1 Kings 5
1 And Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants to Solomon; for he had heard that they had anointed him king in the stead of his father: for Hiram was ever a lover of David.
Hiram rey de Tiro envió también sus siervos a Salomón; desde que oyó que le habían ungido por rey en lugar de su padre; porque Hiram había siempre amado a David.
2 And Solomon sent to Hiram, saying,
Entonces envió Salomón a Hiram, diciendo:
3 Thou knowest how that David my father could not build an house to the name of the LORD his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until the LORD put them under the soles of his feet.
Tú sabes como mi padre David no pudo edificar casa al nombre de Jehová su Dios por las guerras que le cercaron, hasta que Jehová puso sus enemigos debajo de las plantas de sus pies.
4 But now the LORD my God hath given me rest on every side, so that there is neither adversary nor evil occurrent.
Ahora Jehová mi Dios me ha dado reposo de todas partes; que ni hay adversario, ni mal encuentro.
5 And, behold, I purpose to build an house to the name of the LORD my God, as the LORD spoke to David my father, saying, Thy son, whom I will set upon thy throne in thy stead, he shall build an house to my name.
Por tanto ahora yo he determinado de edificar casa al nombre de Jehová mi Dios, como Jehová lo dijo a David mi padre, diciendo: Tu hijo, que yo pondré en tu lugar, en tu trono, él edificará casa a mi nombre.
6 Now therefore command thou that they hew me cedar trees out of Lebanon; and my servants shall be with thy servants: and to thee will I give hire for thy servants according to all that thou shalt appoint: for thou knowest that there is not among us any that hast skill to hew timber like the Sidonians.
Manda pues ahora que me corten cedros del Líbano: y mis siervos estarán con los tuyos; y yo te daré por tus siervos el salario que tú dijeres: porque tú sabes bien que ninguno hay entre nosotros que sepa labrar la madera como los Sidonios.
7 And it came to pass, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly, and said, Blessed be the LORD this day, who hath given to David a wise son over this great people.
Y como Hiram oyó las palabras de Salomón, holgóse en gran manera, y dijo: Bendito sea hoy Jehová, que dio hijo sabio a David sobre este pueblo tan grande.
8 And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, I have considered the things which thou sentest to me for: and I will perform all thy desire concerning timber of cedar, and concerning timber of fir.
Y envió Hiram a Salomón, diciendo: Yo he oído lo que me enviaste a decir: Yo haré todo lo que te pluguiere acerca de la madera de cedro, y la madera de haya.
9 My servants shall bring them down from Lebanon to the sea: and I will convey them by sea in floats to the place that thou shalt appoint me, and will cause them to be discharged there, and thou shalt receive them: and thou shalt accomplish my desire, in giving food for my household.
Mis siervos la llevarán desde el Líbano a la mar; y yo la pondré en balsas por la mar hasta el lugar, que tú me señalares; y allí se desatará, y tú la tomaras, y tú también harás mi voluntad, dando de comer a mi familia.
10 So Hiram gave Solomon cedar trees and fir trees according to all his desire.
Y dio Hiram a Salomón madera de cedro, y madera de haya, todo lo que quiso:
11 And Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat for food to his household, and twenty measures of pure oil: thus gave Solomon to Hiram year by year.
Y Salomón daba a Hiram veinte mil coros de trigo para el sustento de su familia, y veinte coros de aceite limpio. Esto daba Salomón a Hiram cada un año.
12 And the LORD gave Solomon wisdom, as he promised him: and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon; and they two made a league together.
Dio pues Jehová a Salomón sabiduría, como le había dicho: y hubo paz entre Hiram y Salomón: e hicieron alianza entre ambos.
13 And king Solomon raised forced labour out of all Israel; and the levy was thirty thousand men.
E impuso el rey Salomón tributo a todo Israel, y el tributo fue treinta mil hombres:
14 And he sent them to Lebanon, ten thousand a month by courses: a month they were in Lebanon, and two months at home: and Adoniram was over the forced labour.
Los cuales enviaba al Líbano de diez mil en diez mil cada mes por sus veces: y como habían estado un mes en el Líbano, estábanse dos meses en sus casas: y Adoniram estaba sobre el tributo.
15 And Solomon had seventy thousand that bore burdens, and eighty thousand hewers in the mountains;
Tenía también Salomón setenta mil, que llevaban las cargas: y ochenta mil cortadores en el monte;
16 Besides the chief of Solomon’s officers who were over the work, three thousand and three hundred, who ruled over the people that wrought in the work.
Sin los principales gobernadores de Salomón que estaban puestos sobre la obra, que eran tres mil y trescientos, los cuales tenían cargo del pueblo que hacía la obra.
17 And the king commanded, and they brought great stones, costly stones, and hewed stones, to lay the foundation of the house.
Y mandó el rey que trajesen grandes piedras, piedras de precio para los cimientos de la casa, y piedras labradas:
18 And Solomon’s builders and Hiram’s builders did hew them, and the stonesquarers: so they prepared timber and stones to build the house.
Y los albañiles de Salomón, y los de Hiram, y los aparejadores cortaron y aparejaron la madera y la cantería para labrar la casa.
