< Revelation 21 >

1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.
ⲁ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁⲓⲛⲁⲩ ⳿ⲉⲟⲩⲫⲉ ⳿ⲙⲃⲉⲣⲓ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩⲕⲁϩⲓ ⳿ⲙⲃⲉⲣⲓ ϯⲫⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ⳿ⲛϩⲟⲩⲓϯ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡⲓⲕⲁϩⲓ ⲁⲩϣⲉ ⲛⲱⲟⲩ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲛ ⲓⲟⲙ ϫⲉ.
2 I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, that came down out of heaven from God, prepared like a bride adorned for her husband.
ⲃ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁⲓⲛⲁⲩ ⳿ⲉϯⲃⲁⲕⲓ ⲉⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ ⳿ⲓⲗ̅ⲏ̅ⲙ̅ ⳿ⲙⲃⲉⲣⲓ ⲉⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⳿ⲉⲡⲉⲥⲏⲧ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲧⲫⲉ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⲫϯ ⲉⲥⲥⲉⲃⲧⲱⲧ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩϣⲉⲗⲉⲧ ⲉⲥⲥⲉⲗⲥⲱⲗ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲥϩⲁⲓ.
3 I heard a great voice from the throne saying, “Look! The dwelling place of God is with human beings, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and he will be their God.
ⲅ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁⲓⲥⲱⲧⲉⲙ ⳿ⲉⲟⲩⲛⲓϣϯ ⳿ⲛ⳿ⲥⲙⲏ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲧⲫⲉ ⲉⲥϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲓⲥ ϯ ⳿ⲥⲕⲩⲛⲏ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲫϯ ⲉⲥⲭⲏ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉϥ⳿ⲉϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲛⲉⲙⲱⲟⲩ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲛⲑⲱⲟⲩ ϩⲱⲟⲩ ⲉⲩ⳿ⲉϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲛⲁϥ ⳿ⲉⲟⲩⲗⲁⲟⲥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲛⲑⲟϥ ⲫϯ ⲉϥ⳿ⲉϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲛⲉⲙⲱⲟⲩ.
4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death, or grieving, or crying, or pain. The former things have passed away.
ⲇ̅ⲉϥ⳿ⲉϥⲉⲧ ⲉⲣⲙⲏ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲟⲩⲃⲁⲗ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲛⲛⲉ ⲙⲟⲩ ϣⲱⲡⲓ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ϩⲏⲃⲓ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⳿ϧⲣⲱⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲛⲉ ϧⲓⲥⲓ ϣⲱⲡⲓ ϫⲉ ⲉⲡⲓⲇⲏ ⲛⲓϩⲟⲩⲁϯ ⲁⲩⲥⲓⲛⲓ ϩⲏⲡⲡⲉ ⲥⲉⲛⲁⲉⲣⲃⲉⲣⲓ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ.
5 The one who was seated on the throne said, “Look! I make all things new.” He said, “Write this down because these words are trustworthy and true.”
ⲉ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲡⲉϫⲉ ⲫⲏⲉⲧϩⲉⲙⲥⲓ ϩⲓ ⲡⲓ⳿ⲑⲣⲟⲛⲟⲥ ⲛⲏⲓ ϫⲉ ϩⲏⲡⲡⲉ ϯⲛⲁⲁⲓⲧⲟⲩ ⳿ⲙⲃⲉⲣⲓ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲏⲓ ϫⲉ ⳿ⲥϧⲁⲓ ⳿ⲛⲛⲁⲓⲥⲁϫⲓ ⲥⲉ⳿ⲛϩⲟⲧ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ϩⲁⲛⲙⲉⲑⲙⲏⲓ ⲛⲉ.
6 He said to me, “These things are done! I am the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end. To the one who thirsts I will give drink without cost from the spring of the water of life.
ⲋ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲏⲓ ϫⲉ ⳿ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲓⲁⲗⲁⲫⲁ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡⲓⲱ ϯⲁⲣⲭⲏ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡⲓϫⲱⲕ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ ⲫⲏⲉⲑⲛⲁϯ ⳿ⲙⲫⲏⲉⲧⲟⲃⲓ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ϯⲙⲟⲩⲙⲓ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲱⲛϧ ⳿ⲛϫⲓⲛϫⲏ.
