Genesis 8
1 God considered Noah, all the wild animals, and all the livestock that were with him in the ark. God made a wind blow over the earth, and the waters started going down.
Silloin Jumala muisti Nooaa ja kaikkia metsäeläimiä ja kaikkia karjaeläimiä, jotka olivat hänen kanssansa arkissa. Ja Jumala nosti tuulen puhaltamaan yli maan, niin että vesi laskeutui.
2 The fountains of the deep and the windows of heaven were closed, and it stopped raining.
Ja syvyyden lähteet ja taivaan akkunat sulkeutuivat, ja sade taivaasta taukosi.
3 The flood waters went down slowly from the earth, and after the end of a hundred and fifty days the waters had gone down.
Ja vesi väistyi väistymistään maan päältä; sadan viidenkymmenen päivän kuluttua alkoi vesi vähentyä.
4 The ark came to rest in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.
Niin arkki pysähtyi seitsemäntenä kuukautena, kuukauden seitsemäntenätoista päivänä, Araratin vuorille.
5 The waters continued to go down until the tenth month. On the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains appeared.
Ja vesi väheni vähenemistään aina kymmenenteen kuukauteen asti. Kymmenentenä kuukautena, kuukauden ensimmäisenä päivänä, tulivat vuorten huiput näkyviin.
6 It came about after forty days that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made.
Neljänkymmenen päivän kuluttua Nooa avasi arkin ikkunan, jonka hän oli tehnyt,
7 He sent out a raven and it flew back and forth until the waters were dried up from the earth.
ja laski kaarneen lentoon, ja se lenteli edestakaisin, kunnes vesi maan päältä kuivui.
8 Then he sent out a dove to see if the waters had gone down from the surface of the earth,
Sitten hän laski luotansa kyyhkysen nähdäksensä, oliko vesi vähentynyt maan pinnalta.
9 but the dove found no place to rest her foot, and she returned to him in the ark, for the waters were still covering the whole earth. He reached out with his hand, and took and brought her into the ark with him.
Mutta kyyhkynen ei löytänyt paikkaa, missä lepuuttaa jalkaansa, vaan palasi hänen luoksensa arkkiin, sillä koko maa oli vielä veden peitossa; niin hän ojensi kätensä ja otti sen luoksensa arkkiin.
10 He waited another seven days and again he sent out the dove from the ark.
Ja hän odotti vielä toiset seitsemän päivää ja laski taas kyyhkysen arkista.
11 The dove returned to him in the evening. Look! In her mouth was a freshly plucked olive leaf. So Noah knew that the waters had gone down from the earth.
Ja kyyhkynen tuli hänen luoksensa ehtoopuolella, ja katso, sen suussa oli tuore öljypuun lehti. Niin Nooa ymmärsi, että vesi oli vähentynyt maan päältä.
12 He waited another seven days, and sent out the dove again. She did not return again to him.
Mutta hän odotti vielä toiset seitsemän päivää ja laski kyyhkysen lentoon, eikä se enää palannut hänen luoksensa.
13 It came about in the six hundred and first year, in the first month, on the first day of the month, that the waters were dried up from off the earth. Noah removed the covering of the ark, looked out, and saw that, behold, the surface of the ground was dry.
Ja Nooan kuudentenasadantena yhdentenä ikävuotena, vuoden ensimmäisenä kuukautena, kuukauden ensimmäisenä päivänä, oli vesi kuivunut maan päältä. Niin Nooa poisti katon arkista ja katseli; ja katso, maan pinta oli kuivunut.
14 In the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dry.
Ja toisena kuukautena, kuukauden kahdentenakymmenentenä seitsemäntenä päivänä, oli maa aivan kuiva.
15 God said to Noah,
Ja Jumala puhui Nooalle sanoen:
16 “Go out of the ark, you, your wife, your sons, and your sons' wives with you.
"Lähde arkista, sinä ja vaimosi, poikasi ja miniäsi sinun kanssasi.
17 Take out with you every living creature of all flesh that is with you—the birds, the animals, and every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth—so that they may grow unto very large numbers of living creatures throughout the earth, be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth.”
Ja kaikki eläimet, jotka ovat luonasi, kaikki liha, linnut ja karjaeläimet ja kaikki matelijat, jotka maan päällä matelevat, vie ne ulos kanssasi. Niitä vilisköön maassa, ja ne olkoot hedelmälliset ja lisääntykööt maan päällä."
18 So Noah went out with his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives with him.
Ja Nooa ja hänen poikansa, vaimonsa ja miniänsä hänen kanssaan lähtivät ulos,
19 Every living creature, every creeping thing, and every bird, everything that moves on the earth, according to their families, left the ark.
niin myös kaikki metsäeläimet, kaikki matelijat ja kaikki linnut, kaikki, mikä liikkuu maan päällä, lähtivät arkista suvuittain.
20 Noah built an altar to Yahweh. He took some of the clean animals and some of the clean birds, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.
Ja Nooa rakensi alttarin Herralle ja otti kaikkia puhtaita karjaeläimiä ja kaikkia puhtaita lintuja ja uhrasi polttouhreja alttarilla.
21 Yahweh smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart, “I will not again curse the ground because of mankind, even though the intentions of their hearts is evil from childhood. Nor will I again destroy everything living, as I have done.
Ja Herra tunsi suloisen tuoksun ja sanoi sydämessänsä: "En minä koskaan enää kiroa maata ihmisen tähden; sillä ihmisen sydämen aivoitukset ovat pahat nuoruudesta saakka. Enkä minä koskaan enää tuhoa kaikkea, mikä elää, niinkuin nyt olen tehnyt.
22 While the earth remains, seed time and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night will not cease.”
Niin kauan kuin maa pysyy, ei lakkaa kylväminen eikä leikkaaminen, ei vilu eikä helle, ei kesä eikä talvi, ei päivä eikä yö."
