< 1 Samuel 15 >

1 Samuel also said to Saul, The LORD sent me to anoint thee to be king over his people, over Israel: now therefore hearken thou to the voice of the words of the LORD.
Samuel nowachone ne Saulo niya, “An ema Jehova Nyasaye noora mondo awiri ibed ruodh joge Israel; omiyo koro lingʼ iwinj wach moa kuom Jehova Nyasaye.
2 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt.
Ma e gima Jehova Nyasaye Maratego wacho: ‘Abiro kumo jo-Amalek kuom gima negitimo ni jo-Israel kaka ne gigengʼonegi e kinde mane gia Misri.
3 Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.
Koro dhiyo imonj jo-Amalek kendo itiek gimoro amora ma mekgi. Kik iwegi; neg chwo gi mon, gi rowere gi nyithindo madhoth, dhok, rombe, ngamia gi punde.’”
4 And Saul gathered the people together, and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand footmen, and ten thousand men of Judah.
Omiyo Saulo noluongo joge Telaim mokwanogi kendo negiromo jolweny alufu mia ariyo mawuotho gi tiendegi to gi alufu apar moa Juda.
5 And Saul came to a city of Amalek, and laid wait in the valley.
Saulo nodhi e dala maduongʼ mar jo-Amalek koikore monjogi e holo.
6 And Saul said to the Kenites, Go, depart, withdraw yourselves from among the Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them: for ye showed kindness to all the children of Israel, when they came up from Egypt. So the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites.
Eka nowachone jo-Keni niya, “Auru ka udhi mondo uwe jo-Amalek nikech ok adwar tiekou kodgi; nikech un ne utimo ngʼwono ni jo-Israel e kinde mane gia Misri.” Omiyo jo-Keni nowuok moweyo jo-Amalek.
7 And Saul smote the Amalekites from Havilah until thou comest to Shur, that is east of Egypt.
Eka Saulo nokedo gi jo-Amalek kochakore Havila nyaka ochopo Shur to nyaka ochopo yo wuok chiengʼ mar Misri.
8 And he took Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword.
Nomako Agag ruoth jo-Amalek kangima to joge duto to nonego gi ligangla pep.
9 But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them: but every thing that was vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly.
To Saulo gi jolweny noweyo Agag kod rombe mabeyo, gi dhok, gi nyiroye machwe gi nyirombe kod gimoro amora maber. Magi to ne ok giyie mondo oketh duto, to gimoro amora mane gichayo gi mago mayom yom to negitieko pep.
10 Then came the word of the LORD to Samuel, saying,
Eka wach Jehova Nyasaye nobiro ne Samuel kawacho niya,
11 I repent that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried to the LORD all night.
“Akuyo nikech ne aketo Saulo obedo ruoth, nikech oseweyo luwa, kendo ok otimo kaka ne achike.” Samuel nochandore kendo noywak ne Jehova Nyasaye otieno mangima.
12 And when Samuel rose early to meet Saul in the morning, it was told Samuel, saying, Saul came to Carmel, and, behold, he set him up a place, and hast gone about, and passed on, and gone down to Gilgal.
Samuel nochiew okinyi mangʼich kendo nodhi romo gi Saulo, mi nowachne niya, “Saulo osedhi Karmel. Kanyo osechungoe rapar mimiyego duongʼ kuno kendo osewuok kuno olor kodhi Gilgal.”
13 And Samuel came to Saul: and Saul said to him, Blessed be thou of the LORD: I have performed the commandment of the LORD.
Kane Samuel obiro ire, Saulo nowachone niya, “Mad Jehova Nyasaye gwedhi! Asetimo duto mane Jehova Nyasaye ochika.”
14 And Samuel said, What meaneth then this bleating of the sheep in my ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?
To Samuel nowachone niya, “Marangʼo awinjo ywak rombe gi dhok e ita?”
15 And Saul said, They have brought them from the Amalekites: for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen, to sacrifice to the LORD thy God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed.
Saulo nodwoko niya, “Jolweny nokelogi koa kuom jo-Amalek; negiweyo rombe kod dhok mabeyo mondo gitimgo misango ni Jehova Nyasaye ma Nyasachi, to modongʼ wanego pep.”
16 Then Samuel said to Saul, Stay, and I will tell thee what the LORD hath said to me this night. And he said to him, Say on.
Samuel nowachone Saulo niya, “Lingʼ thi! We mondo anyisi gima Jehova Nyasaye nowachona otieno mokalo.” Saulo nodwoko niya, “Nyisawa.”
17 And Samuel said, When thou wast little in thy own sight, wast thou not made the head of the tribes of Israel, and the LORD anointed thee king over Israel?
Samuel nowachone niya, “Kata nobedo ni inenori ka ngʼama tin kamano, to donge ne ibedo jatelo mar dhout Israel? Jehova Nyasaye ne owiri mondo ibed ruodh Israel.
18 And the LORD sent thee on a journey, and said, Go and utterly destroy the sinners the Amalekites, and fight against them until they are consumed.
