2 Chronicles 30
1 And Hezekiah sent to all Israel and Judah, and wrote letters also to Ephraim and Manasseh, that they should come to the house of the LORD at Jerusalem, to keep the passover to the LORD God of Israel.
Et Ézéchias envoya dans tout Israël et Juda et adressa aussi des rescrits à Éphraïm et Manassé pour qu'ils vinssent au Temple de l'Éternel à Jérusalem faire une Pâque à l'Éternel, Dieu d'Israël.
2 For the king had taken counsel, and his princes, and all the congregation in Jerusalem, to keep the passover in the second month.
Et le roi et ses princes et toute l'Assemblée de Jérusalem furent d'avis de faire la Pâque au second mois.
3 For they could not keep it at that time, because the priests had not sanctified themselves sufficiently, neither had the people gathered themselves together at Jerusalem.
Car ils ne pouvaient la faire à ce moment, les Prêtres ne s'étant pas encore mis en état de sainteté en nombre suffisant, et la nation n'étant pas réunie dans Jérusalem.
4 And the thing pleased the king and all the congregation.
Et l'avis eut l'agrément du roi et de toute l'Assemblée.
5 So they established a decree to make proclamation throughout all Israel, from Beersheba even to Dan, that they should come to keep the passover to the LORD God of Israel at Jerusalem: for they had not done it of a long time in the manner as it was written.
Et ils statuèrent qu'on ferait publier dans tout Israël, de Béerséba à Dan, qu'on eût à venir faire une Pâque à l'Éternel, Dieu d'Israël, à Jérusalem, car ils ne l'avaient pas célébrée en nombre conformément à l'Écriture.
6 So the posts went with the letters from the king and his princes throughout all Israel and Judah, and according to the commandment of the king, saying, Ye children of Israel, turn again to the LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, and he will return to the remnant of you, that have escaped from the hand of the kings of Assyria.
Et les coureurs allèrent avec les rescrits émanant du roi et de ses princes dans tout Israël et Juda, et d'après l'ordre du roi ils dirent: Enfants d'Israël, revenez à l'Éternel, Dieu d'Abraham, d'Isaac et d'Israël, afin qu'il revienne à votre reste échappé aux mains des rois d'Assyrie.
7 And be not ye like your fathers, and like your brethren, who trespassed against the LORD God of their fathers, who therefore gave them up to desolation, as ye see.
Et n'imitez pas vos pères et vos frères qui ont été infidèles à l'Éternel, Dieu de leurs pères, et qu'il a livrés à la désolation, comme vous le voyez!
8 Now be ye not stiffnecked, as your fathers were, but yield yourselves to the LORD, and enter into his sanctuary, which he hath sanctified for ever: and serve the LORD your God, that the fierceness of his wrath may turn away from you.
Maintenant ne roidissez pas votre col comme vos pères, donnez la main à l'Éternel et venez à son Sanctuaire qu'il a sanctifié pour l'éternité, et soumettez-vous à l'Éternel, votre Dieu, pour que se détourne de vous l'ardeur de sa colère.
9 For if ye turn again to the LORD, your brethren and your children shall find compassion before them that lead them captive, so that they shall return into this land: for the LORD your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if ye return to him.
Car si vous revenez à l'Éternel, vos frères et vos fils seront l'objet de la compassion de leurs ravisseurs, et pourront revenir dans ce pays; car l'Éternel, votre Dieu, est clément et miséricordieux, et Il ne détournera pas son visage de vous, si vous vous retournez vers Lui.
10 So the posts passed from city to city through the country of Ephraim and Manasseh even to Zebulun: but they laughed them to scorn, and mocked them.
Et les coureurs passèrent de ville en ville dans le pays d'Ephraïm et de Manassé et jusqu'à Zabulon; mais l'on se rit d'eux et l'on se moqua d'eux.
11 Nevertheless some from Asher and Manasseh and of Zebulun humbled themselves, and came to Jerusalem.
Cependant il y eut des hommes de Asser et de Manassé et de Zabulon qui s'humilièrent et vinrent à Jérusalem.
12 Also in Judah the hand of God was to give them one heart to do the commandment of the king and of the princes, by the word of the LORD.
Juda aussi sentit la main de Dieu qui leur donna un même cœur pour exécuter l'ordre du roi et des princes conforme à la parole de l'Éternel.
13 And there assembled at Jerusalem many people to keep the feast of unleavened bread in the second month, a very great congregation.
Et il se réunit à Jérusalem un peuple nombreux pour faire la fête des azymes au second mois, assemblée immense.
14 And they arose and took away the altars that were in Jerusalem, and all the altars for incense they took away, and cast them into the brook Kidron.
