John 19
1 Then Pilate took Jesus and whipped him.
൧അനന്തരം പീലാത്തോസ് യേശുവിനെ കൊണ്ടുപോയി ചാട്ടകൊണ്ട് അടിപ്പിച്ചു.
2 The soldiers weaved a crown of thorns. They put it on the head of Jesus and dressed him with a purple garment.
൨പടയാളികൾ മുള്ളുകൊണ്ട് ഒരു കിരീടം മെടഞ്ഞു അവന്റെ തലയിൽ വെച്ച് ധൂമ്രവസ്ത്രം ധരിപ്പിച്ചു.
3 They came to him and said, “Hail, King of the Jews!” and they struck him.
൩അവർ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്ന്: യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവേ, ജയജയ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് അവരുടെ കൈകൾകൊണ്ട് അവനെ അടിച്ചു.
4 Then Pilate went outside again and said to them, “See, I am bringing him outside to you so that you will know that I find no guilt in him.”
൪പീലാത്തോസ് പിന്നെയും പുറത്തു വന്നു: ഞാൻ അവനിൽ ഒരു കുറ്റവും കാണുന്നില്ല എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ അറിയേണ്ടതിന് അവനെ നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കൽ ഇതാ, പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
5 So Jesus came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple garment. Pilate said to them, “Look, here is the man!”
൫അങ്ങനെ യേശു മുൾക്കിരീടവും ധൂമ്രവസ്ത്രവും ധരിച്ചു പുറത്തു വന്നു. പീലാത്തോസ് അവരോട്: ആ മനുഷ്യൻ ഇതാ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
6 When therefore the chief priests and the officers saw Jesus, they cried out and said, “Crucify him, crucify him!” Pilate said to them, “Take him yourselves and crucify him, for I find no guilt in him.”
൬മുഖ്യപുരോഹിതന്മാരും ചേവകരും അവനെ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ: അവനെ ക്രൂശിയ്ക്ക, അവനെ ക്രൂശിയ്ക്ക! എന്നു ആർത്തുവിളിച്ചു. പീലാത്തോസ് അവരോട്: നിങ്ങൾ അവനെ കൊണ്ടുപോയി ക്രൂശിപ്പിൻ: ഞാനോ അവനിൽ കുറ്റം കാണുന്നില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
7 The Jews answered him, “We have a law, and according to that law he has to die because he claimed to be the Son of God.”
൭യെഹൂദന്മാർ അവനോട്: ഞങ്ങൾക്കു ഒരു ന്യായപ്രമാണം ഉണ്ട്; അവൻ തന്നെത്താൻ ദൈവപുത്രൻ ആക്കിയതുകൊണ്ട് ആ ന്യായപ്രമാണപ്രകാരം അവൻ മരിക്കണ്ടതാകുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
8 When Pilate heard this statement, he was even more afraid,
൮ഈ പ്രസ്താവന കേട്ടപ്പോൾ പീലാത്തോസ് ഏറ്റവും ഭയപ്പെട്ടു,
9 and he entered the government headquarters again and said to Jesus, “Where do you come from?” But Jesus gave him no answer.
൯അവൻ പിന്നെയും ആസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ ചെന്ന്; ‘നീ എവിടെ നിന്നു ആകുന്നു’ എന്നു യേശുവിനോടു ചോദിച്ചു. യേശു അവനോട് മറുപടിയൊന്നും പറഞ്ഞില്ല.
10 Then Pilate said to him, “Are you not speaking to me? Do you not know that I have power to release you, and power to crucify you?”
൧൦അപ്പോൾ പീലാത്തോസ് അവനോട്: നീ എന്നോട് സംസാരിക്കുന്നില്ലയോ? എനിക്ക് നിന്നെ ക്രൂശിപ്പാൻ അധികാരമുണ്ടെന്നും, നിന്നെ വിട്ടയപ്പാൻ അധികാരമുണ്ടെന്നും നീ അറിയുന്നില്ലയോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്
11 Jesus answered him, “You do not have any power over me except for what has been given to you from above. Therefore, he who gave me over to you has a greater sin.”
൧൧യേശു അവനോട്: ഉയരത്തിൽനിന്ന് നൽകപ്പെട്ടില്ലായിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ എന്റെ മേൽ നിനക്ക് ഒരധികാരവും ഉണ്ടാകയില്ലായിരുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ട് എന്നെ നിന്റെ പക്കൽ ഏല്പിച്ചവന് അധികം പാപം ഉണ്ട് എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
12 At this answer, Pilate tried to release him, but the Jews cried out, saying, “If you release this man, you are not a friend of Caesar. Everyone who makes himself a king speaks against Caesar.”