7 The one who conquers will inherit these things, and I will be his God, and he will be my son.
ⲍ̅ⲫⲏⲉⲑⲛⲁϭⲣⲟ ⲉϥ⳿ⲉⲉⲣ⳿ⲕⲗⲏⲣⲟⲛⲟⲙⲓⲛ ⳿ⲛⲛⲁⲓ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲓ⳿ⲉϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲛⲁϥ ⳿ⲛⲛⲟⲩϯ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲛⲑⲟϥ ⲉϥ⳿ⲉϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲛⲏⲓ ⳿ⲛϣⲏⲣⲓ.
8 But as for the cowards, the faithless, the detestable, the murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. That is the second death.” (Limnē Pyr g3041 g4442)
ⲏ̅ⲛⲏ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲑⲛⲁⲉⲣ⳿ϣⲗⲁϩ ⳿ⲛϩⲏⲧ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓⲁⲧⲛⲁϩϯ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓⲥⲁϥϩⲏⲧ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓⲣⲉϥϧⲱⲧⲉⲃ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓⲡⲟⲣⲛⲟⲥ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓϣⲁⲙϣⲉ ⲓϧ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓⲥⲁⲙⲉⲑⲛⲟⲩϫ ⲡⲟⲩⲙⲉⲣⲟⲥ ⲉϥ⳿ⲉϣⲱⲡⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ϯⲗⲩⲙⲛⲏ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲓ⳿ⲭⲣⲱⲙ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡⲓⲑⲏⲛ ⲉⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲙⲟⲩ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁϩⲃ̅ ⲡⲉ. (Limnē Pyr g3041 g4442)
9 One of the seven angels came to me, the one who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues, and he said, “Come here. I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.”
ⲑ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁϥ⳿ⲓ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲍ̅ ⳿ⲛⲁⲅⲅⲉⲗⲟⲥ ⲛⲏⲉⲧⲉ ϯⲍ̅ ⳿ⲙⲫⲩⲁⲗⲏ ⳿ⲛⲧⲟⲧⲟⲩ ⲉⲩⲙⲉϩ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲍ̅ ⳿ⲛⲉⲣϧⲟⲧ ⳿ⲛϧⲁ⳿ⲉ ⲁϥⲥⲁϫⲓ ⲛⲉⲙⲏⲓ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲁⲙⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲧⲁⲧⲁⲙⲟⲕ ⳿ⲉϯϣⲉⲗⲉⲧ ⳿ⲧ⳿ⲥϩⲓⲙⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲓϩⲓⲏⲃ.
10 Then he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain and showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God.
ⲓ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁϥⲟⲗⲧ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲡ͞ⲛⲁ̅ ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲡϣⲱⲓ ⳿ⲉϫⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲛⲓϣϯ ⳿ⲛⲧⲱⲟⲩ ⲉϥϭⲟⲥⲓ ⲁϥⲧⲁⲙⲟⲓ ⳿ⲉϯⲃⲁⲕⲓ ⲉⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ ⳿ⲓⲗ̅ⲏ̅ⲙ̅ ⲉⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⳿ⲉⲡⲉⲥⲏⲧ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲧⲫⲉ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⲫϯ.
11 Jerusalem had the glory of God, and its brilliance was like a very precious jewel, like a stone of crystal-clear jasper.
ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ⲑⲏ ⲉⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ ⲉⲑⲙⲉϩ ⳿ⲛⲱⲟⲩ ⲡⲉⲥⲟⲩⲱⲓⲛⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲉϥⲟⲓ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲱⲓⲛⲓ ⲉϥⲧⲁⲓⲏⲟⲩⲧ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲟⲩⲱⲓⲛⲓ ⳿ⲛⲓⲁⲥⲡⲓⲥ ⲉϥⲧⲁⲓⲏⲟⲩⲧ ⲉϥⲟⲓ ⳿ⲛ⳿ⲭⲣⲓⲥⲧⲁⲗⲟⲥ.
