1 Kings 22
1 And they continued three years without war between Syria and Israel.
૧અરામ તથા ઇઝરાયલની વચ્ચે યુદ્ધ ના થયું હોય એ ત્રણ વર્ષનો ગાળો વીતી ગયો.
2 And it came to pass in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the king of Israel.
૨પછી ત્રીજે વર્ષે એમ બન્યું કે યહૂદિયાનો રાજા યહોશાફાટ ઇઝરાયલના રાજાની પાસે ગયો.
3 And the king of Israel said to his servants, Know ye that Ramoth in Gilead is ours, and we are still, and take it not out of the hand of the king of Syria?
૩હવે ઇઝરાયલના રાજાએ પોતાના ચાકરોને કહ્યું, “શું તમે જાણો છો કે રામોથ ગિલ્યાદ આપણું છે? પણ આપણે છાનામાના બેસી રહ્યા છીએ અને અરામના રાજાના હાથમાંથી તે લઈ લેતા નથી.”
4 And he said to Jehoshaphat, Wilt thou go with me to battle to Ramothgilead? And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, I am as thou art, my people as thy people, my horses as thy horses.
૪તેથી તેણે યહોશાફાટને કહ્યું, “શું તમે યુદ્ધમાં મારી સાથે રામોથ ગિલ્યાદ પર હુમલો કરવા આવશો?” યહોશાફાટે ઇઝરાયલના રાજાને જવાબ આપ્યો, “તારા જેવો જ હું છું, જેવા તારા લોકો તેવા મારા લોકો અને જેવા તારા ઘોડેસવારો તેવા મારા ઘોડેસવારો છે.”
5 And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD to day.
૫યહોશાફાટે ઇઝરાયલના રાજાને કહ્યું, “આમાં યહોવાહની શી ઇચ્છા છે તે કૃપા કરીને આજ પૂછી જુઓ.”
6 Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said to them, Shall I go against Ramothgilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for the Lord shall deliver it into the hand of the king.
૬પછી ઇઝરાયલના રાજાએ પ્રબોધકોમાંના આશરે ચારસો માણસોને ભેગા કરીને તેમને પૂછ્યું, “શું હું યુદ્ધ કરવા માટે રામોથ ગિલ્યાદ પર ચઢાઈ કરું કે ના કરું?” તેઓએ કહ્યું, “હુમલો કરો, કેમ કે પ્રભુ તે સ્થળને રાજાના હાથમાં સોંપશે.”
7 And Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we may enquire of him?
૭પણ યહોશાફાટે કહ્યું, “શું આ સિવાય યહોવાહનો કોઈ પ્રબોધક અહીં નથી કે આપણે તેને સલાહ પૂછી જોઈએ?”
8 And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.
૮ઇઝરાયલના રાજાએ યહોશાફાટને કહ્યું, “ત્યાં હજી એક પ્રબોધક બાકી છે કે, જેની મારફતે આપણે યહોવાહની સલાહ પૂછી જોઈએ. તે તો ઈમલાહનો દીકરો મિખાયા છે, પણ હું તેને ધિક્કારું છું, કેમ કે તે મારે વિષે સારું નહિ, પણ ખોટું ભવિષ્ય કહે છે.” પણ યહોશાફાટે કહ્યું, “રાજાએ એવું ન બોલવું જોઈએ.”
9 Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, Hasten here Micaiah the son of Imlah.
૯પછી ઇઝરાયલના રાજાએ એક આગેવાનને બોલાવીને આજ્ઞા કરી કે, “ઈમલાહના દીકરા મિખાયાને હમણાં જ લઈ આવ.”
10 And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah sat each on his throne, having put on their robes, in a threshingfloor at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.
૧૦હવે ઇઝરાયલનો રાજા તથા યહૂદિયાનો રાજા યહોશાફાટ સમરુનના દરવાજાના આગળ ખુલ્લાં મેદાનમાં રાજ્યપોષાક પહેરીને પોતપોતાના રાજ્યાસન પર બેઠા હતા. સર્વ પ્રબોધકો તેમની આગળ પ્રબોધ કરતા હતા.
