Matthew 5
1 When he sawe the people he went vp into a mountayne and when he was set his disciples came to hym

2 and he opened hys mouthe and taught them sayinge:

3 Blessed are the povre in sprete: for theirs is the kyngdome of heven.
Autuaat ovat hengellisesti vaivaiset; sillä heidän on taivaan valtakunta.
4 Blessed are they that morne: for they shalbe conforted.
Autuaat ovat murheelliset; sillä he saavat lohdutuksen.
5 Blessed are the meke: for they shall inheret the erth.
Autuaat ovat siviät; sillä he saavat maan periä.
6 Blessed are they which honger and thurst for rightewesnes: for they shalbe filled.
Autuaat ovat, jotka isoovat ja janoovat vanhurskautta; sillä he ravitaan.
7 Blessed are ye mercifull: for they shall obteyne mercy.
Autuaat ovat laupiaat; sillä he saavat laupiuden.
8 Blessed are the pure in herte: for they shall se God.
Autuaat ovat puhtaat sydämestä; sillä he saavat nähdä Jumalan.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shalbe called the chyldren of God.
Autuaat ovat rauhan tekiät; sillä ne pitää Jumalan pojiksi kutsuttaman.
10 Blessed are they which suffre persecucio for rightwesnes sake: for theirs ys the kyngdome of heuen.
Autuaat ovat, jotka vanhurskauden tähden vainotaan; sillä heidän on taivaan valtakunta.
11 Blessed are ye when men reuyle you and persecute you and shall falsly say all manner of yvell saynges agaynst you for my sake.
Autuaat olette te, kuin he pilkkaavat ja vainoovat teitä, ja puhuvat kaikkinaista pahuutta teitä vastaan, valhetellen minun tähteni.
12 Reioyce and be glad for greate is youre rewarde in heven. For so persecuted they ye Prophetes which were before youre dayes.
Iloitkaat ja riemuitkaat; sillä teidän palkkanne on suuri taivaissa. Sillä näin he vainosivat prophetaita, jotka teidän edellänne olivat.
13 ye are ye salt of the erthe: but and yf ye salt have lost hir saltnes what can be salted ther with? It is thence forthe good for nothynge but to be cast oute and to be troade vnder fote of men.
Te olette maan suola: jos siis suola tulee mauttomaksi, millä sitte suolataan? ei se enään kelpaa mihinkään, vaan heitettää pois ja ihmisiltä tallattaa.
14 Ye are ye light of the worlde. A cite yt is set on an hill cannot be hid
Te olette maailman valkeus. Ei sitä kaupunkia taideta peittää, joka vuorella on,
15 nether do men lyght a cadell and put it vnder a busshell but on a candelstick and it lighteth all that are in the house.
Eikä kynttilää sytytetä ja panna vakan alle, vaan kynttiläjalkaan, valaisemaan kaikkia, jotka huoneessa ovat.
16 Let youre light so shyne before men yt they maye se youre good workes and glorify youre father which is in heven.
Näin valistakoon teidän valkeutenne ihmisten edessä, että he näkisivät teidän hyvät työnne, ja kunnioittaisivat teidän Isäänne, joka on taivaissa.
17 Thinke not yt I am come to destroye the lawe or the Prophets: no I am nott come to destroye them but to fulfyll them.
Älkäät luulko, että minä tulin lakia ja prophetaita päästämään: en minä tullut päästämään, vaan täyttämään.
18 For truely I saye vnto you till heven and erth perisshe one iott or one tytle of the lawe shall not scape tyll all be fulfilled.
Sillä totisesti sanon minä teille: siihenasti kuin taivas ja maa katoo, ei pidä vähinkään piirto eikä joku rahtu laista katooman, siihenasti kuin kaikki tapahtuvat.
19 Whosoever breaketh one of these lest commaundmentes and teacheth men so he shalbe called the leest in the kyngdome of heve. But whosoever obserueth and teacheth ye same shal be called greate in the kyngdome of heven.
Kuka siis jonkun näistä vähimmistä käskyistä päästää, ja näin ihmisiä opettaa, hän pitää taivaan valtakunnassa vähimmäksi kutsuttaman; mutta joka sen tekee ja opettaa, se pitää suureksi taivaan valtakunnassa kutsuttaman.