൧൨ഈ വാക്കുനിമിത്തം പീലാത്തോസ് അവനെ വിട്ടയപ്പാൻ ശ്രമിച്ചു. യെഹൂദന്മാരോ: നീ ഇവനെ വിട്ടയച്ചാൽ കൈസരുടെ സ്നേഹിതൻ അല്ല; തന്നെത്താൻ രാജാവാക്കുന്നവൻ എല്ലാം കൈസരോട് മത്സരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു ആർത്തു പറഞ്ഞു.
13 When Pilate heard these words, he brought Jesus out and sat down in the judgment seat in a place called “The Pavement,” but in Hebrew, “Gabbatha.”
൧൩ഈ വാക്കുകൾ കേട്ടപ്പോൾ പീലാത്തോസ് യേശുവിനെ പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു, ‘കല്ത്തളമെന്നും’ എബ്രായ ഭാഷയിൽ ‘ഗബ്ബഥാ’ എന്നും വിളിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന സ്ഥലത്തുള്ള ന്യായാസനത്തിൽ ഇരുന്നു.
14 Now it was the day of preparation for the Passover, at about the sixth hour. Pilate said to the Jews, “See, here is your king!”
൧൪അപ്പോൾ പെസഹയുടെ ഒരുക്കനാൾ ഏകദേശം ആറാം മണിനേരം ആയിരുന്നു. അവൻ യെഹൂദന്മാരോട്: “ഇതാ, നിങ്ങളുടെ രാജാവ്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
15 They cried out, “Away with him, away with him; crucify him!” Pilate said to them, “Should I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar.”
൧൫അവരോ: അവനെ കൊണ്ടുപോക, അവനെ കൊണ്ടുപോക; അവനെ ക്രൂശിയ്ക്ക! എന്നു നിലവിളിച്ചു. നിങ്ങളുടെ രാജാവിനെ ഞാൻ ക്രൂശിക്കേണമോ എന്നു പീലാത്തോസ് അവരോട് ചോദിച്ചു; അതിന് മുഖ്യപുരോഹിതന്മാർ: ഞങ്ങൾക്കു കൈസരല്ലാതെ മറ്റൊരു രാജാവില്ല എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
16 Then Pilate gave Jesus over to them to be crucified.
൧൬അപ്പോൾ അവൻ യേശുവിനെ ക്രൂശിക്കേണ്ടതിന് അവർക്ക് ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.
17 Then they took Jesus, and he went out, carrying the cross for himself, to the place called “The Place of a Skull,” which in Hebrew is called “Golgotha.”
൧൭അവർ യേശുവിനെ ഏറ്റുവാങ്ങി; അവൻ തന്നത്താൻ ക്രൂശിനെ ചുമന്നുകൊണ്ടു, എബ്രായ ഭാഷയിൽ ഗൊല്ഗോഥാ എന്നു പേരുള്ള തലയോടിടം എന്ന സ്ഥലത്തേയ്ക്ക് പോയി.
18 They crucified Jesus there, and with him two other men, one on each side, with Jesus in the middle.
൧൮അവിടെ അവർ അവനെയും അവനോടുകൂടെ വേറെ രണ്ടു ആളുകളെയും ഒരുവനെ അപ്പുറത്തും ഒരുവനെ ഇപ്പുറത്തും യേശുവിനെ നടുവിലുമായി ക്രൂശിച്ചു.
19 Pilate also wrote a sign and put it on the cross. There it was written: JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
൧൯പീലാത്തോസ് ഒരു മേലെഴുത്തും എഴുതി ക്രൂശിന്മേൽ പതിപ്പിച്ചു; അതിൽ: “നസറായനായ യേശു യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവ്” എന്നു എഴുതിയിരുന്നു.
20 Many of the Jews read this sign because the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city. The sign was written in Hebrew, in Latin, and in Greek.
൨൦യേശുവിനെ ക്രൂശിച്ച സ്ഥലം നഗരത്തിന് സമീപം ആകയാൽ അനേകം യെഹൂദന്മാർ ഈ മേലെഴുത്ത് വായിച്ചു. അത് എബ്രായ, റോമ, യവന ഭാഷകളിൽ എഴുതിയിരുന്നു.
21 Then the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, “Do not write, 'The King of the Jews,' but rather, 'This one said, “I am King of the Jews.”'”
