1 Chronicles 19
1 Now it came to pass after this, that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon died, and his son reigned in his stead.
Ug nahibato sa tapus niini, nga si Naas ang hari sa mga anak sa Ammon namatay, ug ang iyang anak nga lalake naghari ilis kaniya.
2 And David said, I will show kindness to Hanun the son of Nahash, because his father showed kindness to me. And David sent messengers to comfort him concerning his father. So the servants of David came into the land of the children of Ammon to Hanun, to comfort him.
Ug si David miingon: Ako magapakita ug kalolot kang Hanun ang anak nga lalake ni Naas, tungod kay ang iyang amahan nagpakitag kalolot kanako. Busa si David nagpaadto ug mga alagad aron sa paglipay kaniya mahitungod sa iyang amahan. Ug ang mga alagad ni David nanghiabut ngadto sa yuta sa mga anak sa Ammon ngadto kang Hanun sa paglipay kaniya.
3 But the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun, Thinkest thou that David doth honour thy father, that he hath sent comforters to thee? are not his servants come to thee to search, and to overthrow, and to spy out the land?
Apan ang mga principe sa mga anak sa Ammon nanag-ingon kang Hanun: Naghunahuna ba ikaw nga si David nagatahud sa imong amahan, nga siya nagpadala sa mga maglilipay kanimo? Ang iyang mga alagad wala ba moanhi kanimo aron sa pagsusi, ug sa paggun-ob, ug sa pagpaniid sa yuta?
4 Therefore Hanun took David’s servants, and shaved them, and cut off their garments in the middle, even to their buttocks, and sent them away.
Busa ang mga alagad ni David gidakup ni Hanun, ug gikiskisan sila, ug giputlan ang ilang mga sinina sa tungatunga, bisan hangtud sa ilang mga sampot, ug gipalakat sila.
5 Then there went certain, and told David how the men were served. And he sent to meet them: for the men were greatly ashamed. And the king said, Tarry at Jericho until your beards are grown, and then return.
Unya didto nangadto ang pipila ka tawo, ug nagsugilon kang David kong giunsa pagdawat ang mga tawo. Ug siya nagpaadto aron sa pagpakigkita kanila; tungod kay ang mga tawo nangaulaw sa hilabilan. Ug ang hari miingon: Pabilin kamo sa Jerico hangtud nga ang inyong mga bungot manag-as, ug unya bumalik kamo.
6 And when the children of Ammon saw that they had made themselves odious to David, Hanun and the children of Ammon sent a thousand talents of silver to hire them chariots and horsemen out of Mesopotamia, and out of Syriamaachah, and out of Zobah.
Ug sa diha nga ang mga anak sa Ammon nakakita nga sila nahimo sa ilang kaugalingon nga mga dulumtanan kang David, si Hanun ug ang mga anak sa Ammon nanagpadala ug usa ka libong talento nga salapi aron sa pag-abang alang kanila ug mga carro ug mga tawo nga magkakabayo gikan sa Mesopotamia, ug gikan sa Aramaaka; ug gikan sa Soba.
7 So they hired thirty and two thousand chariots, and the king of Maachah and his people; who came and encamped before Medeba. And the children of Ammon gathered themselves together from their cities, and came to battle.
Busa sila nag-abang alang kanila katloan ug duha ka libo nga carro, ug ang hari sa Maacha ug ang iyang katawohan, ming-anha ug mingpahaluna atbang sa Medaba. Ug ang mga anak sa Ammon nagtigum gikan sa ilang mga kalungsoran, ug ming-adto sa gubat.
8 And when David heard of it, he sent Joab, and all the host of the mighty men.
Ug sa diha nga si David nakadungog niana, iyang gipaadto si Joab, ug ang tanang panon sa mga gamhanang tawo.
9 And the children of Ammon came out, and put the battle in array before the gate of the city: and the kings that had come were by themselves in the field.
Ug ang mga anak sa Ammon minggula ug gipahaluna ang gubat sa ganghaan sa lungsod: ug ang mga hari nga nanghianha diha gayud usab sa kapatagan.
