1 Samuel 13
1 Saul reigned one year; and when he had reigned two years over Israel,
Egyéves volt Sául uralmában – két évig uralkodott Izrael fölött –
2 Saul chose for himself three thousand men of Israel; of which two thousand were with Saul in Michmash and in mount Bethel, and a thousand were with Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin: and the rest of the people he sent every man to his tent.
akkor kiválasztott magának Sául háromezret Izraelből, és voltak Sáulnál kétezren Mikhmásban és Bét-Él hegyén, és ezren voltak Jónátánnál a Benjáminbeli Gibeában; a többi népet pedig elbocsátotta, kit-kit sátraihoz.
3 And Jonathan smote the garrison of the Philistines that was in Geba, and the Philistines heard of it. And Saul blew the trumpet throughout all the land, saying, Let the Hebrews hear.
És megverte Jónátán a filiszteusok őrsét, mely Gébában volt, és meghallották a filiszteusok; Sául pedig megfúvatta a harsonát az egész országban, mondván: Hadd hallják a héberek!
4 And all Israel heard it said that Saul had smitten a garrison of the Philistines, and that Israel also was held in abomination with the Philistines. And the people were called together after Saul to Gilgal.
Egész Izrael pedig hallotta, hogy mondták: megverte Sául a filiszteusok őrsét, meg rossz hírbe is keveredett Izrael a filiszteusoknál; ekkor összegyűlt a nép Sául után Gilgálba.
5 And the Philistines gathered themselves together to fight with Israel, thirty thousand chariots, and six thousand horsemen, and people as the sand which is on the sea shore in multitude: and they came up, and encamped in Michmash, eastward from Bethaven.
És a filiszteusok gyülekeztek, hogy harcoljanak Izraellel: harmincezer szekér és hatezer lovas meg népség annyi mint a fövény, mely a tenger partján van, sokaságra; fölvonultak és táboroztak Mikhmásban, Bét-Áventől keletre.
6 When the men of Israel saw that they were hedged in, (for the people were distressed, ) then the people hid themselves in caves, and in thickets, and in rocks, and in high places, and in pits.
Izrael emberei pedig látták, hogy megszorultak, mert elnyomatott a nép, akkor elrejtőzött a nép a barlangokban és bokrokban és sziklákban, az odvakban és a gödrökben;
7 And some of the Hebrews went over Jordan to the land of Gad and Gilead. As for Saul, he was yet in Gilgal, and all the people followed him trembling.
a Jordánon is átkeltek a héberek Gád országába és Gileádba. Sául pedig még Gilgálban volt és az egész nép sietett volt utána.
8 And he tarried seven days, according to the set time that Samuel had appointed: but Samuel came not to Gilgal; and the people were scattered from him.
Várakozott hét napig, a meghatározott időre, melyet mondott Sámuel, de nem jött Sámuel Gilgálba, és elszéledt mellőle a nép.
9 And Saul said, Bring here a burnt offering to me, and peace offerings. And he offered the burnt offering.
Ekkor mondta Sául: Hozzátok ide hozzám az égőáldozatot és a békeáldozatokat; és bemutatta az égőáldozatot.
10 And it came to pass, that as soon as he had finished offering the burnt offering, behold, Samuel came; and Saul went out to meet him, that he might bless him.
Volt pedig, amint végzett azzal, hogy bemutassa az égőáldozatot, íme Sámuel megjött; és kiment Sául elé, hogy megáldja.
11 And Samuel said, What hast thou done? And Saul said, Because I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that thou camest not within the days appointed, and that the Philistines gathered themselves together at Michmash;
És mondta Sámuel: Mit cselekedtél? Mondta Sául: Mivel láttam, hogy elszéledt tőlem a nép, te meg nem jöttél a meghatározott napokon belül, a filiszteusok pedig gyülekeznek Mikhmásba;
12 Therefore said I, The Philistines will now come down upon me to Gilgal, and I have not made supplication to the LORD: I forced myself therefore, and offered a burnt offering.
mondtam tehát most majd lejönnek ellenem a filiszteusok Gilgálba, holott az Örökkévalóhoz nem könyörögtem volt; erőt vettem tehát magamon és bemutattam az égőáldozatot.
13 And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandment of the LORD thy God, which he commanded thee: for now would the LORD have established thy kingdom upon Israel for ever.
És szólt Sámuel Sáulhoz: Balgának bizonyultál! Nem őrizted meg az Örökkévalónak, Istenednek parancsolatát, melyet neked parancsolt. Bizony, most megszilárdította volna az Örökkévaló királyságodat Izrael fölött mindörökre.
14 But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee.
Most pedig királyságod nem fog megállni; keresett valakit az Örökkévaló magának szíve szerint és fejedelemnek rendelte őt az Örökkévaló népe fölé, mert nem őrizted meg azt, amit neked parancsolt az Örökkévaló.
15 And Samuel arose, and went up from Gilgal to Gibeah of Benjamin. And Saul numbered the people that were present with him, about six hundred men.
Fölkelt Sámuel és fölment Gilgálból a Benjáminbeli Gibeába. Megszámlálta. Sául a nála meglevő népet: mintegy hatszáz embert.
16 And Saul, and Jonathan his son, and the people that were present with them, abode in Gibeah of Benjamin: but the Philistines encamped in Michmash.
Sául pedig és fia Jónátán meg a velük meglevő nép maradtak a Benjáminbeli Gébában; a filiszteusok meg táboroztak Mikhmásban.
17 And the spoilers came out of the camp of the Philistines in three companies: one company turned to the way that leadeth to Ophrah, to the land of Shual:
És kivonult a pusztító had a filiszteusok táborából három csapatban: az egyik csapat fordult Ofra felé Súál vidékére;
18 And another company turned the way to Bethhoron: and another company turned to the way of the border that looketh to the valley of Zeboim toward the wilderness.
a másik csapat fordult Bét-Chórón felé, és a harmadik csapat fordult azon határ felé, mely a Czebóím völgyére tekint a pusztának.
19 Now there was no smith found throughout all the land of Israel: for the Philistines said, Lest the Hebrews make them swords or spears:
Kovács pedig nem találtatott Izrael egész országában, mert azt mondták volt a filiszteusok nehogy készítsenek a héberek kardot vagy dárdát.
20 But all the Israelites went down to the Philistines, to sharpen every man his share, and his coulter, and his axe, and his mattock.
Így lement egész Izrael a filiszteusokhoz, hogy megköszörülje ki-ki az ő ekevasát, kapáját, fejszéjét és ásóját.
21 And there was a charge of a third of a shekel for the mattocks, and for the coulters, and for the forks, and for the axes, and to sharpen the goads.
Vagy szolgált a sokélű reszelő az ásóknál, a kapáknál, a hármas villáknál és a fejszéknél, meg ösztöke beigazításánál.
22 So it came to pass in the day of battle, that there was neither sword nor spear found in the hand of any of the people that were with Saul and Jonathan: but with Saul and with Jonathan his son was there found.
Volt tehát harc napján, nem találtatott kard és dárda az egész nép kezében, mely Sáullal és Jónátánnak volt; de találtatott Sáulnál és fiánál, Jónátánnál.
23 And the garrison of the Philistines went out to the pass of Michmash.
És kivonult a filiszteusok őrse Mikhmás szorosához.