൨൧ആകയാൽ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ മുഖ്യപുരോഹിതന്മാർ പീലാത്തോസിനോട്: യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവ് എന്നല്ല, ഞാൻ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവ് എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു എന്നത്രേ എഴുതേണ്ടത് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
22 Pilate answered, “What I have written I have written.”
൨൨അതിന് പീലാത്തോസ്: ഞാൻ എഴുതിയത് എഴുതി എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
23 When the soldiers crucified Jesus, they took his clothes, divided them into four shares, one for each of them; and also the tunic. Now the tunic was seamless, woven in one piece from the top.
൨൩പടയാളികൾ യേശുവിനെ ക്രൂശിച്ചശേഷം അവന്റെ വസ്ത്രം എടുത്തു ഓരോ പടയാളിക്ക് ഓരോ പങ്കായിട്ട് നാല് പങ്കാക്കി; അങ്കിയും എടുത്തു; അങ്കിയോ തുന്നൽ ഇല്ലാതെ മേൽതൊട്ട് മുഴുവനും നെയ്തതായിരുന്നു.
24 Then they said to each other, “Let us not tear it, but instead let us cast lots for it to decide whose it will be.” This happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled which said, “They divided my garments among themselves and cast lots for my clothing.” This is what the soldiers did.
൨൪ഇതു കീറരുത്; ആർക്ക് വരും എന്നു ചീട്ടിടുക എന്നു അവർ തമ്മിൽ പറഞ്ഞു. “എന്റെ വസ്ത്രം അവർ പകുത്തെടുത്തു എന്റെ അങ്കിക്കായി ചീട്ടിട്ടു” എന്നുള്ള തിരുവെഴുത്തിന് ഇതിനാൽ നിവൃത്തിവന്നു. പടയാളികൾ ഇങ്ങനെ ഒക്കെയും ചെയ്തു.
25 Now standing beside Jesus' cross were his mother, his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.
൨൫യേശുവിന്റെ ക്രൂശിനരികെ അവന്റെ അമ്മയും അമ്മയുടെ സഹോദരിയും ക്ലെയോപ്പാവിന്റെ ഭാര്യ മറിയയും മഗ്ദലക്കാരത്തി മറിയയും നിന്നിരുന്നു.
26 When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, “Woman, see, your son!”
൨൬യേശു തന്റെ അമ്മയും താൻ സ്നേഹിച്ച ശിഷ്യനും നില്ക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടിട്ട്: സ്ത്രീയേ, ഇതാ നിന്റെ മകൻ എന്നു അമ്മയോട് പറഞ്ഞു.
27 Then he said to the disciple, “See, your mother!” From that hour the disciple took her to his own home.
൨൭പിന്നെ ശിഷ്യനോട്: ഇതാ നിന്റെ അമ്മ എന്നും പറഞ്ഞു. ആ നാഴികമുതൽ ആ ശിഷ്യൻ അവളെ തന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ കൈക്കൊണ്ട്.
28 After this, knowing that everything was now completed and so that the scriptures would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.”
൨൮അതിന്‍റെശേഷം സകലവും തികഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യേശു അറിഞ്ഞിട്ട് തിരുവെഴുത്തുകൾ നിവൃത്തിയാകുംവണ്ണം: “എനിക്ക് ദാഹിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
29 A container full of sour wine was placed there, so they put a sponge full of the sour wine on a hyssop staff and lifted it up to his mouth.
൨൯അവിടെ പുളിച്ച വീഞ്ഞ് നിറഞ്ഞൊരു പാത്രം വെച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവർ ഒരു സ്പോങ്ങ് പുളിച്ച വീഞ്ഞ് നിറച്ച് ഈസോപ്പുതണ്ടിന്മേൽ ആക്കി അവന്റെ വായോട് അടുപ്പിച്ചു.
30 When Jesus had taken the sour wine, he said, “It is finished.” He bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
൩൦യേശു പുളിച്ച വീഞ്ഞ് കുടിച്ചശേഷം: “ഇത് നിവൃത്തിയായിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു തല ചായ്‌ച്ച് ആത്മാവിനെ ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.
31 Then the Jews, because it was the day of preparation, and so that the bodies would not remain on the cross during the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was especially important), asked Pilate to break their legs and to remove them.