Kendo ne omiyi ote, kowacho ni, ‘Dhiyo mondo itiek chuth jo-Amalek marichogi; ked kodgi nyaka ine ni itiekogi pep.’
19 Why then didst thou not obey the voice of the LORD, but didst fly upon the spoil, and didst evil in the sight of the LORD?
Angʼo momiyo ne ok iwinjo dwond Jehova Nyasaye? Angʼo momiyo ne imuomori mi iyeko kendo itimo richo e wangʼ Jehova Nyasaye?”
20 And Saul said to Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the voice of the LORD, and have gone the way which the LORD sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites.
Saulo nowacho niya, “To ne awinjo dwond Jehova Nyasaye ma atimo dwarone kendo atimo tich mane omiya mondo atim. Ne anego jo-Amalek pep kendo ne akawo Agag ruodhgi mi abirogo.
21 But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice to the LORD thy God in Gilgal.
Jolweny nokawo rombe gi dhok kuom gik moyaki, gigo mabeyo nowal ne Nyasaye mondo otimnego Jehova Nyasaye ma Nyasachi misango Gilgal.”
22 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
Samuel nodwoke niya, “Iparo ni Jehova Nyasaye mor gi chiwo kod misengini miwangʼo pep moloyo winjo dwonde? Winjo wach ber moloyo chiwo misango kendo chiko it ber moloyo boche imbe,
23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
nimar ngʼanyo chal gi richo mar jwok, to tok teko chalo gi richo mar lamo nyiseche manono. Nikech isedagi wach Jehova Nyasaye En bende osedagi ni kik ibed ruoth.”
24 And Saul said to Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.
Eka Saulo nowachone Samuel niya. “Asetimo richo. Asetamora luwo chik Jehova Nyasaye kod wecheni bende. Ne aluoro ji kendo ne atimo dwarogi.
25 Now therefore, I pray thee, pardon my sin, and turn again with me, that I may worship the LORD.
Koro sani asayi ni iwena richona kendo wadog kodi mondo mi alam Jehova Nyasaye.”
26 And Samuel said to Saul, I will not return with thee: for thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, and the LORD hath rejected thee from being king over Israel.
To Samuel nowachone niya, “Ok anyal dok kodi. Isedagi luwo wach Jehova Nyasaye, kuom mano Jehova Nyasaye bende osedagi ni kik ibed ruodh Israel!”
27 And as Samuel turned about to depart, he laid hold upon the skirt of his mantle, and it tore.
Kane Samuel ochako wuoth mondo odhi, Saulo nomako riak lawe, mi oyiech.
28 And Samuel said to him, The LORD hath torn the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbour of thine, that is better than thou.
Samuel nowachone niya, “Jehova Nyasaye oseyiecho pinyruodh Israel kogole kuomi kawuononi kendo osemiye ja-libambau moro maber moloyi.
29 And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent: for he is not a man, that he should repent.
Jalno ma en Jehova Nyasaye Maduongʼ mar Israel ok riambi bende ok olok pache; nimar ok en dhano mondo olok pache.”
30 Then he said, I have sinned: yet honour me now, I pray thee, before the elders of my people, and before Israel, and turn again with me, that I may worship the LORD thy God.
Saulo nodwoko niya, “Asetimo richo. To kiyie to miya luor e nyim jodong joga kendo e nyim jo-Israel; dog koda mondo mi alam Jehova Nyasaye ma Nyasachi.”
31 So Samuel turned again after Saul; and Saul worshipped the LORD.
Omiyo Samuel nodok gi Saulo, kendo Saulo nolamo Jehova Nyasaye.
32 Then said Samuel, Bring ye here to me Agag the king of the Amalekites. And Agag came to him cheerfully. And Agag said, Surely the bitterness of death is past.
Eka Samuel nowacho niya, “Kelna Agag ruodh jo-Amalek.” Omiyo Agag nobiro ire ka en gi chir koparo e chunye niya, “Lit mar tho osekadho.”
33 And Samuel said, As thy sword hath made women childless, so shall thy mother be childless among women. And Samuel hewed Agag in pieces before the LORD in Gilgal.
To Samuel nowacho niya, “Kaka liganglani osemiyo mon owe maonge nyithindo, e kaka minu nobed maonge nyathi e kind mon mamoko.” Eka Samuel nonego Agag e nyim Jehova Nyasaye, Gilgal.
34 Then Samuel went to Ramah; and Saul went up to his house to Gibeah of Saul.
Eka Samuel nowuok modhi Rama, to Saulo bende nodok dalane Gibea.
35 And Samuel came no more to see Saul until the day of his death: nevertheless Samuel mourned for Saul: and the LORD repented that he had made Saul king over Israel.
Nyaka chop odiechiengʼ mane Samuel othoe, ne ok ochako oneno Saulo kendo, kata obedo ni Samuel ne oywage kamano. Jehova Nyasaye ne okuyo nikech ne oketo Saulo obedo ruodh Israel.
