1 Peter 5
1 The elders who are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
Starejšine med vami opominjam, sostarejšina in priča trpljenj Kristusovih, deležnik tudi slave, ki se ima razodeti:
2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight of it, not by constraint, but willingly; not for dishonest gain, but from a ready mind;
Pasite čedo Božjo med vami, nadzorujoč ne po sili, nego prostovoljno; tudi ne za grd dobiček, nego radovoljno,
3 Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being examples to the flock.
Tudi ne kakor gospodovalci dedščin, nego kakor zgledi postavši čede;
4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
In ko se bode prikazal višji pastir, dobili bodete nevenljivi venec slave.
5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves to the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
Enako, mlajši, pokorni bodite starejšim; vsi pa pokorni si med seboj, privežite si ponižnost; ker "Bog se ustavlja prevzetnim, ponižnim pa daje milost."
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
Ponižajte se tedaj pod mogočno roko Božjo, da vas poviša ob času;
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
Vso skrb svojo vrzite nanj, ker on skrbi za vas.
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
Trezni bodite, čujte, ker nasprotnik vaš, hudič, kakor lev rujoveč hodi okrog in išče koga bi pogoltnil.
9 Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
Njemu se ustavljajte, trdni v veri, vedoč, da ista trpljenja prenaša bratovščina vaša na svetu.
10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us to his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you. (aiōnios g166)
Bog pa vse milosti, kateri nas je poklical v večno slavo svojo v Kristusu Jezusu, po kratkem trpljenji pripravi vas sam, utrdi, pokrepčaj, ustanóvi! (aiōnios g166)
Njemu slava in moč na vekov veke! Amen. (aiōn g165)
12 By Silvanus, a faithful brother to you, as I suppose, I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God in which ye stand.
Po Silvanu sem vam, zvestem bratu, kakor sodim, na kratko pisal, opominjajoč in pričajoč, da je tá prava milost Božja, v kateri stojite.
13 The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, greeteth you; and so doth Mark my son.
Pozdravlja vas izvoljena v Babilonu, in Marko sin moj.
14 Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen.
Pozdravljajte se med seboj v poljubu ljubezni. Mir vam vsem v Kristusu Jezusu! Amen.