10 Now when Joab saw that the battle was set against him before and behind, he chose from all the best of Israel, and put them in array against the Syrians.
Karon sa diha nga si Joab nakakita nga ang gubat gipahimutang na batok kaniya sa atubangan ug sa luyo, siya mipili sa tanang pinili nga mga tawo sa Israel, ug gipahamutang sila batok sa mga Sirianhon.
11 And the rest of the people he delivered to the hand of Abishai his brother, and they set themselves in array against the children of Ammon.
Ug ang uban sa katawohan iyang gitugyan sa kamot ni Abisai nga iyang igsoon nga lalake ug sila nagpahaluna sa ilang kaugalingon batok sa mga anak sa Ammon.
12 And he said, If the Syrians shall be too strong for me, then thou shalt help me: but if the children of Ammon shall be too strong for thee, then I will help thee.
Ug siya miingon: Kong ang mga Sirianhon kusganon da alang kanako, nan tabangan mo ako; apan kong ang mga anak sa Ammon kusganon da alang kanimo, unya tabangan ko ikaw.
13 Be of good courage, and let us behave ourselves valiantly for our people, and for the cities of our God: and let the LORD do that which is good in his sight.
Magmaisugon ka, ug magpakalake kita alang sa atong katawohan, ug alang sa mga ciudad sa atong Dios; ug si Jehova magabuhat niadtong maayo kaniya.
14 So Joab and the people that were with him drew near before the Syrians to the battle; and they fled before him.
Busa si Joab ug ang katawohan nga didto uban kaniya mingpaduol sa atubangan sa mga Sirianhon ngadto sa gubat; ug sila nangalagiw gikan sa iyang atubangan.
15 And when the children of Ammon saw that the Syrians had fled, they likewise fled before Abishai his brother, and entered into the city. Then Joab came to Jerusalem.
Ug sa diha nga ang mga anak sa Ammon nakakita nga ang mga Sirianhon nangalagiw, sila usab sa maong paagi nanagpangalagiw gikan sa atubangan ni Abisai nga iyang igsoon nga lalake, ug mingsulod ngadto sa lungsod. Unya si Joab miadto sa Jerusalem.
16 And when the Syrians saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they sent messengers, and drew forth the Syrians that were beyond the river: and Shophach the captain of the host of Hadarezer went before them.
Ug sa diha nga ang mga Sirianhon nakakita nga sila nalisdan kaayo sa atubangan sa Israel, sila nagpaadto ug mga alagad, ug gikuha ang mga Sirianhon nga dinha sa unahan sa Suba, uban ni Sophach ang capitan sa panon ni Hadareser sa ilang ulohan.
17 And it was told to David; and he gathered all Israel, and passed over Jordan, and came upon them, and set the battle in array against them. So when David had put the battle in array against the Syrians, they fought with him.
Ug kini gisugilon kang David; ug iyang gitigum ang tibook Israel pagtingub, ug mitabok sa Jordan, ug miadto kanila, ug gipahamutang ang gubat batok kanila. Mao nga sa gipahamutang ni David ang gubat batok sa mga Sirianhon, sila nakig-away batok kaniya.
18 But the Syrians fled before Israel; and David slew of the Syrians seven thousand men who fought in chariots, and forty thousand footmen, and killed Shophach the captain of the host.
Ug ang mga Sirianhon nangalagiw gikan sa atubangan sa Israel; ug si David nagpatay gikan sa mga Sirianhon sa mga tawo sa pito ka libong carro, ug kap-atan ka libong tawo nga nagtiniil, ug nagpatay kang Sophach ang capitan sa panon.
19 And when the servants of Hadarezer saw that they were smote before Israel, they made peace with David, and became his servants: neither would the Syrians help the children of Ammon any more.
Ug sa diha nga ang mga alagad ni Hadareser nakakita nga sila nalisdan kaayo sa atubangan sa Israel, sila naghimo ug pakigdait uban kang David, ug ming-alagad kaniya: dili na gayud buot motabang pa ang mga Sirianhon sa mga anak sa Ammon.