Et ils se mirent en devoir de faire disparaître les autels qui étaient dans Jérusalem, et toutes les tables à encenser, et ils les jetèrent dans le torrent du Cédron.
15 Then they killed the passover on the fourteenth day of the second month: and the priests and the Levites were ashamed, and sanctified themselves, and brought in the burnt offerings into the house of the LORD.
Et ils immolèrent la Pâque le quatorzième jour du second mois; et les Prêtres et les Lévites avaient eu honte, et s'étaient mis en état de sainteté, et ils offrirent des holocaustes dans le Temple de l'Éternel.
16 And they stood in their place after their custom, according to the law of Moses the man of God: the priests sprinkled the blood, which they received from the hand of the Levites.
Et ils se tenaient à leur poste, suivant leur règle, d'après la Loi de Moïse, homme de Dieu, les Prêtres faisant l'aspersion du sang qu'ils recevaient des mains des Lévites.
17 For there were many in the congregation that were not sanctified: therefore the Levites had the charge of the killing of the passovers for every one that was not clean, to sanctify them to the LORD.
Comme il y avait beaucoup de gens dans l'Assemblée qui ne s'étaient pas mis en état de sainteté, les Lévites se chargèrent d'immoler les agneaux de Pâque pour tous ceux qui n'étaient pas purs, et ils les consacraient à l'Éternel.
18 For a multitude of the people, even many of Ephraim, and Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet they ate the passover otherwise than it was written. But Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, The good LORD pardon every one
En effet, une grande quantité de gens d'Éphraïm et de Manassé et d'Issaschar et de Zabulon ne s'étaient pas purifiés, mais mangeaient la Pâque contrairement à l'Écriture. Mais Ézéchias avait intercédé pour eux par cette prière: Que l'Éternel, le Dieu bon, pardonne
19 That prepareth his heart to seek God, the LORD God of his fathers, though he is not cleansed according to the purification of the sanctuary.
à tous ceux qui ont dirigé leur cœur à la recherche du Dieu, l'Éternel, Dieu de leurs pères, sans avoir toutefois pratiqué la sainte purification.
20 And the LORD hearkened to Hezekiah, and healed the people.
Et l'Éternel exauça Ézéchias et pardonna au peuple.
21 And the children of Israel that were present at Jerusalem kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with great gladness: and the Levites and the priests praised the LORD day by day, singing with loud instruments to the LORD.
Ainsi fut célébrée par les enfants d'Israël présents à Jérusalem la fête des azymes pendant sept jours en grande allégresse, et chaque jour les Lévites et les Prêtres louaient l'Éternel avec les instruments de la louange de l'Éternel.
22 And Hezekiah encouraged all the Levites that taught the good knowledge of the LORD: and they ate throughout the feast seven days, offering peace offerings, and making confession to the LORD God of their fathers.
Et Ézéchias adressa des encouragements à tous les Lévites qui se montraient habiles dans la belle science [du culte] de l'Éternel, et ils mangèrent l'aliment festal pendant sept jours, en offrant des sacrifices pacifiques et louant l'Éternel, Dieu de leurs pères.
23 And the whole assembly took counsel to keep other seven days: and they kept other seven days with gladness.
Et toute l'Assemblée fut d'avis de fêter sept autres jours, et ils fêtèrent [encore] sept jours dans la joie.
24 For Hezekiah king of Judah gave to the congregation a thousand bulls and seven thousand sheep; and the princes gave to the congregation a thousand bulls and ten thousand sheep: and a great number of priests sanctified themselves.
Car Ézéchias, roi de Juda, offrit à l'Assemblée mille taureaux et sept mille moutons, et les princes offrirent à l'Assemblée mille taureaux et dix mille moutons; et les Prêtres en masse s'étaient mis en état de sainteté.
25 And all the congregation of Judah, with the priests and the Levites, and all the congregation that came out of Israel, and the strangers that came from the land of Israel, and that dwelt in Judah, rejoiced.
Et toute l'Assemblée de Juda et les Prêtres et les Lévites et toute l'Assemblée venue d'Israël et les étrangers venus du pays d'Israël ou établis en Juda, se réjouirent.
26 So there was great joy in Jerusalem: for since the time of Solomon the son of David king of Israel there was not the like in Jerusalem.
Et il y eut grande réjouissance à Jérusalem, car depuis l'époque de Salomon, fils de David, roi d'Israël, il n'y avait rien eu de pareil à Jérusalem.
27 Then the priests the Levites arose and blessed the people: and their voice was heard, and their prayer ascended to his holy dwelling place, even to heaven.
Et les Prêtres et les Lévites se levèrent et bénirent le peuple, et leur voix fut écoutée et leur prière parvint à Sa résidence sainte dans les Cieux.