11 And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made him horns of iron: and he said, Thus saith the LORD, With these shalt thou push the Syrians, until thou hast consumed them.
૧૧કેનાહના દીકરા સિદકિયાએ પોતાને માટે લોખંડના શિંગડાં બનાવીને કહ્યું, “યહોવાહ આમ કહે છે, ‘અરામીઓનો નાશ થતાં સુધી તું આ વડે તેઓને નસાડી મૂકશે.’
12 And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramothgilead, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the king’s hand.
૧૨અને સર્વ પ્રબોધકોએ એવો જ પ્રબોધ કર્યો, “રામોથ ગિલ્યાદ પર હુમલો કરીને વિજય પ્રાપ્ત કરો, કેમ કે યહોવાહ તેને રાજાના હાથમાં સોંપશે.”
13 And the messenger that went to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets declare good to the king with one mouth: let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of one of them, and speak that which is good.
૧૩જે સંદેશવાહક મિખાયાને બોલાવવા ગયો હતો, તેણે મિખાયાને કહ્યું, “હવે જો, પ્રબોધકોની વાણી સર્વાનુમતે રાજાને માટે સારું ભવિષ્ય કહે છે. કૃપા કરીને તારું વચન પણ તેઓમાંના એકના વચન જેવું હોય અને તું પણ એવું જ હિતવચન ઉચ્ચારજે.”
14 And Micaiah said, As the LORD liveth, what the LORD saith to me, that will I speak.
૧૪મિખાયાએ જવાબ આપ્યો, “જીવતા યહોવાહના સમ કે મને તો યહોવાહ જે કહેશે, તે જ હું બોલીશ.”
15 So he came to the king. And the king said to him, Micaiah, shall we go against Ramothgilead to battle, or shall we forbear? And he answered him, Go, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the hand of the king.
૧૫જયારે તે રાજાની પાસે આવ્યો, ત્યારે રાજાએ તેને કહ્યું, “મિખાયા, શું અમે રામોથ ગિલ્યાદ પર ચઢાઈ કરીએ કે, ના કરીએ?” મિખાયાએ જવાબ આપ્યો, “હુમલો કરો અને વિજય પામો. યહોવાહ તેને રાજાના હાથમાં સોંપશે.”
16 And the king said to him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou tell me nothing but that which is true in the name of the LORD?
૧૬પછી રાજાએ તેને કહ્યું, “હું કેટલી વાર તને સોગન આપું કે, તારે મને યહોવાહને નામે સત્ય વગર બીજું કંઈ કહેવું નહિ?”
17 And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the hills, as sheep that have not a shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master: let them return every man to his house in peace.
૧૭તેથી મિખાયાએ કહ્યું, “મેં સર્વ ઇઝરાયલને પાળક વગરનાં ઘેટાંની જેમ પર્વતો ઉપર વિખેરાઈ ગયેલા જોયા અને યહોવાહે કહ્યું, ‘એમનો કોઈ રક્ષક નથી. તેઓ દરેક પોતપોતાને ઘરે શાંતિએ પાછા જાય.’”
18 And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would prophesy no good concerning me, but evil?
૧૮તેથી ઇઝરાયલના રાજાએ યહોશાફાટને કહ્યું, “શું મેં તને નહોતું કહ્યું કે, એ મારા વિષે સારું નહિ, પણ માઠું જ બોલશે?”
19 And he said, Hear thou therefore the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left.
૧૯પછી મિખાયાએ કહ્યું, “એ માટે તમે યહોવાહની વાત સાંભળો: મેં યહોવાહને તેમના સિંહાસન પર બેઠેલા અને આકાશનું સર્વ સૈન્ય તેમને જમણે તથા ડાબે હાથે તેમની પાસે ઊભેલું જોયું.
20 And the LORD said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramothgilead? And one said in this manner, and another said in that manner.
૨૦યહોવાહે કહ્યું, ‘કોણ આહાબને લલચાવે કે જેથી તે રામોથ ગિલ્યાદ પર ચઢાઈ કરે અને ત્યાં માર્યો જાય?’ ત્યારે એક જણે આમ કહ્યું અને બીજાએ બીજો જવાબ આપ્યો.