൩൧അന്ന് ഒരുക്കനാളും ആ ശബ്ബത്ത് നാൾ വലിയതും ആകകൊണ്ട് ശരീരങ്ങൾ ശബ്ബത്തിൽ ക്രൂശിന്മേൽ ഇരിക്കരുത് എന്നുവച്ച് അവരുടെ കാലുകൾ ഒടിച്ച് ശരീരങ്ങൾ താഴെയിറക്കേണം എന്നു യെഹൂദന്മാർ പീലാത്തോസിനോട് അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
32 Then the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first man and of the second man who had been crucified with Jesus.
൩൨ആകയാൽ പടയാളികൾ വന്നു ഒന്നാമത്തവന്റെയും യേശുവിനോടുകൂടെ ക്രൂശിക്കപ്പെട്ട മറ്റവന്റെയും കാലുകൾ ഒടിച്ചു.
33 When they came to Jesus, they saw that he was already dead, so they did not break his legs.
൩൩അവർ യേശുവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നപ്പോൾ, അവൻ മരിച്ചുകഴിഞ്ഞിരുന്നു എന്നു കാൺകയാൽ അവന്റെ കാലുകൾ ഒടിച്ചില്ല.
34 However, one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.
൩൪എങ്കിലും പടയാളികളിൽ ഒരുവൻ കുന്തംകൊണ്ട് അവന്റെ വിലാപ്പുറത്ത് കുത്തി; ഉടനെ രക്തവും വെള്ളവും പുറപ്പെട്ടു.
35 The one who saw this has testified, and his testimony is true. He knows that what he said is true so that you would also believe.
൩൫ഇതു കണ്ടവൻ സാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ സാക്ഷ്യം സത്യം ആകുന്നു; നിങ്ങളും വിശ്വസിക്കേണ്ടതിന് താൻ സത്യം പറയുന്നു എന്നു അവൻ അറിയുന്നു.
36 For these things happened in order to fulfill scripture, “Not one of his bones will be broken.”
൩൬“അവന്റെ ഒരു അസ്ഥിയും ഒടിഞ്ഞുപോകയില്ല” എന്നുള്ള തിരുവെഴുത്ത് നിവൃത്തിയാകേണ്ടതിന് ഇതു സംഭവിച്ചു.
37 Again, another scripture says, “They will look at him whom they pierced.”
൩൭“അവർ കുത്തിയവങ്കലേക്ക് നോക്കും” എന്നു മറ്റൊരു തിരുവെഴുത്തും പറയുന്നു.
38 After these things, Joseph of Arimathea, since he was a disciple of Jesus (but secretly for fear of the Jews), asked Pilate if he could take away the body of Jesus. Pilate gave him permission. So Joseph came and took away his body.
൩൮അനന്തരം, യെഹൂദന്മാരെ പേടിച്ചിട്ട് രഹസ്യത്തിൽ യേശുവിന്റെ ഒരു ശിഷ്യനായിരുന്ന അരിമത്ഥ്യയിലെ യോസഫ് യേശുവിന്റെ ശരീരം എടുത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോകുവാൻ പീലാത്തോസിനോട് അനുവാദം ചോദിച്ചു. പീലാത്തോസ് അനുവദിച്ചപ്പോൾ അവൻ വന്നു അവന്റെ ശരീരം എടുത്തു.
39 Nicodemus also came, he who at first had come to Jesus by night. He brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about one hundred litras in weight.
൩൯യേശുവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ആദ്യം രാത്രിയിൽ വന്ന നിക്കോദെമോസും ഏകദേശം നൂറു റാത്തൽ മൂറും അകിലും കൊണ്ടുള്ള ഒരു കൂട്ട് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.
40 So they took the body of Jesus and wrapped it in linen cloths with the spices, as was the custom of the Jews to bury bodies.
൪൦അവർ യേശുവിന്റെ ശരീരം എടുത്തു യെഹൂദന്മാർ ശവം അടക്കുന്ന മര്യാദപ്രകാരം അതിനെ സുഗന്ധവർഗ്ഗത്തോടുകൂടെ ശീലപൊതിഞ്ഞു കെട്ടി.
41 Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden was a new tomb in which no person had yet been buried.
൪൧അവനെ ക്രൂശിച്ച സ്ഥലത്തുതന്നെ ഒരു തോട്ടവും ആ തോട്ടത്തിൽ മുമ്പെ ആരെയും വെച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്ത പുതിയൊരു കല്ലറയും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
42 Because it was the day of preparation for the Jews and because the tomb was close by, they laid Jesus in it.
൪൨യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ ഒരുക്കനാൾ ആയിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടും ആ കല്ലറ സമീപം ആയിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടും അവർ യേശുവിനെ അതിൽ വെച്ച്.