12 It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel.
ⲓ̅ⲃ̅⳿ⲉⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⳿ⲛⲧⲁⲥ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲛⲓϣϯ ⳿ⲛⲥⲟⲃⲧ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲉϥϭⲟⲥⲓ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡⲓⲓ̅ⲃ̅ ⳿ⲙⲡⲩⲗⲱⲛ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲡⲓⲓ̅ⲃ̅ ⳿ⲛⲁⲅⲅⲉⲗⲟⲥ ϩⲓⲣⲉⲛ ⲛⲓⲡⲩⲗⲱⲛ ⲛⲉⲙ ϩⲁⲛⲣⲁⲛ ⲉⲩ⳿ⲥϧⲏⲟⲩⲧ ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲫⲣⲁⲛ ⳿ⲛϯⲓ̅ⲃ̅ ⳿ⲙⲫⲩⲗⲏ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲛⲉⲛϣⲏⲣⲓ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲡⲓⲥ̅ⲗ̅.
13 On the east were three gates, on the north three gates, on the south three gates, and on the west three gates.
ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ⲥⲁ⳿ⲡⲉⲓⲉⲃⲧ ⲅ̅ ⳿ⲙⲡⲩⲗⲱⲛ ⲥⲁⲣⲏⲥ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲅ̅ ⳿ⲙⲡⲩⲗⲱⲛ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲡⲉⲙⲉⲛⲧ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ϯⲡⲟⲗⲓⲥ ⲅ̅ ⳿ⲙⲡⲩⲗⲱⲛ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲥⲁⲡⲉⲙϩⲓⲧ ⲅ̅ ⳿ⲙⲡⲩⲗⲱⲛ.
14 The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲡⲓⲥⲟⲃⲧ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ϯⲡⲟⲗⲓⲥ ⳿ⲉⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ ⳿ⲛⲥⲉⲛϯ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲩ⳿ⲥϧⲏⲟⲩⲧ ϩⲓⲱⲧⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⳿ⲫⲣⲁⲛ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓⲓ̅ⲃ̅ ⳿ⲛⲁⲡⲟⲥⲧⲟⲗⲟⲥ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲓϩⲓⲏⲃ.
15 The one who spoke with me had a measuring rod made of gold to measure the city, its gates, and its wall.
ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲫⲏⲉⲧⲥⲁϫⲓ ⲛⲉⲙⲏⲓ ⳿ⲉⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲟⲩⲕⲁϣ ⳿ⲛⲛⲟⲩⲃ ⳿ⲛⲧⲟⲧϥ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉϥϣⲓ ⳿ⲛϯ ⲃⲁⲕⲓ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲉⲥ⳿ϣⲑⲟⲙ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲉⲥⲥⲟⲃⲧ.
16 The city was laid out in a square; its length was the same as its width. He measured the city with the measuring rod, twelve thousand stadia in length (its length, width, and height were the same).
ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ϯⲃⲁⲕⲓ ⲛⲉ ⲟⲩⲧⲉⲧⲣⲁⲅⲱⲛⲟⲛ ⲧⲉ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲥϣⲓⲏ ⲡⲁⲓⲣⲏϯ ⲟⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲧⲉⲥⲟⲩⲏϣⲥⲓ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁϥϣⲓ ⳿ⲛϯⲃⲁⲕⲓ ⲁϥϫⲉⲙⲥ ⲉⲥⲟⲓ ⳿ⲙⲓ̅ⲃ̅ ⳿ⲛϣⲟ ⳿ⲛ⳿ⲥⲧⲁⲇⲓⲟⲛ ⳿ⲛϣⲓⲏ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲧⲉⲥⲟⲩⲏ ϣⲥⲓ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡⲉⲥϭⲓⲥⲓ ⲉⲩⲟⲓ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩϩⲩⲥⲟⲥ.
17 He also measured its wall, 144 cubits thick by human measurement (which is also the angel's measure).
ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁⲩϣⲓ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲥⲥⲟⲃⲧ ⲁⲩϫⲉⲙϥ ⲉϥ⳿ⲓⲣⲓ ⳿ⲛⲣ̅ⲙ̅ⲇ̅ ⳿ⲛϣⲟ ⳿ⲡϣⲓ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⲉⲧⲉ ⲫⲁ ⲟⲩⲁⲅⲅⲉⲗⲟⲥ ⲡⲉ.
18 The wall was built of jasper and the city of pure gold, like clear glass.
ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲡⲕⲱϯ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓⲥⲟⲃⲧ ϯϩⲓⲟⲩ⳿ⲓ ⳿ⲛⲥⲉⲛϯ ⲛⲁⲥⲟⲓ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲓⲁⲥⲡⲓⲥ ⲡⲉ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ϯⲃⲁⲕⲓ ⲛⲁⲥⲟⲓ ⲡⲉ ⳿ⲛⲓⲉⲃ ⳿ⲛⲛⲟⲩⲃ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲁⲃ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲃⲁϫⲏⲓⲛⲓ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲁⲃ.