21 And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will persuade him.
૨૧પછી આત્માએ આગળ આવીને યહોવાહની સમક્ષ ઊભા રહીને કહ્યું, ‘હું તેને લલચાવીશ.’ યહોવાહે તેને કહ્યું, ‘કેવી રીતે?’
22 And the LORD said to him, How? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so.
૨૨આત્માએ જવાબ આપ્યો, ‘હું અહીંથી જઈને તેના સર્વ પ્રબોધકોના મુખમાં પેસીને જૂઠું બોલનાર આત્મા થઈશ.’ યહોવાહે જવાબ આપ્યો, ‘તું તેને લલચાવીશ અને સફળ પણ થઈશ. હવે જા અને એ પ્રમાણે કર.’
23 Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee.
૨૩હવે જો, યહોવાહે આ તમારા સર્વ પ્રબોધકોના મુખમાં જૂઠું બોલનાર આત્મા મૂક્યો છે અને યહોવાહે તમારું અહિત ઉચ્ચાર્યું છે.”
24 But Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near, and smote Micaiah on the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of the LORD from me to speak to thee?
૨૪પછી કેનાહના દીકરા સિદકિયાએ પાસે આવીને મિખાયાના ગાલ પર તમાચો મારીને કહ્યું, “યહોવાહનો આત્મા તારી સાથે બોલવા માટે મારી પાસેથી કયે માર્ગે થઈને ગયો?”
25 And Micaiah said, Behold, thou shalt see in that day, when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide thyself.
૨૫મિખાયાએ કહ્યું, “જો, જે દિવસે તું સંતાવા માટે અંદરની ઓરડીમાં ભરાઈ જશે, તે દિવસે તે તું જોશે.”
26 And the king of Israel said, Take Micaiah, and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king’s son;
૨૬ઇઝરાયલના રાજાએ કહ્યું, “મિખાયાને પકડીને તેને નગરના આગેવાન આમોનની પાસે તથા મારા દીકરા યોઆશની પાસે લઈ જાઓ.
27 And say, Thus saith the king, Put this man in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace.
૨૭તેને કહો, ‘રાજા એમ કહે છે, આ માણસને જેલમાં પૂરો અને હું સહિસલામત પાછો આવું ત્યાં સુધી થોડી રોટલી તથા પાણીથી તેનું પોષણ કરજો.’
28 And Micaiah said, If thou shalt return at all in peace, the LORD hath not spoken by me. And he said, Hearken, O people, each one of you.
૨૮પછી મિખાયાએ કહ્યું, “જો તું સુરક્ષિત પાછો આવે, તો યહોવાહ મારી મારફતે બોલ્યા નથી એમ સમજવું.” અને વળી તેણે કહ્યું, “હે સર્વ લોકો તમે આ સર્વ સાંભળો.”
29 So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramothgilead.
૨૯પછી ઇઝરાયલના રાજા આહાબે અને યહૂદિયાના રાજા યહોશાફાટે રામોથ ગિલ્યાદ પર ચઢાઈ કરી.
30 And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and enter into the battle; but put thou on thy robes. And the king of Israel disguised himself, and went into the battle.
૩૦ઇઝરાયલના રાજાએ યહોશાફાટને કહ્યું, “હું મારો પોષાક બદલીને યુદ્ધમાં જઈશ, પણ તું તારો રાજપોષાક પહેરી રાખ.” તેથી ઇઝરાયલનો રાજા પોતાનો પોષાક બદલીને યુદ્ધમાં ગયો.
31 But the king of Syria commanded his thirty and two captains that had rule over his chariots, saying, Fight neither with small nor great, except only with the king of Israel.
૩૧હવે અરામના રાજાએ પોતાના બત્રીસ રથાધિપતિઓને આજ્ઞા કરી હતી, “માત્ર ઇઝરાયલના રાજા સિવાય કોઈપણ નાના કે મોટાની સાથે લડશો નહિ.”
