< Acts 15 >

1 And certain men who came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.
yihUdAdEzAt kiyantO janA Agatya bhrAtRgaNamitthaM zikSitavantO mUsAvyavasthayA yadi yuSmAkaM tvakchEdO na bhavati tarhi yUyaM paritrANaM prAptuM na zakSyatha|
2 When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain others of them, should go to Jerusalem to the apostles and elders about this question.
paulabarNabbau taiH saha bahUn vicArAn vivAdAMzca kRtavantau, tatO maNPalIyanOkA EtasyAH kathAyAstattvaM jnjAtuM yirUzAlamnagarasthAn prEritAn prAcInAMzca prati paulabarNabbAprabhRtIn katipayajanAn prESayituM nizcayaM kRtavantaH|
3 And being brought on their way by the church, they passed through Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy to all the brethren.
tE maNPalyA prEritAH santaH phaiNIkIzOmirOndEzAbhyAM gatvA bhinnadEzIyAnAM manaHparivarttanasya vArttayA bhrAtRNAM paramAhlAdam ajanayan|
4 And when they had come to Jerusalem, they were received by the church, and by the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them.
yirUzAlamyupasthAya prEritagaNEna lOkaprAcInagaNEna samAjEna ca samupagRhItAH santaH svairIzvarO yAni karmmANi kRtavAn tESAM sarvvavRttAntAn tESAM samakSam akathayan|
5 But there rose certain of the sect of the Pharisees who believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.
kintu vizvAsinaH kiyantaH phirUzimatagrAhiNO lOkA utthAya kathAmEtAM kathitavantO bhinnadEzIyAnAM tvakchEdaM karttuM mUsAvyavasthAM pAlayitunjca samAdESTavyam|
6 And the apostles and elders came together to consider of this matter.
tataH prEritA lOkaprAcInAzca tasya vivEcanAM karttuM sabhAyAM sthitavantaH|
7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose, and said to them, Men, brethren, ye know that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.
bahuvicArESu jAtaSu pitara utthAya kathitavAn, hE bhrAtarO yathA bhinnadEzIyalOkA mama mukhAt susaMvAdaM zrutvA vizvasanti tadarthaM bahudinAt pUrvvam IzvarOsmAkaM madhyE mAM vRtvA niyuktavAn|
8 And God, who knoweth the hearts, bore them witness, giving to them the Holy Spirit, even as he did to us;
antaryyAmIzvarO yathAsmabhyaM tathA bhinnadEzIyEbhyaH pavitramAtmAnaM pradAya vizvAsEna tESAm antaHkaraNAni pavitrANi kRtvA
9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
tESAm asmAkanjca madhyE kimapi vizESaM na sthApayitvA tAnadhi svayaM pramANaM dattavAn iti yUyaM jAnItha|
10 Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
ataEvAsmAkaM pUrvvapuruSA vayanjca svayaM yadyugasya bhAraM sOPhuM na zaktAH samprati taM ziSyagaNasya skandhESu nyasituM kuta Izvarasya parIkSAM kariSyatha?
11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.
prabhO ryIzukhrISTasyAnugrahENa tE yathA vayamapi tathA paritrANaM prAptum AzAM kurmmaH|
12 Then all the multitude kept silence, and hearkened to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought by them among the Gentiles.
anantaraM barNabbApaulAbhyAm IzvarO bhinnadEzIyAnAM madhyE yadyad Azcaryyam adbhutanjca karmma kRtavAn tadvRttAntaM tau svamukhAbhyAm avarNayatAM sabhAsthAH sarvvE nIravAH santaH zrutavantaH|
13 And after they held their peace, James answered, saying, Men, brethren, hearken to me:
tayOH kathAyAM samAptAyAM satyAM yAkUb kathayitum ArabdhavAn
14 Simeon hath declared how God at the first visited the Gentiles, to take from among them a people for his name.
hE bhrAtarO mama kathAyAm manO nidhatta| IzvaraH svanAmArthaM bhinnadEzIyalOkAnAm madhyAd EkaM lOkasaMghaM grahItuM matiM kRtvA yEna prakArENa prathamaM tAn prati kRpAvalEkanaM kRtavAn taM zimOn varNitavAn|
15 And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,
bhaviSyadvAdibhiruktAni yAni vAkyAni taiH sArddham EtasyaikyaM bhavati yathA likhitamAstE|
16 After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again its ruins, and I will set it up:
sarvvESAM karmmaNAM yastu sAdhakaH paramEzvaraH| sa EvEdaM vadEdvAkyaM zESAH sakalamAnavAH| bhinnadEzIyalOkAzca yAvantO mama nAmataH| bhavanti hi suvikhyAtAstE yathA paramEzituH|
17 That the rest of men may seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.
tatvaM samyak samIhantE tannimittamahaM kila| parAvRtya samAgatya dAyUdaH patitaM punaH| dUSyamutthApayiSyAmi tadIyaM sarvvavastu ca| patitaM punaruthApya sajjayiSyAmi sarvvathA||
18 Known to God are all his works from the beginning of the world. (aiōn g165)
A prathamAd IzvaraH svIyAni sarvvakarmmANi jAnAti| (aiōn g165)
19 Therefore my judgment is, that we trouble not them, who from among the Gentiles are turned to God:
ataEva mama nivEdanamidaM bhinnadEzIyalOkAnAM madhyE yE janA IzvaraM prati parAvarttanta tESAmupari anyaM kamapi bhAraM na nyasya
20 But that we write to them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from immorality, and from things strangled, and from blood.