19 The foundations of the wall were adorned with every kind of precious stone. The first was jasper, the second was sapphire, the third was agate, the fourth was emerald,
ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛⲓⲥⲉⲛϯ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲥⲟⲃⲧ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ϯⲃⲁⲕⲓ ⲉⲩⲕⲏⲧ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲱⲛⲓ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲉⲧⲧⲁⲓⲏ ⲟⲩⲧ ϯⲥⲉⲛϯ ⳿ⲛϩⲟⲩⲓϯ ⲛⲉ ⲟⲩⲓⲁⲥⲡⲓⲥ ⲧⲉ ϯⲙⲁϩⲃ̅ϯ ⲟⲩⲥⲁⲡⲫⲓⲣⲟⲥ ⲧⲉ ϯⲙⲁϩⲅ̅ϯ ⲟⲩⲕⲁⲣⲭⲏ ⲇⲱⲛ ⲧⲉ ϯⲙⲁϩⲇ̅ ⲟⲩ⳿ⲥⲙⲁⲣⲁⲕⲇⲟⲥ.
20 the fifth was onyx, the sixth was carnelian, the seventh was chrysolite, the eighth was beryl, the ninth was topaz, the tenth was chrysoprase, the eleventh was jacinth, and the twelfth was amethyst.
ⲕ̅ϯⲙⲁϩⲉ̅ ⲟⲩⲥⲁⲣⲇⲟⲛⲓⲝ ϯⲙⲁϩⲋ̅ ⲟⲩⲥⲁⲣⲇⲓⲛⲟⲛ ϯⲙⲁϩⲍ̅ ⲟⲩ⳿ⲭⲣⲓⲥⲟⲗⲓⲛⲑⲟⲛⲥ ϯ ⲙⲁϩⲏ̅ ⲟⲩⲃⲩⲣⲓⲗⲗⲟⲥ ϯⲙⲁϩϧ̅ϯ ⲟⲩⲇⲟⲡⲁⲧⲓⲟⲛ ϯⲙⲁϩⲓ̅ϯ ⲟⲩϩⲩⲁⲕⲩⲛⲑⲓⲛⲟⲛ ϯⲙⲁϩⲓ̅ⲁ̅ ⲟⲩⲕⲩⲥⲟⲡⲁⲣⲁⲥⲟⲥ ϯⲙⲁϩⲓ̅ⲃ̅ ⲟⲩⲁⲙⲉⲑⲓⲧⲟⲥ.
21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls; each of the gates was made from a single pearl. The streets of the city were pure gold, like transparent glass.
ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲡⲓⲓ̅ⲃ̅ ⳿ⲙⲡⲩⲗⲱⲛ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲣⲅⲁⲣⲓⲧⲏ ⲥ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲡⲓ⳿ϣⲑⲉϩ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ϯ ⲃⲁⲕⲓ ⲟⲩⲛⲟⲩⲃ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲁⲃ ⲡⲉ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲁⲃⲁϫⲏ ⲓⲛⲓ ⲉϥⲉⲣⲟⲩⲱⲓⲛⲓ.
22 I saw no temple in the city, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.

23 The city had no need of the sun or the moon in order to shine on it because the glory of God shone on it, and its lamp is the Lamb.
ⲕ̅ⲅ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ϯⲃⲁⲕⲓ ⲛⲁⲥⲉⲣ⳿ⲛⲭⲣⲓⲁ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⲡⲓⲓⲟϩ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲟⲩⲉⲣⲟⲩⲱⲓⲛⲓ ⳿ⲛϧⲏⲧⲥ ⳿ⲡⲱⲟⲩ ⲅⲁⲣ ⳿ⲙⲫϯ ⲁϥⲉⲣⲟⲩⲱⲓⲛⲓ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟⲥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲡⲉⲥϧⲏⲃⲥ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲓϩⲓⲏⲃ.
24 The nations will walk by the light of that city. The kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it.

25 Its gates will not be shut during the day, and there will be no night there.

26 They will bring the splendor and the honor of the nations into it,

27 but nothing unclean will ever enter into it, nor anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life.