20 For I saye vnto you except youre rightewesnes excede the righetewesnes of ye Scribes and Pharises ye canot entre into ye kyngdome of heven.
Sillä minä sanon teille: ellei teidän vanhurskautenne ole paljoa enempi kuin kirjanoppineiden ja Pharisealaisten, niin ette tule taivaan valtakuntaan.
21 Ye have herde howe it was sayd vnto the of ye olde tyme: Thou shalt not kyll. For whoso ever kylleth shall be in daunger of iudgemet.
Te kuulitte mitä sanottu oli vanhoille: ei sinun pidä tappaman; mutta jokainen, joka tappaa, hänen pitää tuomioon vikapää oleman.
22 But I say vnto you whosoever is angre with hys brother shalbe in daunger of iudgement. Whosoeuer sayeth vnto his brother Racha shalbe in dauger of a cousell. But whosoeuer sayeth thou fole shalbe in dauger of hell fyre. (Geenna g1067)
Mutta minä sanon teille: että jokainen, joka tyhmästi vihastuu veljellensä, hänen pitää tuomioon vikapää oleman; mutta jokainen, joka sanoo veljellensä: raka, hänen pitää neuvon alle vikapää oleman; mutta jokainen, joka sanoo: sinä tyhmä, hänen pitää helvetin tuleen vikapää oleman. (Geenna g1067)
23 Therfore whe thou offrest thy gifte at the altare and their remembrest that thy brother hath ought agaynst the:
Sentähden, jos sinä uhraat lahjas alttarille, ja siellä muistat, että veljelläs on jotakin sinua vastaan:
24 leue there thyne offrynge before the altre and go thy waye first and be reconcyled to thy brother and then come and offre thy gyfte.
Niin jätä sinne lahjas alttarin eteen, ja mene ensin sopimaan veljes kanssa, ja tule sitte lahjas uhraamaan.
25 Agre with thyne adversary quicklye whyles thou arte in ye waye with hym lest that adversary deliver ye to ye iudge and ye iudge delivre ye to ye minister and the thou be cast into preson.
Sovi nopiasti riitaveljes kanssa, koskas vielä hänen kanssansa tiellä olet, ettei riitaveljes anna sinua joskus tuomarille, ja tuomari antaa sinun palvelialle, ja sinä heitetään torniin.
26 I say vnto ye verely: thou shalt not come out thece till thou have payed ye utmost farthige.

27 Ye haue hearde howe it was sayde to the of olde tyme: Thou shalt not comitt advoutrie.
Te kuulitte sanotuksi vanhoille: ei sinun pidä huorin tekemän.
28 But I say vnto you that whosoeuer looketh on a wyfe lustynge after her hathe comitted advoutrie with hir alredy in his hert.
Mutta minä sanon teille: jokainen, joka katsoo vaimon päälle himoitaksensa häntä, hän teki jo huorin hänen kanssansa sydämessänsä.
29 Wherfore yf thy right eye offende ye plucke hym out and caste him from the. Better it is for the yt one of thy membres perisshe then that thy hole bodye shuld be cast into hell. (Geenna g1067)
Jos oikia silmäs pahentaa sinun, niin puhkaise se ulos, ja heitä pois tyköäs; sillä parempi on sinulle, että yksi jäsenistäs hukutetaan, kuin että koko ruumis pitäis heitettämän helvettiin. (Geenna g1067)
30 Also if thy right honde offend ye cut hym of and caste hym from the. Better yt ys that one of thy membres perisshe then that all thy body shulde be caste in to hell. (Geenna g1067)
Ja jos oikia kätes pahentaa sinun, niin hakkaa se poikki, ja heitä pois tyköäs! sillä parempi on sinulle, että yksi jäsenistäs hukutetaan, kuin että koko ruumis pitäis helvettiin heitettämän. (Geenna g1067)
31 It ys sayd whosoever put awaye his wyfe let hym geve her a testymonyall also of the devorcement.
On myös sanottu: jokainen joka emäntänsä hylkää, hän antakaan hänelle erokirjan.
32 But I say vnto you: whosoever put awaye his wyfe (except it be for fornicacion) causeth her to breake matrymony. And whosoever maryeth her that is devorsed breaketh wedlocke.