dEvatAprasAdAzucibhakSyaM vyabhicArakarmma kaNThasampIPanamAritaprANibhakSyaM raktabhakSyanjca EtAni parityaktuM likhAmaH|
21 For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath.
yataH pUrvvakAlatO mUsAvyavasthApracAriNO lOkA nagarE nagarE santi prativizrAmavAranjca bhajanabhavanE tasyAH pAThO bhavati|
22 Then it pleased the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas, and Silas, chief men among the brethren:
tataH paraM prEritagaNO lOkaprAcInagaNaH sarvvA maNPalI ca svESAM madhyE barzabbA nAmnA vikhyAtO manOnItau kRtvA paulabarNabbAbhyAM sArddham AntiyakhiyAnagaraM prati prESaNam ucitaM buddhvA tAbhyAM patraM praiSayan|
23 And they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting to the brethren who are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia:
tasmin patrE likhitamiMda, AntiyakhiyA-suriyA-kilikiyAdEzasthabhinnadEzIyabhrAtRgaNAya prEritagaNasya lOkaprAcInagaNasya bhrAtRgaNasya ca namaskAraH|
24 Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain who went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:
vizESatO'smAkam AjnjAm aprApyApi kiyantO janA asmAkaM madhyAd gatvA tvakchEdO mUsAvyavasthA ca pAlayitavyAviti yuSmAn zikSayitvA yuSmAkaM manasAmasthairyyaM kRtvA yuSmAn sasandEhAn akurvvan EtAM kathAM vayam azRnma|
25 It seemed good to us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,
tatkAraNAd vayam EkamantraNAH santaH sabhAyAM sthitvA prabhO ryIzukhrISTasya nAmanimittaM mRtyumukhagatAbhyAmasmAkaM
26 Men that have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
priyabarNabbApaulAbhyAM sArddhaM manOnItalOkAnAM kESAnjcid yuSmAkaM sannidhau prESaNam ucitaM buddhavantaH|
27 We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you the same things by mouth.
atO yihUdAsIlau yuSmAn prati prESitavantaH, EtayO rmukhAbhyAM sarvvAM kathAM jnjAsyatha|
28 For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;
dEvatAprasAdabhakSyaM raktabhakSyaM galapIPanamAritaprANibhakSyaM vyabhicArakarmma cEmAni sarvvANi yuSmAbhistyAjyAni; EtatprayOjanIyAjnjAvyatirEkEna yuSmAkam upari bhAramanyaM na nyasituM pavitrasyAtmanO'smAkanjca ucitajnjAnam abhavat|
29 That ye abstain from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from immorality: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.
ataEva tEbhyaH sarvvEbhyaH svESu rakSitESu yUyaM bhadraM karmma kariSyatha| yuSmAkaM maggalaM bhUyAt|
30 So when they were dismissed, they came to Antioch: and when they had gathered the multitude together, they delivered the epistle:
tE visRSTAH santa AntiyakhiyAnagara upasthAya lOkanivahaM saMgRhya patram adadan|
31 Which when they had read, they rejoiced for the consolation.
tatastE tatpatraM paThitvA sAntvanAM prApya sAnandA abhavan|
32 And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed them.
yihUdAsIlau ca svayaM pracArakau bhUtvA bhrAtRgaNaM nAnOpadizya tAn susthirAn akurutAm|
33 And after they had tarried there a time, they were sent away in peace from the brethren to the apostles.
itthaM tau tatra taiH sAkaM katipayadinAni yApayitvA pazcAt prEritAnAM samIpE pratyAgamanArthaM tESAM sannidhEH kalyANEna visRSTAvabhavatAM|
34 However it pleased Silas to abide there still.
kintu sIlastatra sthAtuM vAnjchitavAn|
35 Paul also and Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.
aparaM paulabarNabbau bahavaH ziSyAzca lOkAn upadizya prabhOH susaMvAdaM pracArayanta AntiyakhiyAyAM kAlaM yApitavantaH|
36 And some days after Paul said to Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they do.
katipayadinESu gatESu paulO barNabbAm avadat AgacchAvAM yESu nagarESvIzvarasya susaMvAdaM pracAritavantau tAni sarvvanagarANi punargatvA bhrAtaraH kIdRzAH santIti draSTuM tAn sAkSAt kurvvaH|
37 And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark.
tEna mArkanAmnA vikhyAtaM yOhanaM sagginaM karttuM barNabbA matimakarOt,
38 But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.
kintu sa pUrvvaM tAbhyAM saha kAryyArthaM na gatvA pAmphUliyAdEzE tau tyaktavAn tatkAraNAt paulastaM sagginaM karttum anucitaM jnjAtavAn|
39 And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed to Cyprus;
itthaM tayOratizayavirOdhasyOpasthitatvAt tau parasparaM pRthagabhavatAM tatO barNabbA mArkaM gRhItvA pOtEna kuprOpadvIpaM gatavAn;
40 And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being commended by the brethren to the grace of God.
kintu paulaH sIlaM manOnItaM kRtvA bhrAtRbhirIzvarAnugrahE samarpitaH san prasthAya
41 And he went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the churches.
suriyAkilikiyAdEzAbhyAM maNPalIH sthirIkurvvan agacchat|
