ở nhà Giu-đa; vì người đương cầu nguyện,
12 And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight.
và đã thấy một người, tên là A-na-nia, bước vào đặt tay trên mình, để cho người được sáng mắt lại.
13 Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem:
A-na-nia thưa rằng: Lạy Chúa, tôi có nghe nhiều kẻ nói người nầy đã làm hại biết bao các đấng thánh của Chúa trong thành Giê-ru-sa-lem.
14 And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name.
Bây giờ người ở đây, có trọn quyền của các thầy tế lễ cả phó cho, đặng bắt trói hết thảy mọi người cầu khẩn đến danh Ngài.
15 But the Lord said to him, Go: for he is a chosen vessel to me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:
Nhưng Chúa phán rằng: Hãy đi, vì ta đã chọn người nầy làm một đồ dùng ta, để đem danh ta đồn ra trước mặt các dân ngoại, các vua, và con cái Y-sơ-ra-ên;
16 For I will show him what great things he must suffer for my name’s sake.
ta lại sẽ tỏ ra cho người biết phải chịu đau đớn vì danh ta là bao nả.
17 And Ananias went, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared to thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mayest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Spirit.
A-na-nia bèn đi, vào nhà, rồi đặt tay trên mình Sau-lơ mà nói rằng: Hỡi anh Sau-lơ, Chúa là Jêsus nầy, đã hiện ra cùng anh trên con đường anh đi tới đây, đã sai tôi đến, hầu cho anh được sáng mắt lại và đầy Ðức Thánh Linh.
18 And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight immediately, and arose, and was baptized.
Tức thì có cái chi như cái vảy từ mắt người rớt xuống, thì người được sáng mắt; rồi chờ dậy và chịu phép báp-tem.
19 And when he had received food, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples who were at Damascus.
Khi người ăn uống rồi, thì được mạnh khỏe lại. Sau-lơ ở lại một vài ngày với các môn đồ tại thành Ða-mách.
20 And immediately he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.
Người liền giảng dạy trong các nhà hội rằng Ðức Chúa Jêsus là Con Ðức Chúa Trời.
21 But all that heard him were amazed, and said; Is not this he that destroyed them who called on this name in Jerusalem, and came here for that intent, that he might bring them bound to the chief priests?
Phàm những người nghe điều lấy làm lạ, mà nói rằng: Há chẳng phải chính người đó đã bắt bớ tại thành Giê-ru-sa-lem những kẻ cầu khẩn danh nầy, lại đến đây để trói họ điệu về cho các thầy tế lễ cả hay sao?
22 But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews who dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ.
Còn Sau-lơ lần lần càng thêm vững chí, bắt bẻ những người Giu-đa ở tại thành Ða-mách, mà nói rõ rằng Ðức Chúa Jêsus là Ðấng Christ.
23 And after many days were fulfilled, the Jews took counsel to kill him:
Cách lâu ngày, người Giu-đa mưu với nhau để giết Sau-lơ.
24 But their laying in wait was known to Saul. And they watched the gates day and night to kill him.
Nhưng có người báo tin cho Sau-lơ về cơ mưu chúng nó. Người ta lại giữ các cửa cả ngày và đêm đặng giết Sau-lơ.
25 Then the disciples took him by night, and let him down by the wall in a basket.
Song lúc ban đêm, các môn đồ lấy thúng dòng người xuống ngoài vách thành.
26 And when Saul had come to Jerusalem, he tried to join himself to the disciples: but they were all afraid of him, and believed not that he was a disciple.
Sau-lơ tới thành Giê-ru-sa-lem rồi, muốn hiệp với các môn đồ; nhưng hết thảy đều nghi sợ người, không tin là môn đồ.
27 But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared to them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.
Ba-na-ba bèn đem người đi, đưa đến các sứ đồ và thuật lại cho biết thể nào dọc đường Chúa đã hiện ra và phải cùng người, lại thể nào người đã giảng dạy cách bạo dạn về danh Ðức Chúa Jêsus tại thành Ða-mách.