Mutta minä sanon teille: joka emäntänsä hylkää, muutoin kuin huoruuden tähden, hän saattaa hänen huorin tekemään; ja joka nai sen hyljätyn, hän tekee huorin.
33 Agayne ye haue hearde how it was sayd to the of olde tyme thou shalt not forsuere thy selfe but shalt performe thyne othe to God.
Taas te kuulitte sanotuksi vanhoille: älä vanno väärin, vaan pidä valas Herralle.
34 But I saye vnto you swere not at all nether by heue for it ys Goddes seate:
Mutta minä sanon teille: älkäät ensinkään vannoko, ei taivaan kautta, sillä se on Jumalan istuin;
35 nor yet by the erth for it is his fote stole: nether by Ierusalem for it ys ye cyte of yt greate kynge:
Eikä maan kautta, sillä se on hänen astinlautansa: ei myös Jerusalemin kautta, sillä se on suuren kuninkaan kaupunki:
36 nether shalt thou sweare by thy heed because thou canst not make one white heer or blacke:
Ei sinun myös pidä vannoman pääs kautta, sillä et sinä voi yhtään hiusta valkiaksi eli mustaksi tehdä.
37 But your comunicacion shalbe ye ye: nay nay. For whatsoeuer is more then yt cometh of yvell.
Vaan teidän puheenne pitää oleman: on, on, ei, ei; mutta mitä siihen lisätään, se on pahasta.
38 Ye have hearde how it ys sayd an eye for an eye: a tothe for a tothe.
Te kuulitte sanotuksi: silmä silmästä, ja hammas hampaasta.
39 But I saye to you that ye resist not wroge. But whosoever geve the a blowe on thy right cheke tourne to him the other.
Mutta minä sanon teille: älkäät olko pahaa vastaan; vaan joka sinua lyö oikialle poskelle, niin käännä myös hänelle toinen.
40 And yf eny man will sue the at the lawe and take awaye thy coote let hym have thy cloocke also.
Ja joka sinua tahtoo oikeuden eteen, jo ottaa hamees, niin salli myös hänelle muukin vaate.
41 And whosoever wyll copell the to goo a myle goo wyth him twayne.
Ja joka sinua vaatii peninkulman, mene hänen kanssansa kaksi.
42 Geve to him that axeth and fro him that wolde borowe tourne not awaye.
Anna sille, joka sinulta anoo, ja älä käänny siltä pois, joka lainan pyytää.
43 Ye have hearde how it is sayde: thou shalt love thyne neghbour and hate thine enimy.
Te kuulitte sanotuksi: rakasta lähimmäistäs, ja vihaa vihollistas;
44 But I saye vnto you love youre enimies. Blesse the that coursse you. Do good to them that hate you. Praye for them which doo you wronge and persecute you
Mutta minä sanon teille: rakastakaat vihollisianne; siunatkaat niitä, jotka teitä sadattavat; tehkäät niille hyvin, jotka teitä vihaavat, ja rukoilkaat niiden edestä, jotka teitä vainoovat ja vahingoittavat,
45 that ye maye be ye chyldern of youre father that is in heauen: for he maketh his sunne to aryse on ye yvell and on the good and sendeth his reyn on the iuste and vniuste.
Että te olisitte teidän Isänne pojat, joka on taivaissa; sillä hän sallii aurinkonsa koittaa niin pahain ylitse kuin hyväinkin, ja antaa sataa niin väärille kuin vanhurskaillekin.
46 For yf ye love them which love you: what rewarde shall ye have? Doo not the Publicans euen so?
Sillä jos te rakastatte niitä, jotka teitäkin rakastavat, mitä teidän siitä palkkaa on? eikö Publikanit myös niin tee?
47 And yf ye be frendly to youre brethren onlye: what singuler thynge doo ye? Do not the Publicans lyke wyse?
Ja jos te ainoastaan veljeinne kanssa soveliaat olette, mitä te sen kanssa erinomaista teette? eikö Publikanit myös niin tee?
48 ye shall therfore be perfecte eve as youre father which is in heauen is perfecte.
Olkaat siis te täydelliset, niinkuin teidän taivaallinen Isänne täydellinen on.
