< Matthew 7 >

1 Iudge not that ye be not iudged.
Do not judge, that you may not be judged.
2 For as ye iudge so shall ye be iudged. And wt what mesure ye mete wt the same shall it be mesured to you agayne.
For, just as you judge others, you will yourselves be judged, and the measure that you mete will be meted out to you.
3 Why seist thou a moote in thy brothers eye and perceavest not the beame yt ys yn thyne awne eye.
And why do you look at the straw in your brother’s eye, while you pay no attention at all to the beam in yours?
4 Or why sayest thou to thy brother: suffre me to plucke oute the moote oute of thyne eye and behold a beame is in thyne awne eye.
How will you say to your brother ‘Let me take out the straw from your eye,’ when all the time there is a beam in your own?
5 Ypocryte fyrst cast oute the beame oute of thyne awne eye and then shalte thou se clearly to plucke oute the moote out of thy brothers eye.
Hypocrite! Take out the beam from your own eye first, and then you will see clearly how to take out the straw from your brother’s.
6 Geve not that which is holy to dogges nether cast ye youre pearles before swyne lest they treade them vnder their fete and ye other tourne agayne and all to rent you.
Do not give what is sacred to dogs; nor yet throw your pearls before pigs, lest they should trample them under their feet, and then turn and attack you.
7 Axe and it shalbe geven you. Seke and ye shall fynd. knocke and it shalbe opened vnto you.
Ask, and your prayer shall be granted; search, and you shall find; knock, and the door shall be opened to you.
8 For whosoever axeth receaveth and he yt seketh fyndeth and to hym that knocketh it shalbe opened.
For he that asks receives, he that searches finds, and to him that knocks the door shall be opened.
9 Ys there eny man amoge you which if his sonne axed hym bread wolde offer him astone?
Who among you, when his son asks him for a loaf, will give him a stone,
10 Or if he axed fysshe wolde he proffer hym a serpet?
or when he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?
11 Yf ye then which are evyll cane geve to youre chyldren good gyftes: how moche moore shall youre father which is in heve geve good thynges to them yt axe hym?
If you, then, wicked though you are, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in Heaven give what is good to those that ask him!
12 Therfore whatsoever ye wolde that men shulde do to you even so do ye to them. This ys the lawe and the Prophettes.
Do to others whatever you would wish them to do to you; for that is the teaching of both the Law and the Prophets.
13 Enter in at the strayte gate: for wyde is ye gate and broade is the waye that leadeth to destruccion: and many ther be which goo yn therat.
Go in by the small gate. Broad and spacious is the road that leads to destruction, and those that go in by it are many;
14 But strayte is the gate and narowe ys the waye which leadeth vnto lyfe: and feawe there be that fynde it.
for small is the gate, and narrow the road, that leads to Life, and those that find it are few.
15 Beware of false Prophetes which come to you in shepes clothinge but inwardly they are ravenynge wolves.
Beware of false Teachers — men who come to you in the guise of sheep, but at heart they are ravenous wolves.
16 Ye shall knowe them by their frutes. Do men gaddre grapes of thornes? or figges of bryres?
By the fruit of their lives you will know them. Do people gather grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles?
17 Euen soo every good tree bryngeth forthe good frute. But a corrupte tree bryngethe forthe evyll frute.
So, too, every sound tree bears good fruit, while a worthless tree bears bad fruit.
18 A good tree canot brynge forthe bad frute: nor yet a bad tree can bringe forthe good frute.
A sound tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a worthless tree bear good fruit.
19 Every tree that bryngethe not forthe good frute shalbe hewe doune and cast into the fyre.
Every tree that fails to bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
20 Wherfore by their frutes ye shall knowe the.
Hence it is by the fruit of their lives that you will know such men.
21 Not all they that saye vnto me Master Master shall enter in to the kyngdome of heven: but he that dothe my fathers will which ys in heven.
Not every one who says to me ‘Master! Master!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in Heaven.
22 Many will saye to me in that daye Master master have we not in thy name prophesied? And in thy name have caste oute devyls? And in thy name have done many miracles?
On ‘That Day’ many will say to me ‘Master, Master, was not it in your name that we taught, and in your name that we drove out demons, and in your name that we did many miracles?’
23 And then will I knowlege vnto them that I never knewe them. Departe from me ye workers of iniquite.
And then I shall say to them plainly ‘I never knew you. Go from my presence, you who live in sin.’
24 Whosoever heareth of me these sayinges and doethe the same I wyll lyken hym vnto a wyse man which bylt hys housse on a rocke:
Everyone, therefore, that listens to this teaching of mine and acts upon it may be compared to a prudent man, who built his house upon the rock.
25 and aboundance of rayne descended and the fluddes came and the wyndes blewe and bet vpon that same housse and it fell not because it was grounded on the rocke.
The rain poured down, the rivers rose, the winds blew and beat upon that house, but it did not fall, for its foundations were upon the rock.
26 And whosoever heareth of me these sayinges and doth the not shalbe lykened vnto a folysh man which bilt hys housse apo the sondes:
And every one that listens to this teaching of mine and does not act upon it may be compared to a foolish man, who built his house on the sand.
27 and abundauce of rayne descended and the fluddes came and ye wyndes blewe and beet vpon that housse and it fell and great was the fall of it.
The rain poured down, the rivers rose, the winds blew and struck against that house, and it fell; and great was its downfall.”
28 And it came to passe that when Iesus had ended these saynges the people were astonnyed at hys doctryne.
By the time that Jesus had finished speaking, the crowd was filled with amazement at his teaching.
29 For he taught them as one havynge power and not as the Scribes.
For he taught them like one who had authority, and not like their Teachers of the Law.