32 And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, Surely this is the king of Israel. And they turned aside to fight against him: and Jehoshaphat cried out.
૩૨જયારે રથાધિપતિઓએ યહોશાફાટને જોયો ત્યારે તેઓએ કહ્યું, “ચોક્કસ આ ઇઝરાયલનો રાજા છે.” તેથી તેઓ તેના પર હુમલો કરવા વળ્યા, તેથી યહોશાફાટે જોરથી બૂમ પાડી.
33 And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots perceived that he was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.
૩૩અને એમ થયું કે જયારે રથાધિપતિઓએ જોયું કે આ ઇઝરાયલનો રાજા નથી ત્યારે તેઓએ તેનો પીછો કરવાનું છોડી દીધું.
34 And a certain man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the joints of his armour: therefore he said to the driver of his chariot, Turn thy hand, and carry me out of the host; for I am wounded.
૩૪પરંતુ એક સૈનિકે તીર છોડ્યું. એ તીર ઇઝરાયલના રાજાને તેના બખ્તરના સાંધાની વચ્ચે થઈને વાગ્યું. તેથી આહાબે પોતાના સારથિને કહ્યું, “રથ ફેરવીને મને યુદ્ધભૂમિની બહાર લઈ જા. કેમ કે મને કારમો ઘા વાગ્યો છે.”
35 And the battle increased that day: and the king was held up in his chariot against the Syrians, and died at evening: and the blood ran out of the wound into the inside of the chariot.
૩૫તે દિવસે દારુણ યુદ્ધ મચ્યું અને રાજાને તેના રથમાં અરામીઓ તરફ મોં રહે તે રીતે બેસાડી રાખવામાં આવ્યો હતો, તેના ઘામાંથી લોહી વહીને રથને તળિયે ગયું અને સાંજ થતાં તે મૃત્યુ પામ્યો.
36 And there went a proclamation throughout the host about the setting of the sun, saying, Every man to his city, and every man to his own country.
૩૬પછી દિવસને અંતે સૂર્યાસ્ત થતાં જ રાજાની લશ્કરી છાવણીમાં એક મોટો પોકાર થયો, “દરેક જણ પોતપોતાના નગરમાં અને પોતપોતાના દેશમાં જાઓ!”
37 So the king died, and was brought to Samaria; and they buried the king in Samaria.
૩૭રાજાના મૃતદેહને સમરુનમાં લાવવામાં આવ્યો અને ત્યાં તેને દફનાવવામાં આવ્યો.
38 And one washed the chariot in the pool of Samaria; and the dogs licked up his blood; and they washed his armour; according to the word of the LORD which he spoke.
૩૮સમરુનના તળાવને કિનારે જ્યાં ગણિકાઓ સ્નાન કરવા આવતી હતી રથ ધોયો અને યહોવાહનો વચન પ્રમાણે કૂતરાંઓએ તેનું લોહી ચાટ્યું.
39 Now the rest of the acts of Ahab, and all that he did, and the ivory house which he made, and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
૩૯આહાબનાં બાકીનાં કાર્યો, તેણે જે સર્વ કર્યું, તથા તેણે બંધાવેલા હાથીદાંતનો મહેલ તેમ જ તેણે જે જે નગરો બાંધ્યા તે સર્વ ઇઝરાયલના રાજાઓના ઇતિહાસના પુસ્તકમાં લખેલા નથી શું?
40 So Ahab slept with his fathers; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.
૪૦આમ, આહાબ તેના પિતૃઓ સાથે ઊંઘી ગયો અને તેના પછી તેનો પુત્ર અહાઝયાહ રાજા બન્યો.
41 And Jehoshaphat the son of Asa began to reign over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.
૪૧ઇઝરાયલના રાજા આહાબના ચોથા વર્ષે આસાનો પુત્ર યહોશાફાટ યહૂદિયા પર રાજ કરવા લાગ્યો.
42 Jehoshaphat was thirty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.
૪૨જયારે યહોશાફાટ રાજા બન્યો, ત્યારે તેની ઉંમર પાંત્રીસ વર્ષની હતી. તેણે યરુશાલેમમાં પચ્ચીસ વર્ષ સુધી રાજય કર્યું. તે શિલ્હીની પુત્રી અઝૂબાહનો દીકરો હતો.
