2 Chronicles 11
1 And when Rehoboam had come to Jerusalem, he gathered of the house of Judah and Benjamin an hundred and eighty thousand chosen men, who were warriors, to fight against Israel, that he might bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam.
Rehavam Yeruşalim'e varınca, İsrailliler'le savaşıp onları yeniden egemenliği altına almak amacıyla Yahuda ve Benyamin oymaklarından yüz seksen bin seçkin savaşçı topladı.
2 But the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,
Bu arada RAB, Tanrı adamı Şemaya'ya şöyle seslendi:
3 Speak to Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying,
“Süleyman oğlu Yahuda Kralı Rehavam'a, Yahuda ve Benyamin bölgesinde yaşayan bütün İsrailliler'e şunu söyle:
4 Thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren: return every man to his house: for this thing is done by me. And they obeyed the words of the LORD, and returned from going against Jeroboam.
‘RAB diyor ki, İsrailli kardeşlerinize saldırmayın, onlarla savaşmayın. Herkes evine dönsün! Çünkü bu olayı ben düzenledim.’” RAB'bin bu sözlerini duyan halk Yarovam'a karşı savaşmaktan vazgeçti.
5 And Rehoboam dwelt in Jerusalem, and built cities for defence in Judah.
Rehavam Yeruşalim'de yaşadı ve savunma amacıyla Yahuda'daki şu kentleri onardı:
6 He built even Bethlehem, and Etam, and Tekoa,
Beytlehem, Etam, Tekoa,
7 And Bethzur, and Shoco, and Adullam,
Beytsur, Soko, Adullam,
8 And Gath, and Mareshah, and Ziph,
Gat, Mareşa, Zif,
9 And Adoraim, and Lachish, and Azekah,
Adorayim, Lakiş, Azeka,
10 And Zorah, and Aijalon, and Hebron, which are in Judah and in Benjamin fortified cities.
Sora, Ayalon, Hevron. Bunlar Yahuda ve Benyamin bölgesinde surlu kentlerdi.
11 And he fortified the strong holds, and put captains in them, and store of food, and of oil and wine.
Rehavam bu kentlerin surlarını güçlendirerek buralara komutanlar atadı; yiyecek, zeytinyağı, şarap depoladı.
12 And in every single city he put shields and spears, and made them very strong, having Judah and Benjamin on his side.
Her kent için kalkanlar, mızraklar sağladı. Kentleri iyice güçlendirdi. Böylece Yahuda ve Benyamin bölgeleri onun denetimi altında kaldı.
13 And the priests and the Levites that were in all Israel resorted to him from all their land.
İsrail'in her bölgesinden kâhinlerle Levililer Rehavam'dan yana geçtiler.
14 For the Levites left their common lands and their possession, and came to Judah and Jerusalem: for Jeroboam and his sons had cast them off from executing the priest’s office to the LORD:
Levililer otlaklarını, mallarını bırakıp Yahuda ve Yeruşalim'e gelmişlerdi. Çünkü Yarovam'la oğulları onları RAB'bin kâhinliğinden uzaklaştırmıştı.
15 And he appointed him priests for the high places, and for the demons, and for the calves which he had made.
Yarovam tapınma yerleri ve yaptırdığı teke ve buzağı biçimindeki putlar için kâhinler atamıştı.
16 And after them out of all the tribes of Israel such as set their hearts to seek the LORD God of Israel came to Jerusalem, to sacrifice to the LORD God of their fathers.
İsrail'in her oymağından RAB'be, İsrail'in Tanrısı'na yönelmeye yürekten kararlı olanlar ise, atalarının Tanrısı RAB'be kurban sunmak için kâhinlerle Levililer'in ardından Yeruşalim'e geldiler.
17 So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and made Rehoboam the son of Solomon strong, three years: for three years they walked in the way of David and Solomon.
Üç yıl Davut'la Süleyman'ın izinde yürüyen bu kişiler, Süleyman oğlu Rehavam'ı destekleyerek Yahuda Krallığı'nı güçlendirdiler.
18 And Rehoboam took to himself Mahalath the daughter of Jerimoth the son of David for a wife, and Abihail the daughter of Eliab the son of Jesse;
Rehavam Davut oğlu Yerimot'un kızı Mahalat'la evlendi. Mahalat'ın annesi Avihayil, İşay oğlu Eliav'ın kızıydı.
19 Who bore him children; Jeush, and Shamariah, and Zaham.
Mahalat Rehavam'a şu oğulları doğurdu: Yeuş, Şemarya, Zaham.
20 And after her he took Maachah the daughter of Absalom; who bore him Abijah, and Attai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.
Rehavam Mahalat'tan sonra Avşalom'un kızı Maaka ile evlendi. Maaka ona Aviya'yı, Attay'ı, Ziza'yı, Şelomit'i doğurdu.
21 And Rehoboam loved Maachah the daughter of Absalom above all his wives and his concubines: (for he took eighteen wives, and sixty concubines; and begat twenty and eight sons, and sixty daughters.)
Rehavam Avşalom'un kızı Maaka'yı öbür eşleriyle cariyelerinin hepsinden daha çok severdi. Rehavam'ın on sekiz karısı, altmış cariyesi vardı. Bunlardan yirmi sekiz erkek, altmış kız çocuğu oldu.
22 And Rehoboam made Abijah the son of Maachah the chief, to be ruler among his brethren: for he thought to make him king.
Rehavam Maaka'dan doğan Aviya'yı kral yapmak amacıyla onu kardeşleri arasında önder ve tahta geçecek aday atadı.
23 And he dealt wisely, and distributed of all his children throughout all the countries of Judah and Benjamin, to every fortified city: and he gave them food in abundance. And he desired many wives.
Bilgece davranarak oğullarının bazılarını Yahuda ve Benyamin topraklarına, surlu kentlere dağıttı. Onlara bol yiyecek sağladı ve birçok kadınla evlendirdi.