28 And he was with them coming in and going out at Jerusalem.
Từ đó, Sau-lơ tới lui với môn đồ tại thành Giê-ru-sa-lem,
29 And he spoke boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus, and disputed against the Grecians: but they went about to slay him.
và nhơn danh Chúa mà nói cách dạn dĩ. Người cũng nói và cãi với những người Hê-lê-nít; nhưng bọn nầy tìm thế để hại mạng người.
30 Which when the brethren knew, they brought him down to Caesarea, and sent him forth to Tarsus.
Các anh em hay điều đó, thì đem người đến thành Sê-sa-rê, và sai đi đất Tạt-sơ.
31 Then had the churches rest throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, were multiplied.
Ấy vậy, Hội-thánh trong cả xứ Giu-đê, xứ Ga-li-lê và xứ Sa-ma-ri được hưởng sự bình an, gây dựng và đi trong đường kính sợ Chúa, lại nhờ Ðức Thánh Linh vùa giúp, thì số của hội được thêm lên.
32 And it came to pass, as Peter passed throughout all quarters, he came down also to the saints who dwelt at Lydda.
Vả, Phi -e-rơ đi khắp các xứ, cũng đến cùng các thánh đồ ở tại thành Ly-đa.
33 And there he found a certain man named Aeneas, who had kept his bed eight years, and was sick with the palsy.
Tại đó, Phi -e-rơ gặp một người đau bại tên là Ê-nê, nằm trên giường đã tám năm rồi.
34 And Peter said to him, Aeneas, Jesus Christ healeth thee: arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately.
Phi -e-rơ nói với người rằng: Hỡi Ê-nê, Ðức Chúa Jêsus-Christ chữa cho ngươi được lành, hãy chờ dậy, dọn đẹp lấy giường ngươi. Tức thì, người vùng dậy.
35 And all that dwelt at Lydda and Saron saw him, and turned to the Lord.
hết thảy dân ở Ly-đa và Sa-rôn thấy vậy đều trở về cùng Chúa.
36 Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, who by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.
Tại thành Giốp-bê, trong đám môn đồ, có một người đờn bà tên là Ta-bi-tha, nghĩa là Ðô-ca; người làm nhiều việc lành và hay bố thí.
37 And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid in an upper chamber.
Trong lúc đó, người đau và chết. Người ta tắm rửa xác người, rồi để yên trong một phòng cao.
38 And as Lydda was near to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent to him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them.
Môn đồ nghe Phi -e-rơ đương ở tại Ly-đa, gần thành Giốp-bê, bèn sai hai người đi mời người đến chớ chậm trễ.
39 Then Peter arose and went with them. When he had come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and showing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them.
Phi -e-rơ đứng dậy đi với hai người. Khi tới nơi, người ta dẫn Phi -e-rơ đến chỗ phòng cao; hết thảy các đờn bà góa đều đến cùng người mà khóc, và giơ cho người xem bao nhiêu áo xống và áo ngoài, lúc Ðô-ca còn sống ở với mình đã may cho.
40 But Peter put them all out, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.
Phi -e-rơ biểu người ta ra ngoài hết, rồi quì gối mà cầu nguyện; đoạn, xây lại với xác, mà rằng: Hỡi Ta-bi-tha, hãy chờ dậy! Người mở mắt, thấy Phi -e-rơ, bèn ngồi dậy liền.
41 And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive.
Phi -e-rơ đưa tay ra đỡ cho đứng dậy; đoạn gọi các thánh đồ và đờn bà góa đến, cho họ thấy người sống.
42 And it was known throughout all Joppa; and many believed in the Lord.
Việc đó đồn ra khắp thành Giốp-bê; nên có nhiều người tin theo Chúa.
43 And it came to pass, that he tarried many days in Joppa with one Simon a tanner.
Còn Phi -e-rơ ở tại nhà người thợ thuộc da, tên là Si-môn.