43 And he walked in all the ways of Asa his father; he turned not aside from it, doing that which was right in the eyes of the LORD: nevertheless the high places were not taken away; for the people offered and burnt incense yet in the high places.
૪૩તે તેના પિતા આસાને પગલે ચાલ્યો અને તેમાંથી ચલિત ન થતાં તેણે યહોવાહની દ્રષ્ટિમાં જે સારું હતું તે જ કર્યું. જોકે, ઉચ્ચસ્થાનો કાઢી નાખવામાં આવ્યાં નહોતાં. લોકો હજી તેમાં યજ્ઞ કરતા અને ધૂપ બાળતા હતા.
44 And Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel.
૪૪યહોશાફાટે ઇઝરાયલના રાજા સાથે સમાધાન કર્યું.
45 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, and his might that he showed, and how he warred, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
૪૫યહોશાફાટનાં બાકીનાં કાર્યો, તેણે જે પરાક્રમ બતાવ્યું તે અને કેવી રીતે તેણે યુદ્ધ કર્યું તે સર્વ યહૂદિયાના રાજાઓના ઇતિહાસના પુસ્તકમાં લખેલાં નથી શું?
46 And the remnant of the sodomites, which remained in the days of his father Asa, he removed from the land.
૪૬તેણે તેના પિતા આસાના દિવસોમાં બાકી રહેલા સજાતીય સંબંધો રાખનારા લોકોને દેશમાંથી દૂર કર્યા.
47 There was then no king in Edom: a deputy was king.
૪૭અદોમમાં કોઈ જ રાજા નહોતો, પણ અમલદાર રાજ ચલાવતો હતો.
48 Jehoshaphat made ships of Tharshish to go to Ophir for gold: but they went not; for the ships were broken at Eziongeber.
૪૮યહોશાફાટે તાર્શીશી વહાણ બનાવ્યાં; તેઓ સોના માટે ઓફીર જતાં હતાં, પણ તે ત્યાં પહોંચ્યા નહિ કેમ કે વહાણ એસ્યોન-ગેબેર પાસે તૂટી ગયાં હતાં.
49 Then said Ahaziah the son of Ahab to Jehoshaphat, Let my servants go with thy servants in the ships. But Jehoshaphat would not.
૪૯આહાબના દીકરા અહાઝયાહએ યહોશાફાટને કહ્યું, “મારા ચાકરોને તારા ચાકરો સાથે વહાણમાં જવા દે.” પણ યહોશાફાટે ના પાડી.
50 And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.
૫૦યહોશાફાટ તેના પિતૃઓ સાથે ઊંઘી ગયો અને તેને તેના પિતૃઓ સાથે દાઉદનગરમાં દફનાવવામાં આવ્યો. તેના પછી તેની જગ્યાએ તેનો પુત્ર યહોરામ રાજા બન્યો.
51 Ahaziah the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned two years over Israel.
૫૧યહૂદિયાના રાજા યહોશાફાટના સત્તરમા વર્ષે આહાબનો દીકરો અહાઝયાહ સમરુનમાં ઇઝરાયલ પર રાજ કરવા લાગ્યો અને તેણે ઇઝરાયલ પર બે વર્ષ રાજ કર્યું.
52 And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin:
૫૨તેણે યહોવાહની દ્રષ્ટિમાં જે ખરાબ હતું તે કર્યું, તે પોતાના પિતાના, પોતાની માતાના અને નબાટના દીકરા યરોબામ કે જેણે ઇઝરાયલ પાસે પાપ કરાવ્યું હતું તેના માર્ગે ચાલ્યો.
53 For he served Baal, and worshipped him, and provoked to anger the LORD God of Israel, according to all that his father had done.
૫૩તેણે તેના પિતાએ જે કર્યું હતું તે પ્રમાણે બઆલની પૂજા કરી અને ઇઝરાયલના ઈશ્વર યહોવાહને કોપાયમાન કર્યા.
