Acts 14

1 And it came to pass in Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spoke, that a great multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed.

E aconteceu em Icônio, que entraram juntos na sinagoga dos judeus, e falaram de tal maneira que creu uma grande multidão, tanto de judeus como de gregos.

2 But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected against the brethren.

Mas os judeus incrédulos incitaram e irritaram os ânimos dos gentios contra os irmãos.

3 A long time therefore they abode speaking boldly in the Lord, who gave testimony to the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

Então eles ficaram [ali] por muito tempo, falando ousadamente no Senhor, o qual dava testemunho à palavra de sua graça, concedendo [que] sinais e milagres fossem feitos pelas mãos deles.

4 But the multitude of the city was divided: and part held with the Jews, and part with the apostles.

E a multidão da cidade se dividiu; e uns eram a favor dos judeus, e outros a favor dos apóstolos.

5 And when there was an assault made both of the Gentiles, and also of the Jews with their rulers, to use them despitefully, and to stone them,

E fazendo-se uma rebelião, tanto de judeus como de gentios, juntos com seus líderes, para falarem mal deles, e os apedrejarem.

6 Being aware of it, they fled to Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and to the surrounding region:

E eles, sabendo [disto], fugiram para as cidades da Licaônia, [chamadas] Listra e Derbe; e à região ao redor.

7 And there they preached the gospel.

E ali eles anunciavam ao Evangelho.

8 And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother’s womb, who had never walked:

E um certo homem em Listra estava sentado, tendo incapacidade nos pés, aleijado desde o ventre de sua mãe, que nunca tinha andado.

9 The same heard Paul speak: who steadfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,

Este ouviu Paulo falando; o qual, olhando com atenção, e vendo que ele tinha fé para ser curado,

10 Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.

Disse em alta voz: Levanta-te direito sobre teus pés. E ele saltou e andou.

11 And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods have come down to us in the likeness of men.

E as multidões, vendo o que Paulo tinha feito, levantaram suas vozes, dizendo em [língua] licaônica: Os deuses se fizeram semelhantes a homens, e desceram até nós.

12 And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercury, because he was the chief speaker.

E chamaram a Barnabé de Júpiter; e a Paulo, de Mercúrio; porque este era o líder ao falar.

13 Then the priest of Jupiter, who was before their city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates, and would have done sacrifice with the people.

E o sacerdote de Júpiter, que estava diante da cidade deles, trazendo touros e grinaldas à entrada da porta, ele, junto com as companhias, queria oferecer sacrifício [a eles].

14 Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they tore their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out,

Mas os apóstolos Barnabé e Paulo, ao ouvirem [isto], rasgaram suas roupas, e saltaram entre a multidão, clamando,

15 And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach to you that ye should turn from these vanities to the living God, who made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are in them:

E dizendo: Homens, por que fazeis estais coisas? Também nós somos homens como vós, sujeitos às mesmas emoções; e vos anunciamos o Evangelho para que vos convertais destas vaidades para o Deus vivo, que fez o céu, a terra, o mar, e tudo quanto neles há.

16 Who in times past allowed all nations to walk in their own ways.

O qual nas gerações passadas deixou os os gentios andarem seus [próprios] caminhos.

17 Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.

Ainda que, contudo, não tenha deixado a si mesmo sem testemunho, fazendo o bem desde o céu, dando-nos chuvas, e tempos frutíferos, [e] enchendo nossos corações de alimento e alegria.

18 And with these sayings they scarce restrained the people, from doing sacrifice to them.

E tendo disto isto, apenas detiveram as multidões de que não fizessem sacrifícios a eles.

19 And there came there certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and, having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing him to be dead.

Mas vieram [alguns] judeus de Antioquia, e de Icônio, e persuadiram a multidão; e apedrejando a Paulo, arrastaram [-no] para fora da cidade, pensando que ele estivesse morto.

20 But, as the disciples stood around him, he rose, and came into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.

Mas, tendo os discípulos ficado ao seu redor, ele se levantou, e entrou na cidade; e no dia seguinte saiu com Barnabé para Derbe.

21 And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and to Antioch,

E tendo anunciado o Evangelho àquela cidade, e feito muitos discípulos, eles voltaram a Listra, e a Icônio, e a Antioquia,

22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

Confirmando os ânimos dos discípulos, e exortando-os para que permanecessem na fé, e que nos é necessário entrar no Reino de Deus por meio de muitas aflições.

23 And when they had ordained for them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.

E tendo escolhido por votação anciãos para cada igreja, orando com jejuns, eles foram enviados ao Senhor, no qual tinham crido.

24 And after they had passed throughout Pisidia, they came to Pamphylia.

E tendo passado por Pisídia, vieram à Panfília.

25 And when they had preached the word in Perga, they went down into Attalia:

E tendo falado a palavra em Perges, desceram a Atália.

26 And from there sailed to Antioch, where they had been commended from to the grace of God for the work which they fulfilled.

E dali navegaram para Antioquia, onde tinham sido encomendados à graça de Deus para a obra que eles [já] tinham cumprido.

27 And when they had come, and had gathered the church together, they reported all that God had done with them, and that he had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.

E ao chegarem, e reunirem a igreja, relataram quão grandes coisas Deus tinha feito com eles; e como ele tinha aberto a porta da fé aos gentios.

28 And there they abode a long time with the disciples.

E eles ficaram ali não pouco tempo com os discípulos.
